Macbook pro lion 10.7.3 no wifi hardware installed

After doing loads of reading and rearch into the WIFI issues, plus having an older 2008  MBP which wasn't under Applecare support/warranty, trying various tricks to get it back <command> <option> R P power off/on, batter out, holding down 5 secs...blar blar blar, the problem always returning at some point, I gave up and purchased a USB WIFI adapter from amazon.com for ~$25.
ASUS (USB-N10) wireless-N USB Adapter
http://www.amazon.com/USB-N10-wireless-N-Transmit-Interface-software/dp/B003E649 3G
However, upon arrival, installing it and loading the driver from the provided CD,  it didn't work.  The driver/software was for 10.6.  After searching the web, I managed to find the driver for 10.7.3.   Downloaded it and once installed, the USB-N10 worked!

HOW FUNNY!  I must have had a response from the same MUPPET as you who said it's not supported!!!   I'd sent them the solution, as their product runs with realtek drivers, and they have a driver which supports mac 10.7!!
I can confirm it works. It's a realtek driver with details here:
http://www.realtek.com/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=48&Level =5&Conn=4&ProdID=231
Scroll down and you'll see the software link under Download Software
http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=48&Lev el=5&Conn=4&ProdID=231&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true
Scroll down and here you'll see support for MAC OSX 10.7 Install Package(UI ver.1.9.7) and you can select a download site. You can actually now download it, as before I couldn't.
When I tried I couldn't, so I found the driver at another location :-
http://www.wireless-driver.com/realtek-rtl8192su-adapter-macos-drivers-ver1082/
Downloaded it and once installed, the USB-N10 worked!
I do have the odd connection issue with it when it cant' get an IP address from the DHCP server on my wireless router.  Even if I had code the IP.  However, 95% of the time it's ok.
Hope this helps!!

  • The wifi on my macbook pro (lion) is ridiculously slow. the wifi on my pc works perfectly though. how could i fix this?

So I recently bought my MacBook Pro, about three days ago, and the wifi connection is horrible. I can barely access anything on the internet. I tried using my PC laptop, and the wifi worked very quickly, so the problem definitely isn't my wifi connection and has to do something with the MacBook Pro. What would be the problem? And how would I be able to resolve this problem?
By the way, I am using the OS X Lion and this is my first Mac ever.

I think the other devices are fine.  I'm not sure.  It usually only happens like a couple days out of the week.  I do know that the network I'm using when I click on the wifi symbol at the top of my screen doesn't have a padlock on it.  It IS MY network that is at my house, but maybe that has something to do with it.

  • Lion 10.7.1 No Wifi hardware installed

This is driving me nuts x10. Every time I close the lid and open it the wifi vanishes. It takes 3 restarts to get it back. I've tried every suggested fix and none work. Apple, please sort this out ASAP. We are dedicated Mac users but we're feeling pretty bad about Lion or whatever is causing this issue.

To see if your Mac works with AirDrop, make sure you’re in the Finder by clicking the desktop (the background area of your screen), or by clicking the Finder icon in the Dock. Then, check to see if AirDrop is listed as an option in the Go menu. If you don't see AirDrop listed, your Mac doesn't support this feature.

  • I have a new macbook pro.  I'm seeing my wife's iphone contacts on my icloud.  I can't figure out how to get my iphone contacts synced up with my new macbook and get rid of her contacts.  Suggestions?

I have a new macbook pro.  I'm seeing my wife's iphone contacts on my icloud.  I've done everything I know to do to make sure my apple id is correct and has my information.  I can't figure out how to remove her contacts and add my iphone contacts to the cloud or my macbook pro.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro forum. This is the forum for the 13” white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • How do I set up two separate iTunes accounts on one MacBook Pro in order to manage the wife's iPhone and my iPhone? Can this be done?

How do I set up two separate iTunes accounts on one MacBook Pro in order to manage the wife's iPhone and my iPhone (with separate info on each of course) ? Can this be done? A little step by step would be greatly appreciated; just short step by step though, I can follow fairly well.
    Kindest Regards,
    Phil T.

You would each need to use your own user account on the Mac, you can do this at system preferences > users & groups.

    Hello NotAppleSavy,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the computer wont connect to networks. I see you have used network diagnostic. I would recommend that you read this article, there are a lot of other things you can do in this article that may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

Can I install iDVD (only) from an iLife 11 CD on a new (late 2011) on-line MacBook Pro/Lion purchase that no longer included it?

Purchasing iLife 11 on disk is an easy thing to do. ILife 11 will include iDVD.
If you have iDVD on another Macintosh you can transfer it to your new computer. That procedure has been discussed here many times, if you do a search you will find that procedure.

So, about a week ago my macbook pro started having lots of issues: wifi connectivity, slow performance, sound issues, spotlight wasn't working. After going through the issues with apple support, they decided the best course of action was to erase the hard drive and do a reinstall. Since I have a recent backup this seemed like a good enough option. They were kind enough to send me a copy of the snow leopard disk to do the install since we couldn't get it to complete through the disk utility. Not sure why, since it says we are fully connected, it just never completed.
Anyway, so now that you have the background here is the new issue. The macbook pro keeps spitting out the disk I'm trying to install from. Disk utility and using the 'Startup Disk' function from the apple menu doesn't read the disk.
Can anyone suggest a solution to this vexing problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    Jeremy.Laurin,
have you tried agb76’s approach here?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Setting up new ipad 2. Won't accept my PW for my Airport Extreme (Wi Fi network?)  Where is the PW for my WiFi? I am stymied. Can I set up through My MacBook Pro, which IS connected to my WiFi network?

Setting up new ipad 2. Won't accept my PW for my Airport Extreme (Wi Fi network?)  Where is the PW for my Wi Fi? I am stymied. Can I set up through my MacBook Pro, which IS connected to my WiFi network?

If you could provide the make and model number of the modem that the AirPort Extreme will be connecting to, we can likely tell you a bit more about what to expect in the way of getting the AirPort set up and working.
Unfortunately, "plug and play" does not apply here. You will need to set up and configure the AirPort Extreme using your iPad or iMac to name the AirPort as a device, assign a device password, name the wireless network, assign a device password and a few other things.
Once the AirPort Extreme is set up, you can connect the PC to one of the LAN <--> ports on the AirPort Extreme using an Etherent cable.
The iPad and iMac will connect to the wireless network that the AirPort Extreme provides.

  • I have a new macbook pro lion, have a latest version of flash player but still videos play with black screen.  Please help. Thanks

    Hello everyone,
I have checked and tried some advices here on "discussions", about playing video on youtube for example on a MacBook Pro lion.  I have the latest Flash player but it still doesn't work.  Please help.  Thanks in advance..

    Hi,
if you are using a SAFARI you don't need to install a flash player, it comes insatlled already, you can check that on safari toolbar.
Help>Installed Plug-ins> and then check for shockwave flash player etc.
i have a early 2011 macbookpro and have never needed to install any flash payer unlike on windows.
that's if your are using safari.
    Thanks
