Macbook Pro line out hissing (HW rev: 8,2)

I just got a new 2011 Macbook Pro, the headphones line out has way too much hissing. All my windows laptop HP/Dell/Lenovo have non, this is pretty bad for an expensive Mac. Is there any fix?
Thanks,
Daniel.

I asked some of my friends about this and it seems that it's not as noticable on their Macs as they have different headphones, I'm using high-end Shure SE530 Sound Isolating Earphones, which are very sensitve and I have the sound level turned right down to one or two bars on my Mac.

  • New macbook pro line

hello i was wondering if they will release a new macbook pro line like late 2011 early 2012 because i wan't to get one but last time i bought a mac the new one came out a week later

It is purely speculation at this point so I don't think anything will be very accurate but if you look at the history of releases, MacBook Pros have been refreshed in early spring late winter.

You can try a commercial lens cleaner.  They are sold everywhere for little expense.

  • Does anyone know when the new macbook pro comes out ?

im wondering if there will be a new macbook pro version sometimes this year  or when was the last uptade or the last macbook pro came out.. thanx

If I'm not mistaken, retail versions of Windows 7 come with both the 64 bit and 32 bit DVDs in the package (it doesn't make sense for them to market two separate packaged versions).  If you purchased it online via the Microsoft Store for download, they allow you to go back and download either version as well.  Provided you have a legit version of Windows 7, you should have access to either version.
Either version should work fine on a current Macbook Pro.

  • The audio on my macbook pro cuts out after a few minutes.

The audio on my macbook pro cuts out after a few minutes. It sounds like all the low end is removed. I still hear audio but it is MUCH lower and sounds filtered. I can barely hear it maxed out. Nothing attached (no external drives, no speakers, etc) and it's only a few days old.

Apple store pronto.  If need be (if less than 14 days from purchase) exchange for a new one!
    Ciao.

I will be out of town for two months, will my MacBook Pro drain out by then?
If yes what precautions should I take??

    mmnoble88,
I mean that it should not be charged higher than 50% prior to a period of not being used. If its battery is higher than 50% just before you head out of town, you should let it discharge until it’s at 50% or less.

  • Does a macbook pro work out of the united states?

i will like to know if a macbook pro work out of the united states because i would want to buy one and use it out of the united states

It will work anywhere, and the warranty is valid world wide. You will probably need to buy some sort of power plug adapter for the USA two-pronged power plug into whatever country socket you intend visiting.

  • My MACBOOK Pro turned out to be Snow Leopard, and later upgraded to LION. And update the EFI, I would like to replace the Snow Leopard, EFI can not boot, how do? How to use the Snow Leopard install disk to reduce EFI?

My MACBOOK Pro turned out to be Snow Leopard, and later upgraded toLION. And update the EFI, I would like to replace the Snow Leopard, EFIcan not boot, how do? How to use the Snow Leopard install disk to reduce EFI?

Do you mean some of your software does not work in Lion? Do you want to return to using Snow Leopard? If so, then do this:
    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • Help! My macbook pro fell out of my bag on to asphalt!!

My macbook pro fell out of my bag on to asphalt and kinda pushed in the rubber feet, top left , near the power port. It was in a foam kind of case which protected it somewhat. except for the top left corner, which has a hole in it. That hole scared me cause apparently the fall was hard enough to slice the material. MBP seems to be working fine though it is wobbly now cause of the pushed in feet. I worry though, if there are internal problems. Could pushed in feet affect the inside. also, if i bring it in to an apple store for them to check, will they void my warranty? My MBP is less than a months old!

Anything is possible after such an event, but the damage may not be something a tech can see.  Your machine could, unfortunately, stop working at any point, requiring costly repairs to get it working again.  Or it could keep working in this condition for years.  There's no real way to know.  Just keep using it, make sure to maintain a very good set of frequently-updated backups, and don't worry about it until you have to.

  • How fast do "old" MacBook Pros go out of stock?

