If you MBP is under warranty, do take it in to a repair facility and have it examined.

  • MacBook Pro making odd noises?

I was cleaning my desk off the other day and decided to put my MacBook Pro on my butterfly chair so I could clean under it. Of course, my MBP decides to fall off the chair and bounce onto the carpet. When I turned it on, it started making weird sounds for about 10 seconds and then stopped. The piece of metal above the button that opens it is also sticking out. Is there any way to stop it from making noises?

That's what I'm starting to resign myself to I was hoping to find a fix without paying tons of money!

  • MacBook Pro making chirping noises

    Hello all,
Recently my 15" Macbook pro has been making some strange noises when I put it into sleep mode.
If I either close the lid of my Macbook, keave it too long so auto sleep kicks in or press the 'off' button then select 'sleep' the Macbook will start making a chirping noise. This noise seems to come from the hard drive (I know it's coming from the right side of the track pad). The Macbook then will not wake up, I am forced to hold the power button until it force shuts down.
I took it into the Genius bar and they ran diagnostic and disk utility tests over and over again until they came to the verdict that my Mac's hard drive was running perfectly. They asked me to back up my data and come back in to have it wiped and Lion re-installed. I haven't managed to go back yet and whenever I try to use TimeMachine to backup my data there is an unspecified error. I can't imagine how a software reinstallation could fix what seems to be a hard ware problem?
I was able to keep using my Mac (with the aid of 'Caffine' to stop it from sleeping) until recently. I use a Mac adapter (miniport) plugged into a normal VGA cord to watch movies from my Mac on my Panasonic Viera TV. Whenever I plugged in the mini port the Mac aspect ratio would change (I had it to 'mirror image', not a custom ratio) and when it was unplugged it would change back. However recently, when my Mac starts up it was in the aspect ratio as if I had it plugged in to the TV, the ratio would change back just before the login screen would come up. I took no notice of this as it didn't affect the Mac's performance. Only two days ago, when I started up my Mac a white screen came up. The white screen was in the VGA aspect ratio and was followed by a few 'chirps'. Now my Mac will stay at that screen and will not load. I cannot seem to use any of the recovery start ups or safety start ups.
I am planning on taking it back in to the genius bar but if anyone has a solution it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Macbook is making weird noises

    Hello,
I am experiencing weird squeaky noise from my Macbook Pro's body (Latest Retina 15", 16gb ram, 256gb storage, 2GHz i7) and weird clicking noises when opening and closing the lid. I rarely go out with my Macbook and I am super careful with it always. Why is this happening? Can it be fixed? Can my 1 year warranty cover this?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Your MacBook Pro has a sudden motion sensor which parks the hard drive heads to prevent damage when it's moved while on.
You have a 1 year warranty on any defects if it turns out to be something else.

  • Macbook pro making buzzing noises when using google chrome

I have had a Macbook Pro for at least 3 years. I have always used Google Chrome(in fact as I am writing this it began making this noise while using Safari) to use Google Drive to work on my homework to do other things as well since I find it easiest to use for school. Recently my computer has started making a very loud buzzing noise near the fan areas when I use Google Chrome and it worries me. It had that problem before, but when I took it in before I thought the problem had been fixed. Now 2 years later it is making that noise again and it only goes away when I put my computer to sleep. I am unsure as to what to do about it and it worries me because it is getting to the point where I can't even use my computer to work on it.
Please help or give some advice on what to do.

