Yes
or will it blow up? lol
No
The other way around (Macbook charger on a Macbook Pro) may have mixed results. The Macbook charger may not be able to meet the power demands of the MBP, preventing it from charging.

  • Charging a MacBook Pro (60 MagSafe) with an Air (45w MagSafe) plug.

Can I safely charge a MacBook Pro (60 MagSafe) with a MacBook Air wall charger (45w MagSafe)?  I ask because I'm replacing a 2009 MacBook Pro with a new Air and the Pro cord is dead. I'd like to charge the pro with the air charger so I can transfer files.

The short answer is NO.  MacBook Airs use the 45 Watt adaptors, 13" MacBook Pros use the 60Watt and the 15 and larger use an 85Watt adaptor.
You can use a larger size to chage one that needs a smaller wattage, but not the other way around.

Yes. Treat its Thunderbolt port as if it was a Mini DisplayPort when choosing an adapter.

  • Plantronics Voyager Pro headset NOT compatible with 3GS

I've been having terrible problems with my Plantronics Voyager pro all singing and all dancing bluetooth headset and my 3GS.
I've tried 2 units to no avail and have a long case log with Plantronics support.
Apparently the inbuilt noise cancelling "intelligence" in the headset is conflicting with the iPhone noise cancelling electronics, producing a terrible user experience and is not just specific to Plantronics headsets, but all those that rely on headset noise-cancelling (like the Jawbone etc..)
Anyway, I notice that Plantronics have now changed their website to advise that the Voyager Pro is NOT compatible with the 3GS (in fact is seems like none of the noise-cancelling ones are)
This seems like a schoolboy error on Apple's part and speaking to Plantronics, they have no idea if and when a resolution is likely to be forthcoming!

I wish I had known this a few months ago. I had an original iPhone using a Plantronics Voyager 510. Everyone always said it was like I was in the same room talking to them. I bought a new 3Gs, and a Plantronics Voyager Pro. I seem to be able to hear just fine, but people I talk to keep having me repeat everything. Most people say it sounds like I'm talking to them from inside a hole somewhere. I got my headset last July. I switched back to my old bluetooth headset, it didn't resolve the problem, so I know it wasn't the Voyager Pro. I thought it might be interference from the metal cover I had bought from AT&T to protect the iPhone, and removing the cover seemed to give people better clarity, but they still complain. Now for long conversations I've had to return to using a corded headset.

  • Is MAC Pro (late 2013) compatible with Intel E5 or E7 Series 10 core CPU

Is MAC Pro (late 2013) compatible with Intel E5 or E7 series 10 core CPU?

    http://macperformanceguide.com/MacPro2013-CPU-upgrade.html
Someone did some testing and these Xeon processors scale differently, turbo-boost means it can put a core to sleep when it isn't needed and give more to the cores that are.
But, the number of apps that do use more than 8-core are in short supply.
Then there is the contention between cooling and whether the cpu or the twin GPUs get preference, OS X won't allow both to ask for full 100%.
We assume you know all there is about cpu scaling and usage and just need to see which ones are on Intel's list that are pin compatible and have the right thermal requirements and such.
Fall is always IDF and v3 of the E5

  • Is Logic Pro 8 Academic compatible with snow leopard?

I am having trouble getting Logic Pro 8 running since I've upgraded to snow Leopard.   I was thinking perhaps it wasn't working because it is the academic version?  I know that the regular retail Logic Pro 8 is compatible, so I'm trying to diagnose the crashing at startup problem I seem to be having with Logic and all my other music related programs since my OS upgrade.  Thanks for any help.

    Hi
The Academic version is identical, so there should be no problem.
Sounds like it may be this (it can affect Logic 8 too)

  • Macbook pro a1278 magsafe

I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro a1278. When I plug in the magsafe it is green and then changes to orange and charges the battery. As soon as I hit the power button the light goes to green for about 10s and then back to orange. The macbook does not start up, no fans spin and no signs of life.

So is your problem that the MBP doesn't start or you have an problem with your charger? There may be a short in the charging circuit and the battery is dead and the charger doesn't work. Take it in for a look see at an Apple store or AASP.

  • Macbook Pro Retina Magsafe extremely hot?

Hi, ive owned the macbook pro retina 15" for around 6 months now and its great, but ive notice from when i first had it that the magsafe adapter gets extremely hot, i mean if i touch it for more than 1 second it burns like mad. Ive also noticed when i have it on the table or if i use it on the couch sometimes that it seems to be seems melting my leather on my couch a little bit, i do mainly have it on the floor but i like to keep it up on the couch so the dogs cant chew it as they had a tendency to chewing. So is it supposed to get extremely hot like that? thanks

Forgot to add, twice now the magsafe has gotten so hot that it turns off? i then have to wait for it to cool down and unplug it for 5-10 mins. This happened within 30 mins of each other.

  • MacBook and MacBook Pro hard drives compatible?

    Hi everyone
I want to upgrade the hard drive on my 2006 13" macbook. It is currently 80GB. I have just bought a new MacBook Pro with a 320GB hard drive. Can i use this hard drive for my MacBook and buy a 500GB hard drive for my MBP?
    Many thanks

As far as I know, it may not be able to be done.  But you can double check with AppleCare.  The datapath of all 2010 Macs is 3 Gbps.  The datapath of all 2006 Macs is 1.5 Gbps.  It is on the manufacturer specs.  I don't know if Apple has any method of installing its new drives on older machines.  2009 was the big transition year, where firmware was offered.  I've gotten off support with OWC, at http://www.macsales.com/ and they at least tell me they believe their drives should all work on 2006 Macs, in spite of this conundrum.  But again, the manufacturer is the one who can tell you if they believe it will work on pre-3 Gbps transition machines without issue.
