MacBook Pro keeps saying password is incorrect

When I tried to log in to my macbook it keeps saying my password is incorrect and I am sure that it is correct I have checked that I am hitting the right keys and my caps lock is not on.  I also cannot reset my password as it requires my old password which is supposedly incorrect.

Reset it.

  • My MacBook Pro keeps saying The folder "Desktop" can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents.

My MacBook Pro keeps saying The folder “Desktop” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents.  I just took it in to the apple store a few weeks ago,  and since then I can't go into my desktop, I cant download anything to my computer.

Choose Home from the Finder's Go menu, click on the Desktop item, choose Get Info from the File menu, and give yourself read and write access in the Sharing & Permissions section.

My macbook pro keeps saying I have 450 gigabytes out of 500 that are used.  But when I look on finder there are no files that are anywhere close to that amount.  I went through and deleted files from my mac and now I only have 10 gigabytes of additional space free. My mac now says I have 440 gigs of other that is used. But does not make sense, do I have a virus?

Since you have not identified the OS your MBP is using, these extract may or may not assist you.

You may also download from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper (free) and open it it will show all of the files on your MBP and the respective sizes.

  • Erase data and all content on iPhone5, but unable to do so, it keeps asking password and keeps saying password is incorrect

I bought new iPhone6, I got all data updated from icloud to new iPhone6.
Now I want to erase all contents from iPhone5
    But unable to do so.
Every time it keeps asking for Apple ID password, even though i enter correct password, it keeps saying password is incorrect...

You have apps that need updating that were purchased with that other account.
To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • Why does my macbook pro keeping saying it is not supported when I try to connect it to other devices?

My macbook pro keeps saying its not supported when i try to transfer images and stuff from my macbook pro to my iphone 4. What do I do?

First, put your images into iPhoto or into a separate folder. Open iTunes and connect your phone. Select the iPhone under the Devices section of iTunes' sidebar. Click on the Photos tab in iTunes' main window. From the dropdown menu you can select iPhoto or some other folder from which to sync the photos to your phone.

My friend gave me her wifi password so I can connect at her house. I onnected my iPhone with no problems. But when I try to connect my MacBook Pro I keep getting a message that the password is invalid. You would do better to ask in the Mac Forum - this is the iPad forum.

  • My new Macbook won't connect to my wifi network - it keeps saying "password incorrect" - but I've tested it on my phone and works fine, I've checked the password I enter is correct digit for digit - what could the problem be?

you need to open the keychain access located in your utilities folder in the applications and once in the keychain on the left side click on the words system at the top and in the lower section click on passwords
next look in the striped area for any passwords that say airport network password next to kind and highlight those and hit delete on the keyboard to remove them from the keychain.
once you remove all of these airport passwords, quit the keychain
turn wifi off then back on, select your wifi network from the list and enter the password telling it to save to keychain this should resolve your issue!

  • Gmail was hacked so I changed password now my Macbook pro keeps giving me error message can't retrieve gmail

Gmail account was hacked so I changed my gmail password. Now my macbook pro keeps sending me and error message that says:
ogging in to the Google IMAP server “imap.gmail.com” failed. So then I go to mail and Preferences and change the passwords there including the SMTP and I STILL get the error message. I am going to lose it! Some one PLEASE tell me how to fix this. Thanks

Mail has TWO servers, a sender and a receiver. Each has a password that is not necessarily the same as the other.
Inside Mail use the Window Menu to select Connection Doctor, to see which side is connecting and which side is failing. Then adjust the password on the side that is not working.
Don't count on the receipt of emails supposedly from you as the sender as an indication that your email Account has been hacked. More often, an Address Book on a distant computer of a school kid's mom or an eBay trading partner is the computer whose Address book has been stolen, with your email address in it. A spam generator then sends out thousands of fake emails, supposedly from you.

  • Does the macbook pro have a password protect feature?

i'm debating whether or not I need the Kensington ComboSaver Notebook Lock for college. if the macbook pro has a password-protect feature... maybe i don't need the lock

How would they know there was a password?  Are you hoping to be able to say, "Excuse me, sir, but please don't steal my laptop, it's password protected."  A thief wouldn't care, even if they slowed down to listen... they'd just erase your hard drive and sell the machine.  (Or maybe not even erase the hard drive.)
Password protection is possible on many levels, some more secure than others, but none will discourage theft.  Password protection's role is to protect against things ranging from casual snooping to determined spying, and the method used determines what can be protected against.  For true data security, you must use encryption.
However, if you're looking to keep your laptop from getting stolen, you need to simply keep it close, or locked up when not adequately close.  A security cable would be a good investment for leaving a computer unattended in a dorm room or apartment.

  • My Macbook Pro keeps closing my programs...

My Macbook Pro keeps closing my programs while I am working on them and then logs me out and I have to put my password. I lose everything I was doing, every time. Any suggestions?
I'm very concerened because I just got this last year, its not even a year old and its starting to mess up.

Boot into your Recovery partition (hold down the Command and R keys whilst booting) and opeb Disk Utility. First repair Permissions. Then use Disk Utility to first verify and, if needed, repair your boot volume. If it can be repaired, you'll get green text saying that everything seems to be OK: if it fails, you'll get a red text message that the volume can't be repaired.
    Call back with your results.
