i bought macbook pro md313 2 days ago, its really really over heat it burns my legs and very loud fan, is it normal ? and if its not how to fix this problem ?

Without any real data we cannot give you any advice.  Install from the Internet iStat pro and then you will be able to see the actual internal temperature and fan speeds for your MBP.
In the mean time be advised that there are temperature sensors that will shut down your MBP before it commits Hari Kari, so do not be unduly alarmed.

  • Macbook Pro Retina Over-heating

Hi, I am a fairly new owner of a 15" Macbook Pro with Retina Display as of June 2012.  I bought the laptop with a 3-year AppleCare Protection Plan from an Apple Store in the U.S.A. and now living in the U.A.E.
Just recently within the past month have I encountered an abnormal regular problem with the laptop overheating at high tempertures (almost too hot to touch).  It has never done this before and normally ran at a cooler temperture.  No I'm afraid my laptop is at risk of being damaged due to the heat.
My question is: knowing that there NO Offical Apple Stores in the U.A.E., what suggestions are there to fix this issue with the overheating, or where may I take it to have it repaired.
    Thanks,

  • My iPhone 5 won't connect to my macbook pro retina over bluetooth?

My iPhone 5 won't connect to my macbook pro retina over bluetooth?

Ah, sure it actually won't.  I have the same problem, and I contacted Apple Support.  They told me that there is an incompatability between the iphone 5 and MacBook Pro Retina such that Bluetooth pairing is not possible.
The Support Agent actually had the audacity to tell me this was part of the design of the OS on the MacBook Pro, like Windows people saying, "That's not a bug.  It's a feature!!"
Personally, I think this is insane.  While I was trying to tether the iphone to the MacBook Pro retina for an internet connection, there are other reasons related to file transfers for which one would want to pair the iphone 5 with the MacBook Pro retina.
I am hoping this "feature" is fixed in iOS 7, and/or in some dot release of Mac OS 10.8.
By the way, the personal hotspot feature on my Verizon iphone 5 works great either via a wifi or USB connection.  There are occaisions, however, when one would 1) not have a USB cable, and/or 2) have another wifi relationship between the phone and a network that one would not want to have to "forget" in order for it not to connect to that wifi network.  The Macbook will not find the iphone as a wifi hotspot if the iphone is connected to wifi in the first place.  At least mine won't.

How can i prevent my pro from over heating?

Don't use the computer in your lap, or on a blanket or pillow. The case bottom is part of the heat dissipation system so it needs air underneath. If you must use the computer in your lap, get a lapboard. There are cheap, even more so if you make one yourself.
If the computer is a older MBP with silver keys, avoid "clamshell" mode when using an external monitor. Those models let a lot of heat escape through the keyboard. The black-key Unibody versions don't seem to rely so much on the keyboard as a vent.
Like eww said, what feels hot to you may not threaten the computer's well-being. Get a temperature monitoring utility. I like this one:
    http://bresink.com/osx/TemperatureMonitor.html
It runs politely in the background and puts the readout in the menubar:
so you don't have to invoke Dashboard like some other temp monitors require. As Dashboard loads all its widgets as soon as it's invoked, the extra widget processes can run up the temps and you don't get a true average use temp.
If you use Dashboard a lot, those processes stay active after the first launch and can eat processor cycles as well as increase temps. I use DashQuit, a widget that shuts down Dashboard when I'm done without requiring a computer restart. It's here:

You should have a backup in the first place. If you don't, buy an external drive (they're inexpensive these days) and make a Time Machine or a clone backup (using Carbon Copy Cloner).
Then take your machine to your local Apple Store or an AASP and let them diagnose the computer. See if they can isolate what may possibly be making the 'clicking' sound.

Exactly what model MacBook Pro do you have?
Many MBP's have two graphic processors (gpu's) and if you are using the dedicated graphics processor, your MBP will heat up a lot  more than when the built-in graphics processor is in use.   For example, the current non-Retina MBP's have both a built-in Intel HD 4000 graphics processor and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M graphics processor.
You can control which video processor is in use via System Preferences > Energy Saver.  If you are running Lion (10.7) there is an option for Automatic Graphics Switching which you should turn off (disable) in order to use only the built-in video processor.  In my own experience I have found very few cases where the dedicated gpu gives 'better' performance than the built-in gpu.

