  • Macbook Pro 2.6ghz i7 2013 system freeze when using Premiere/AME CC 2014

I have a Macbook Pro i7 2.6ghz form late 2013 and I have been experiencing some serious problems with my system freezing while using Premiere Pro and whilst rendering from AME.
I am running the latest version of CC (8.1) on OSX 10.9.5.
GFX card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB
    RAM: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
I have CUDA enabled, I need the performance boost so rendering previews of the CPU is not much of a option for me.
I have experienced this problem since I started running Premiere on my laptop (3 months ago). If I am doing any GPU hungry processes within Premiere or AME the system will freeze, when it freezes nothing will respond and the screen stays frozen, I have to do a manual shut down.
I went as far as replacing the whole laptop with Apple as they put it down to a faulty GFX card, the new one has the same problem which leads me to think that the problem is with how Premiere and AME work with the new Macbook Pro's.
These crashes happen up to three times a day if I'm doing a full day of editing and I have to make sure I don't push the system to hard to avoid it, the crashes don't tend to happen when I am editing 5D footage but they are quite frequent when editing 4k GH4 footage. I am working off multiple hard drives with valuable data which are put at risk when the system crashes. I normally work on a 6 core Mac Pro but next week I'll be pushing my laptop pretty hard with a full week of editing and I'd love to avoid these crashes.
If more info and specs are needed to identify the problem, I'll be happy to provide them.
    Cheers, Moja.
    ps.
My system just crashed twice today, once while writing this message, I had a project open in Premiere but I wasn't even editing, its currently 30 degrees in Melbourne, one of the hottest days of the year yet, which leads me to believe that the heat is contributing to the GFX card or CPU overloading.

I forgot to add that I have also updated to the latest nvidia card driver.
My music seems to keep playing when the crash occurs which suggests the hard drive and other components are still running fine, its just the GFX card that is crashing.
The GFX card may be a red herring if it still crashes in software mode and with the internal card.  The fact that you have music playing, however, may be a clue.  Programs that can access your audio hardware (like Soundflower) at the same time as Pr have been known to conflict and cause crashes.  Turn off any background audio processes.  Check your system audio settings, as well as Pr's audio and audio hardware settings. If you can, change the source of Pr's Desktop Audio in Preferences>Audio Hardware.  Try changing the ASIO settings.
The next (and most painful) step would be to work your way meticulously through this document:
Troubleshoot system errors, freezes | Mac OS 10.x | Adobe software
The "Re-create Adobe application preferences" step often helps a lot.
    Cheers,

  • MAcbook Pro 10.5.1 intermittently switching off when using battery only

Very recently, my macbook pro has started switching itself off. It only happen when using the battery and the charge meter (on the battery) still shows at least 50% charge. It would appear that I can not reboot wither until the mains are attached again. I no longer receive the warning message regarding reserve power, and have previously run the lappy down to 5-6% charge before a recharge.
I have had 10.5.1 installed since its release, and this issue has only just started in the last week, despite daily usage.
Has anyone else had this or similar issues? It seems unlikely thatt it is hardware and I've cchecked the connections and they appear ok. Please help, its very annoying.
    Thanks in advance,
    Graham

This sounds exactly like what was happening to me last fall - around Labor Day. This is a battery problem not an OS problem. I called Apple Care and they sent a new battery (after we tried all the PRAM stuff, etc.). The new battery took care of the problem.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

  • Macbook Pro 15 Late 11 extreme fans noise when using external monitor

Dear Apple, recently I bought Macbook Pro 15 Late 11. I really love it's speed and new OS X Lion, BUT this Macbook really noisy when I use external monitor and keyboard. I work on external monitor all the time. I don't care about how hot my Macbook is when I'm on external monitor. Let it just be hot and quiet.
P.S. Example. I run Ableton Live and have 6200 RPM working on external monitor (awfully loud!). CPU 90% idle. When I switch off external monitor and use internal one, RPM drops down to 4500 with the same Ableton work session. By the way, I don't need cool graphic card. Apple, let our work days be quiet.

I did that and it didn't help. It's common problem with an external monitor. Here are some links:

  • MacBook Pro Usable Resolution is 800 x 600 when using a Projector

We are having issues with the MacBook Pro8,1 using the Thunderbolt port and VGA adapter.
We are using the Creston Quick Media System with Epson 6155W. We can only get the message usable resolution is 800x600.  This happens with all our projectors and does not happen with older models of MacBooks.
If we go straight VGA to the projector, we can go up to 1280x800.
Does anyone else have this issue?

You aren't likely to find many other users of the Crestron system in these forums, and the fact that your setup works exactly as expected when you connect directly to the projector indicates clearly that the Crestron system is the locus of the problem. So I recommend working with the manufacturer and/or supplier of the Crestron equipment to resolve it.

  • MacBook Pro Retina late 2013 out-of-the-box Full Charge Capacity (mAh)

Hello! Can someone tell me what is the default value of Full Charge Capacity (mAh) parameter for MBPr 13 late 2013?
I suspect I have a battery capacity severely degraded, though I have only 42 charge cycles.

