MacBook Pro. Mouse marker moves continuously towards right over text docs, email, input field, Top mac menu
on menu it repeats round and round. Reseted NVRAM, PRAM, SMC. No result. MacBook pro is 4 months old, apple refuses to deal with it and blames software.
Editing becomes realy hard when marker runs to the right all the time.
I think there could be a hardware issue, but I suspect otherwise for a few reasons~
#1 the diagnostic finds no problems whatsoever. I ran it several times. Maybe the diagnostic software is faulty and so both software and hardware are failing.
#2 I am using the machine right now. The hardware is sufficient to display, to type, to watch videos etc. I can't understand why the hardware is the reason that nothing will update and I am having constant core update issues with OSX processes. Hardware stops me form updating, stops me from using bootcamp, stops me from installing maverick. BUT it allows me to use Safari (old version, I think I can manually update it, since mac software update is broken and wont work) watch videos etc...
Sounds to me more like there is something really wrong with OSX. I never had hardware issues on a windows machine but I know friends who have had them. Never did they cause a problem trying to update or install windows. If you had a hardware issue on a windows machine the machine would crash and/or windows would tell you that the hardware was faulty. OSX is acting like IT is broken and is incapable of telling me the hardware is the issue.
I guess I could go to an applestore and pay them to fix the hardware problem or whatever. Maybe this is hardcoded into mac OSX> It seems like lots of macs have hardware issues after 3 or 4 years. So this is how they ensure they get paid? Program their operating systme to stop working/break the hardware after 4 years or so? hold your machine hostage till you pay them to 'fix it'?

iTunes > preferences > advanced.
point iTunes media folder location to the external
on the same tab, ensure the copy files ... when adding option is checkmarked
okay out of preferences
highlight the content to be moved (i.e. the movies) in iTunes and right-click
select consolidate files from the pop-up menu
wait for the process to finish
when done, you may delete the original files from your boot drive. you may also want to point iTunes media folder location back to your local iTunes folder.

no. airport express does not support the airdisk feature. you'd need an airport extreme (or time capsule) for that. -

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data

I'm new to Macbook Pro, and never imagined I would have problems saving bookmarks when I switched to Mac. Any suggestions with this issue? I have Safari 6.0.4, and has Apple come up with a permanent fix?

Well first, I must say "Yikes!!!" I didn't know anyone still used Word Perfect. That's an old school word processor right there... haha.
Okay, in all seriousnous, when saving your files in Word Perfect, use the Save As feature, and select a different format. Word Perfect's format is likely not going to be opened by any of the popular word processing software. I would try saving the document as RTF (rich text format), which is a universal standard across word processors. This way, you can open the document on your Mac, or any other machine.
Now, I'm also assuming that you have a word processor installed on your Mac. Right? Maybe Word? Maybe Pages? If you don't have a word processor, you'll need to get one. If you don't want to spend the $10 on Pages, consider downloading Open Office (http://www.openoffice.org/download/). This will give you a free word processor that you can use on your Mac. -

I tried to update the software of my iphone 3gs while charging with my Macbook Pro. While the phone was restarting after installation, in the setting up my phone menu, it stops midway with a message in itunes on the laptop that there is no simcard.
Then put a SIM in. You cannot activate an iPhone without a compatible Sim.
If your iPhone was hacked/jailbroken the update restore the lock. -

I have an older Airport Extreme (disc shaped) that we use with my wife's PowerBook (OS 10.5.8) and my MacBook Pro (OS 10.9.4). We currently only have Airport Utility on her Mac, but I want to upgrade the utility so I can use it on mine. Which version of the utility will work on my MacBook, and still control the older Airport Extreme?
if I update the Airport to the latest version, and "control" it with my MacBook Pro, will the older G4 still be able to use the signal from the new Airport?
Yes. Your G4 shouldn't have any difficulty connecting to a Wi-Fi network provided by the latest 802.11ac AirPorts as they support the earlier radio modes that the G4 uses. -
I am using an early 2008 MacBook Pro and am having issues with it deleting text on its own (in word, emails, etc.). As I am typing it all of a sudden starts deleting and I can't stop it. This happened once before and it was due to a buldging battery pressing on the track pad. I checked the battery and it appears to be fine. What can I do?

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2. -
I am using my old iPhone for playlist for my Dad's funeral as that meets the crematorium requirements. Some tracks - uploaded from personal CDs to MacBook Pro and successfully transferred to new iPhone (with small doc) won't transfer on syncing. Most do, but why won't some, of my own music sync when others off the same album and in the same playlist do? I have now checked the storage, freed up 766MB, how can i not sync (and get everything i've just deleted back) but upload the required tunes? All help appreciated, many thanks x x x

Hi! is it possible that Logic X has upgrades that work only with mavericks and does t work in mountain lion....since in my macbook pro with mavericks i have new views of the equalizer, etc and in my mac pro with mountain lion it still the old view...
Any OS version of 10.8.4 or later has all features that are not OS depended. The plugins are one example. You probably haven't updated all versions of Logic Pro X to the latest one.

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.