  • MacBook Pro Kernel_Task over 300% ; laptop running very slow

My new (4 week old) MacBook Pro suddenly this weekend started running very slow with the fan running constantly. I found the "kernel_task" was running the CPU over 300%. I tried various methods mentioned in different threads but nothing worked. I eventually went all the way to wiping the disk and reinstalling the OS. This has NOT fixed the problem. I do not know where to go next. I am posting a copy of the EtreCheck report I ran, and I am looking for any help.
The next step is taking this thing back to the Apple store. I love my MacBook, but not when it is not lagging like something running Windows ME. I expected more out of this machine than this.

The kernel is using excessive processor cycles. Below are some possible causes for the condition.
    Throttling
When it gets high temperature readings from the hardware, or a low-voltage reading from the battery, the kernel may try to compensate by interrupting the processor(s) to slow them down and reduce power consumption. This condition can be due to
a buildup of dust on the logic board
    high ambient temperature
a worn-out or faulty battery in a portable
the malfunction of a cooling fan, a temperature sensor, a voltage sensor, or some other internal component
Note that if the problem is caused by a sensor, there may be no actual overheating or undervoltage.
If the computer is portable, test with and without the AC adapter connected. If kernel_task hogs the processor only on battery power, the fault is in the battery or the logic board. If it happens only on AC power, charging is causing the machine to heat up. That may be normal on some models. CPU usage should drop when charging is complete.
Apple Diagnostics or the Apple Hardware Test, though not very reliable, is sometimes able to detect a fault. For more thorough hardware testing, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
If nothing is wrong with the hardware, then whatever you can do to improve cooling may help.
    Installed software
User-installed software that includes a device driver or other kernel code may thrash the kernel. That category includes virtualization software, such as Parallels and VMware, as well as most commercial "anti-virus" products. Some system-monitoring applications, such as "iStat," can also contribute to the problem. You can test for this possibility by completely disabling or removing the software according to the developer's instructions, or starting in safe mode. Note, however, that disabling a system modification without removing it or testing in safe mode may not be as easy as you think.
    Corrupt NVRAM or SMC data
Sometimes the problem is cleared up by resetting the NVRAM or the SMC.
    External display
Connecting an external LCD display to some MacBook Pro models while the lid is open may cause this issue. If applicable, test by closing the lid or disconnecting the display. You might get better results with a newer LED display.

  • MacBook Pro Retina - Fan/Heat During File Transfer

    Hey guys,
I just had my MacBook Pro Retina in for repair because of an 4HDD/11/400000000: Sata (0,0) error and they replaced the SSD. I have a 2.7/16/768 configuration. One of the main issues I noticed was periodically slow file transfers, load times and boots hanging etc. and a secondary reason was a high-pitched buzzing with heavy disk usage.
My question now is... when I'm doing something as simple as a large file transfer, or installing some apps etc. the MacBook really heats up and the fans really start spinning sometimes. I've never known SSD access to heat up a computer so much. Is this normal behaviour that everyone else is experiencing with their systems? To clarify: this happens when not doing anything else with the machine other than copying files around, also when copying files to/from my external drive which is connected through FireWire on the back of my 27" Thunderbolt display which is then of course connected to the MacBook via the Thunderbolt port.
Expected behaviour? Seems odd to me, but this is my first MacBook so don't know if that's the 'norm' or not.

I've managed to get the fan speed down to a reasonable, less audible level by using that old VRAM terminal command to enable me to keep the internal display disabled whilst the lid is open. I've had to shift quite a lot round on my desk to make this happen, but I guess it was the only way. It now runs 3 screens under similar loads at approximately 3500prm.
Taking your advice into consideration, I raised the rear feet and this enabled further decrease in fan speed. I guess one of those laptop stands will augment this effect, and I will look into them.
Anyway, thank you for your help!
    Thanks,
    Richard

  • Macbook pro retina 15" heat issues!