How fast do MacBooks and MacBook Pros go out of stock in stores after the latest update announcements each year?
If the rumors that Apple will discontinue installing internal optical drives in their MacBook Pros, then I would want to buy the "older" model before it goes out of stock because I use the opticle drives A LOT for burning and reading physical media, and also like to have hard copy backups of expensive software so that it won't disppear like it would if the hard drive on a backup disk failed.
I think it would be unlikely they would completly discontinue including optical drives, but very plausible that they could discontinue including them in the 13-inch models of the MacBook Pro to save battery life. However, I don't want to have to pay an extra $500-$700 just to get the 15-inch model either.

Always buy the latest model when upgrading. Just get an external DVD drive.

  • MacBook Pro logs out before Time Capsule has finished backing up

I can't seem to get the initial back-up done, my MacBook Pro logs out before Time Capsule has a chance to finish backing up, approximately 95GB to complete and it only gets to 12 or 15GB. Any ideas?

You should try taking the battery out and putting it back in, but then if that doesn't work, you should take it into your Apple Retail Store and have a genius at the Genius Bar take a look. That seems like a hardware problem to me.

  • Macbook Pro Line In at Windows

    Hello,
I have an Macbook Pro Retina 15" mid 2012 and want to use windows as second OS. After i used my Apple Headset under OS X for Skype i would like to use it even under Windows. But the mic doesn't works, after some research i found out that the driver is buggy.
But i found only a fixed Driver for the Cirrus Logic CS4206A, my macbook has the CS4206B. Both are not listed at Cirrus Logic and the provide no support.
Has someone found a working driver ?
The Driver which is provided by Apple does not support the Line In an there is no new available.
    Regards,
    Martin

This is what I'm putting in:
For mapping of the "K:" drive (which is the public drive)
    smb://000.000.0.00/Public$
For mapping of the "U:" drive (which is the graphic designer "private" folder")
    smb://000.000.0.00/GraphicDesignPrivate$
You can use the Jonathan's account: username with password password
This obviously isn't the real address, username and password because it's propietary.
This is the error message I receive:
Could not connect to server because name or password is incorrect.
Other people who know their username and password are correct have tried to login to the server from my computer, but they get the same message; in lowercase or caps.
    Does that help?

  • Am I being unreasonable (macbook pro smoking out the back)?

Well received my macbook pro that I was excited about getting for the last week.. open it up and start going through the welcome screen, get to the desktop and try connecting to my wireless. At this point the screen flickers and smoke rolls out the back of my macbook pro. Great, less then 10 minutes of use and the thing is smoking/unuseable.
Call tech support and all the usual liability questions like did you call the fire dept etc.. Im pretty nice about it considering id waited a week and then got less then 10 minutes of use out of it.
Finally they send me to product support which asks me if I want a replacement. Of course I want a replacement what am I going to do with this thing? Get down to the shipping labels and I ask if they are going to wait to receive mine before they ship out the replacement to which she kind of stumbles and then says yes thats usually how we do it. I told her thats not going to work and they need to ship it out ASAP and not wait for mine to get there because ive already waited a week for a dud and now am going to be tight on time between getting this laptop and school starting up again.
She says she sent in a request to do this and I should hear within 48 hours. Alls I have to say is it better be alot less then 48 hours or im going to be really ******.
    Am I being unreasonable?

Don't hold your breath. It's not her call. They won't risk sending out a product to you at the risk that you are lying to them. The best they should be able to do is send out the replacement as soon as they can see a tracking #. But again, I wouldn't count on it. The good news is, if you send it out the day you get your box, Apple should receive your toasted machine the next day. They don't cut any costs when it comes to shipping.
I don't get it....it seems like they are offering you
everything they can...what is the point of this thread???
I imagine the point is to further illustrate Apple's poor quality control. Being a Pc to Mac convert, I am vindicated if not satisfied with Apple's inability to create a flawless (or anything near) product after all the hype I had previously heard from my MAC friends ("crash-proof," "virus-proof")
To be fair, it seems that the new Intel line of Apple brand computers are the only ones that seem to be exhibiting DOA and short-lifetime malfunctions on such a catastrophic level.