Open the bottom and use a can of compressed air and clean out your fan for dust and possible plastics stuck near fan blade. It will help and if needed replace fan           https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mu6tKVqdgGI

  • Brand New MacBook Pro making clicking noise whenever unibody is touched

This is rather strange. and i find it disturbing.
i just got my brand new macbook pro with i7.... and i put it on my lap, everytime I type or slightly touch the side of the computer (say areas next to the mouse pad), the computer internally is making those clicking noise sound like something is being bent, it is hard to explain, but all the tiny clicking and popping sound....at the start i thought it was the ethernet cable, the metal connectors were flicking against something, but then i realised its not...
when we put our hands on the laptop and type, we are bound to press on the surface of the unibody, and this annoying sound is happening all the time. i can say it doesnt sound like a HD sound, it just sounds like metal clicking against each other or something

I have the exact same problem on my brand new i7 MBP 15. The clicks are very high in pitch and sharp, and startling like something is breaking, and happen frequently. They seem to happen quite for no apparent reason other than, you know, I click the trackpad-button or something. The clicks seem to be coming from the left side... possibly lower left but I can't be certain. (It does agree with your ethernet impression.)
It does not feel acceptable at all-- I'd be very surprised if Apple thinks this is "normal."
The timing is totally random. I can't seem to really cause it on demand.
Anecdotally, it seems to only happen when running on my lap. I can't find anything in my keys or wallet that affects the computers, so I'm not sure if this is related.
And NO, it's absolutely positively NOT freefall detection that's causing this. You can verify this by simulating freefall (safely!). Hold the computer firmly, and lower it somewhat quickly by several inches. You get a very different, soft click that's not whatsoever alarming. This softer "parking" click also comes from a different place in the computer, on the right hand side.

  • Macbook Pro making loud noise

Hi, I am writing because I recently purchased (not really about two months ago) purchased a Macbook Pro. Now I have had this problem since the week after I bought my computer. I never brought it in because, well it was a present from my father and it seemed kind of like, I felt like scared because since it did cost 2,000$ I was scared to tell him. (I am younger than 16, so I have grounds to be scared.) So the problem is there is a loud noise that sounds like a messed up fan, but its sadly not, it comes from the top left of my computer. Next to the speaker spot, I don't even use my computer. It's like Manufacture settings because since it was broken I never wished to use it. So basically the noise is to the point where I would rather keep the computer off than turn it on. Now I am willing to do anything to get it fixed. I just wish I could use it without having to hear this noise.

If it's a manufacturer defect, it's covered. If it was caused by damage/mistreatment, then no. The fans should be quiet (and the cool the chips, mainly)...during heavy CPU activity you may hear them, but the sound should not be loud, and you'll mostly hear the moving air. I'd recommend taking it in.

It would help if you could describe the noise...does it sound like a clicking, or rubbing, or hum?  Where does it sound like it is originating?  When does it make the sound?

why my macbook pro making lot of noise inside. Is it something to do my shutting down. I usually shut down my system in every week.
Can anybody provide any solution on this.

What kind of noise and when?  There are fans inside that run at various noise levels keeping things at the right temperature.  There is a hard drive, unless you have SSD, that can make noise when the stepping motor moves the track arm.  There is an optical drive that makes noise at startup.
There are noises when you move the MBP and the motion sensor engages.

  • Why is my iPad making weird noises?

Lately my iPad has been making weird noises. It only happens sometimes  not always. Nothing happens when im normally surfing internet or  anything without sound emitting from it. Usually i can listen to songs  or watch and listen to videos without any problem but it is happening a  lot today. While listening to anything the sound is like echoing and is  louder than usual. (It sounds like it is coming from really old poor  quality speakers with the loudest volume) This happens even when a small  sound is made for e.g, when u receive a notification. This gets worse  at the moment i close my iPad. After closing it the weird drilling noise  lasts for 2-4 seconds. Last week the same thing happened prior to when  iPad COMPLETELY lost sound for a day. And then it came back when i  connected my iPad to laptop and then restarted iPad. (Even though i had  restarted it twice before). Also i cant take it to an Apple store  because there is no apple store nearby.
I have an iPad mini, with iOS 7.0.4
I also use headphones they work perfectly but the manufacturing company  is not that great so is it because of not so good quality headphones?
Please answer asap i get a mini heart attack every time this happens.

    Try reset all settings
