MacBook Pro keys wont light up.

Please help me. Only three of my keys light up, and this is really bothering me. Everything was working until a little drop of Pepsi spilt onto my Delete key. I took a swab and mixed it with alcohol and water to remove the stickyness. Shortly after, the majority of my keys will not light up. What can I do?

Check the keyboard preferences and ensure "Turn off when computer is not used for: " is set for greater than one minute. Maybe you have checked this already but could be the source of your problem.
Duh....I wouldn't have gone though the trouble of doing a fresh install of the OS on a new partition if that slider would have solved the problem!
You can set that slider to 5 mins or never, but it always goes off in less the a minute!

  • Upgraded macbook pros key board lights wont work after 10.7 upgrade

I have a macBook Pro model A1260. The Hard drive was replaced along with a super drive. This is a new experience but have finally gotten it up and running with Mountain lion. After a restart the keyboard lights stopped working. They had been functioning after the hard drive install but sadly remain dark after the new X upgrade. Hitting the illumination key for the keys shows a circle with a line through it on the screen. The keys still function. Did I fry something? Joeza

thoughts-?? Macbook is 6 months old and on second hard drive ( failure after 45 days).

Hey! exact same thing happens to me... I use the keyboard shortcut to turn off the screen which is ctrl - shift - eject button. Then just poke a key and it wakes up again fine, it doesn't fix the problem but at elast you don't have to reboot. x

Help! My MacBook Pro keys Q-O aren't not working. I've tried doing a Pram restart, but it won't work as keys P & R aren't working, and I can't login as my password contains broken keys. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

This can be used to boot the machine and delelte enough files to get it to boot normally.

  • MacBook pro screen wont turn on mechine turns on but front sleep light is dim

So I was just browsing on chrome on my MacBook pro and suddenly the screen froze and from the top of the screen it started to get dim and came down right to the center of the screen and then another black shade ontop of that came down and stopped in the middle it did this until the top half was completely dark but the bottom half is ok and nothing happend oh by the way I was just on Facebook I wasn't on a website that was harmful to the Mac so any ways I then I held the power button until it turns off thinking it would work normaly but it didnt, when I turned it on I heard the fan turn really fast and then it slowed down and the front sleep light came on and it stayed like that, i could also hear the hard drive spinning inside I closed it and the sleep light is on  it but now it brighter and it's not even going dark and bright like its supposed to do when it's sleeping. Can someone please help?

    Try a SMC reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If no joy try a pramreset: power off the MBP, power back up, before the start chime press and hold optio, command, P, R, and continue tohold them until your the chime 2 times then release. Reboot.
If still not happy try a safe boot, power up  holding the shift key, continue to hold the key until you the progress bar and gear then release. This will show if it could be a third party software problem, this will boot the MBP with only essential applications running. Be patient as this takes longer than normal. Try things out, if normal, shut down and restart and see if things are still messed up.

  • 2011 Macbook Pro 13, green light on magsafe, but not charging, not powering on

Hi there, I have a Macbook Pro 13 early 2011 i5, and it's stoped working, when it's on the charger the green light comes on, when i pres battery indicator on the side of mbp there is only one green light flashing. when i press power button nothing hapends, mbp wont turn on, i have tried to do the reset, did not helped. Maby someone had, the same problem and knows how to fix it, or knows if its completle dead, and not worth to fix. Thanks

Take the machine to an Apple Store or an AASP and have them run diagnostics on it. They will give you a quote on how much it would cost to fix your machine. Then you can decide if it's worth repairing or if its just time to replace it.
I'm assuming that you didn't buy the extended AppleCare warranty? Too bad - if you had the machine would likely be repaired free of charge...

  • MacBook Pro Retina Wont Connect back to Monitor

    Hey Everyone,
I have a MacBook Pro Retina Early 2013 15in that is running OS X Yosemite - 10.10.2 - Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
At Work for the past 1.5 years i have been connecting to a Dell Monitor via a DVI to HDMI Cable to use as my primary screen and have never had any issues. During the day I often present on the projector in the BoardRoom a Dell 4610X using a direct HDMI cable.
The issue: Ever since I have updated my laptop to Yosemite, every time i connect my macbook to my monitor after its been connected to the projector it will no longer connect. The monitor will recognize that there is something connected but it wont show anything. Even if i try another display in the office the same thing happens. The issue will always resolve if i restart the computer.
Recently I had an issue with the Logic Board and it was replaced by an Apple Certified repair shop. This issue was happening even before the logic board was replaced and it is still having the same issues now, so I don't believe its an hardware issue.
Although this issue is not critical, its a nuisance to re-start my laptop each time i get back to my desk after a meeting in the boardroom...
I would high appreciate some help on this!!
    Thanks in Advance

  • My aged MacBook pro won't light up. Now what?

As stated: it's a MacBook Pro of roughly 2008 vintage. I've left it unused for a couple years, due mostly to my iPad acquisition. It was running OK when I last used it. Now, though I've recharged it and doned a Opt-Cmd-P-R reset, I get no screen lighting up. (I do hear the drive chunking quietly, I do get the keyboard lights and the power cord did turn from orange to green.) No access to the screen, so I'm feeling stuck about what to do next.
    Any help much appreciated!
    Thanks;
    Ray

is the display turned way down or something?  On my new computer, I can turn my brightness all the way down untill the backlit turns off.
I am just throwing ideas out there, so I am not all postive about this post.

  • Macbook Pro Key issue

I have a 13 inches macbook pro which is still under warranty.
Unfortunately one of the keys came out and when i took it to the service centre i got a reply that the outer part of the key is damaged and cannot be replaced.
I was told that it's a "physical damage" and will not be covered warranty.
The solution, according to the service center, is to get the entire key board replaced...
I am disappointed and shocked to know that apple does not provide us with spare key caps.
Just to point out, the inside hinges are undamaged so effectively its the key cap that needs replacement.
If i have to shell out a handsome amount of money just to get a minor thing fixed then i am better off without a mac....
    Really disappointed