    Hello,
So i'm currently using a Macbook pro retina 15", the base model with two graphic cards, late 2013, and while running a game like Elder Scroll Online on my mac, it heats up a lot, i want to know if it's a normal thing to happen and won't damage my mac, or i should stop playing it to prevent any further damage?
    Thanks in advance.

    Is this a "mac" thing?
I don't know, really, because I know that when I'm using Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro, it heats up as well - that's just what Flash does. Hopefully, with the coming of HTML video (which you can test on YouTube - although not all videos will play correctly) the need for Flash will slowly be eliminated.
But what you describe is 'normal' for Macs, I know - I haven't had a dedicated PC in - oh, since 1985, anyway!

  • HT4236 How can I move my pictures on my MacBook Pro laptop over to my iPhone?

I had pictures on my iPhone 4s and moved them over to my MacBook Pro.  After they moved over successfully, I somehow erased them off my phone.  I didn't want to do that. Is there a way to move them back to my iPhone?  It seemed to me that I had only 2 choices to pick when I was done syncing my computer and my iPhone; reset or start over (like new phone).  I picked reset.  Appreciate any help!  Thnaks!!

While you're synching (presumably your iPhone is connected to your computer via iTunes), click on your iPhone's icon in iTunes on the left.  You'll see lots of tabs near the top right, one of which is "Photos".  Click on that and you should see plenty of sync options for your photos, one of which will be right for you.  Then click "Apply" near the bottom when finished.

  • MacBook Pro Freezes, Panics, Heat, and other wierdness.

    Hi All,
I have been reading about these events for a while now and having suffered a similar situation with mine I can't emphasize how important it is to go through the process of getting the problems addressed though Apple. I believe there is a power problem with the second generations MacBook Pros. Mine would function perfectly running on battery. If the battery was low and I plugged it in it would freeze within several seconds. Often the Airport icon would not be present after reboot. The Airport is a separate component meaning it has to get power like the hard drive and the CD drive. I believe the added power drain of charging the battery and running the Airport over take the power system somehow. Possibly because of a defect in how the power is handled. Apple may not even be aware of this. The only way they will find out is to call them and go through the repair process. It does take time and it is a pain. The reality is they will not deal with an issue they don't know about. This board is a great place to share ideas with users and get tips but you can't get much hardware help here i don't think. These machine are not very user serviceable and defiantly shouldn't be touched if under warranty obviously. The more calls Apple gets about this stuff the more it will be recognized as an issue. I would suggest following all the advice given here about reseting PRAM and the SMC be followed. Also back up you data and do a complete reinstall. Apple will suggest you do all those things so when you call you can tell them you have. The first person you talk to may not be the best. Ask to speak with a tech. The big thing is to be calm and patient. It will get you much further than being irate. My machine is being replaced after tow repair visits. Apple will honer their warranty. I think as time goes by the will get it that there are a lot of machines out there with this problem. I am sure they will not issue a recall but handle them on a case by case basis.
I am pretty sure these freezes and panics are not a software issue. Call Apple. There is strength in numbers.
    Good luck

  • New Macbook Pro 15 inch heat on the left and back bottom.  Also, Fan is constantly running although I am only using Safari and it is a month old machine

I have a new macbook pro about a month old.  Have not used for anything but internet browsing it is a 15" machine, I can feel the heat from the left corner and back bottom.  Also, the fan is constantly running.  Is this something I can do to resolve.

Fans are supposed to run whenever the Mac is on. Default/minimun speed is 2000RPM.
How hot is hot? Mine is running the CPU cores at 45-50C, the Radeon GPU 35-40C when not engaged, the chassis sensors 30-38C. And current ambient temperature is 27C at my location. I currently have Safari, Mail, TextEdit and Temperature Monitor online.
If you want a quick check of what the Mac's hardware is up to, download & install the iStat Pro dashboard widget. If you want a detailed view of the 20 or so different temperature sensors on the thing, download & install Bresink's free Temperature Monitor. And if you want  to see ALL the different sensors it has, purchase Bresink's Hardware Monitor.