Make sure Power Nap on battery is unchecked.
    Go to System Preferences.
    Select the Energy Saver button.
Make sure the Enable Power Nap on Battery Power is unckecked. This will be located under the Battery tab in Energy Saver preferences.
    Also, try resetting your SMC.
Resetting the SMC of an Intel-based portable Mac with a battery you should not remove on your own
Note: This will not delete any data.
The SMC is responsible for controlling various system functions. None of your data will be deleted by resetting the SMC.
Shut down the computer by going to Apple () > Shut Down…
Select Shut Down or allow the computer to shut down automatically.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter into a power source and then connect it to your Mac if you have not already done so.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift (⇧), Control (⌃), and Option (⌥) keys and the Power Button at the same time.
Release the (left side) Shift (⇧), Control (⌃), and Option (⌥) keys and the Power Button at the same time.
I hope I solved your problem.

  • 6837 Full Charge Capacity macbook pro 13inch retina display good?  Only after having it a few days...?

I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff.  But I got my MBP a few days ago and didn't do any research on maximizing battery capacity.  Now it's already at 11 cycles.  I can't seem to find the normal full charge capacity for my MBP, but is 6837 within Apple's specs?  And furthermore, do can people tell the % of the full charge capacity just by looking at the icon on the top right?  Because I see some people saying their battery charges up to 102% or 98%...and I can only find "Full Charge Capacity," under the power section.    And one more question, since I'm supposed to leave my MBP plugged into an AC power source whenever available, does that include night time, when I'm asleep and my MBP is off?  These might be dumb questions... but I'm asking them anyways.  Want to keep this baby with me as long as I can :3

Yes.  I keep mine plugged in whever a power outlet is available, at night when im asleep even if it is off.  But I do let it run very low on battery power a few times a month to keep the battery juices flowing.

  • 13" MB Pro Retina Late 2013  Default Full Charge Capacity (mAh)

    Hello!
Can someone please tell me what is the default Full Charge Capacity (mAh) of MBPr 13" battery when it's new?
Recently I noticed that on my device it shows only 6069 mAh, though my device is barely a year old and has only 41 charge cycles (of 1000).
Why would battery degrade so quick?!

First, the amount of remaining charge is a dynamic figure that changes with the changes demands on the battery. Closing the lid means less demand, so the battery will last longer. Lid open means higher demand and less life of the battery.
The number cited in reviews is a nominal figure and can vary from battery to battery. You should fully charge your battery to make an comparisons. A battery's full charge capacity declines as the battery gets older and is used more. It will never be the same after the day it's take out of the box.

  • Macbook Pro MD101 battery capacity

    Hi,
I've bought a new Macbook Pro MD101 for a month ago. Everything go fine until I checked the System Report and saw that the Battery Capacity is 5166mAh, different from the others MD101 are about 5700 or higher. What's the problem?
    Thanks

The capacity always declines with use, and fluctuates on a daily basis.  If you check it in a couple days it may be more than your current value.  They float up and down a good amount.
More important is the Condition...that should always be Normal or have it checked.

  • MacBook Pro Mid 2010 Battery Capacity

I've read a few threads about this, mostly about battery capacity rapidly dropping after an install of ML. I installed ML when it first came out, and just noticed the drastic decrease in battery life about 3 weeks ago. My capacity could have potentially been dropping since I installed ML (and I just now noticed it), or it may have just started a couple weeks ago when I noticed. I'm not sure.
Either way, my MacBook Pro (Mid 2010) now has a battery life of less than an hour, even with extremely light processor load. I contacted Apple about this, and the tech said that the battery was rated for 1000 cycles. I'm currently at 220, and my battery capacity is a pathetic 30%. He said that since I wasn't under warranty, there was nothing they could do besides replace the battery - which I really want to avoid since I'm a broke college student.
Is there anything I can do here? I understand that I'm not under warranty anymore, and this wouldn't be a problem if my battery was degrading normally. However, getting 1/5th of the recommended battery life is pretty sad. I've read that doing a clean install of Mountain Lion/Lion might help. Is there a way I can do this without having to back up all my files? I don't have an external hard drive or anything.
It seems this is a common topic in these forums. Any help or links to solutions would be great. If this is answered in a similar topic, I'll gladly delete.

  • Why is the full charge capacity of my MBPR 13 Mid-2014 only 6175?

    It's only a week old.

    AZBRONCOZFAN,
I have the same model MacBook Pro as you. When our batteries were new, they had a full charge capacity of 5770 mA·h; but the batteries’ full charge capacities decrease over time. Since your battery currently has a full charge capacity of 4577 mA·h, it’s at 79.3% of its original capacity. Because it’s below 80% of its original capacity, Apple would consider it “consumed”, and would recommend that it be replaced. However, if you still find it perfectly usable in spite of its reduced runtime, then it’d be fine to keep using it.
