Macbook pro msn webcam

Hi, just brought a new macbook pro 13inch.
started using msn on it and i was on webcam, it kept freezing and the the screen was going green not the whole screen, but the webcam display.
how can i fix this?

I have a new Macbook and want to video chat with MSN Messenger users.
Can I do that via aMSN?
I've also got XP running on my Macbook and have installed MSN Messenger running but I cant seem to get XP to recognize the built in camera. Is there a way to do this?

Your posted info shows you are using Mac OS X (10.5.8). With this Mac OS, you can use iMovie, Photo Booth, or optional QuickTime 7 Pro to record and save a QuickTime video. (Be sure to save in a YouTube Supported file format.)
Then follow the YouTube Help instructions for How to upload your saved videos.

Macbook Pro recognises webcam but gives no video

I recently started to use a usb camera (Microsoft LifeCam Cinema) to have meetings with teams abroad.
It was possible on two occassions to get video from the webcam. However, this morning plugging the webcam in caused the Macbook Pro to reboot. This happened on two successive attempts.
Currently, the Mac recognises the device (as per attachment), but no video is shown.
Any suggestions?

HT1338 macbook pro retina webcam poor quality

I am very happy with my MacBook Pro Retina Display.
However, the webcan produces very poor image quality, feels like out of focus. (using facetime, imessage, skype, all software the same)
I went back to my Macbook pro 2011 version, the same 720p webcam, produces very clear picture.
I read quite a few people having this issues but looks no firm answer. I hope its a software issue.
I wonder if Apple is looking into this problem.

Yes, I have recently noticed the exact same issue. RMBP has very poor webcam quality and is certainly not 720p (HD) display.
I have compared it to my desktop webcam, a logitech (HD720p camera) and images were by far much more superior for my logitech webcam.
I hope they do a software fix on the cameras.

I never used programs that use webcam like facetime or skype!

Using Built in MacBook Pro Camera as a Security Camera

This might not be the right place to ask this, but here goes:
Is there a program or widget out there that can turn my Macbook Pro's webcam into a security camera. The scenario would be something like me leaving my laptop out on my desk and either taking a video at fairly low resolution (so as to not take up a lot of space) or take a small picture every 3-5 seconds that would later be compiled into a slide show. All of this being done silently so that whoever is either breaking into my room or stealing things does not know that this is going on. Also, sound does not have to be recorded.

The cheap & easy way is to just drag the app to the Trash.
If you want to get all of the associated files use an app deleting app like the free AppCleaner;

Just drag an app and drop it on the AppCleaner icon in the Dock and it will find and present to you all the files it thinks are associated with the app. You can uncheck any that you want to keep and then let AppCleaner Trash the rest.

How do I get MSN messenger to work on my MacBook Pro.

I want to use MSN Messenger on my MacBook Pro. All my friends use PCs and can chat easily, transfer files and can use the camera too. I can't do any of that. Hope someone can help.

I have it on my mac from the latest Office for mac. It even updated after it was installed. My issue is that when I try to log in to my accont, it tries and then logs straight back out.

Hi everyone, my macbook pro doesn't recognize the webcam even in the system. Also I do have the windows7 also on the laptop. I wonder if it is the cause on the problem. Should I delete the windows7. Hi in some BIOS version there is an additional option to enable the webcam.
Please check the BIOS.
If the BIOS would not provide such option well, in such case I would assume that your webcam module is faulty.
If the webcam module would be OK, then you should see something in the device manager even if the driver/software would not be installed.

Problem with Macbook Pro early 2011, webcam not working in any apps and windows 7 or 8 on bootcamp, keyboard backlight not working?

I recently bought a second hand early 2011 Macbook Pro 15 inch and are having 2 problems. The first is that none of the apps detects my webcam at all, the second is, i have Windows 8 installed on bootcamp but are unable to get the keyboard backlight to work in 7 or 8. The backlight works perfect in os x 10.8.5 though. I need a little bit of help guys.....

Go to Apple Menu / About This Mac. Click on More Info ... next on System Report. In the left hand column, under Hardware, select USB. The right side will show the USB Device Tree. Look through that and check for "Built-in iSight". That is your camera. If it is not listed the camera is not working.
For backlighting, try this: go to System Preferences / Keyboard. Uncheck "Adjust keyboard lighting in low light".

Webcam not working on my Macbook Pro

In my case, I have a Macbook Pro late 2012, I find a number of issues like this. Regarding audio, this already happened a lot on Mountain Lion, but still exists on Maverick. The video issues seem to occur after the Maverick upgrade:
1. After recovering from sleep Skype audio will not work until after you restart Skype.
2. Webcam: no webcam is detected in Flash, Skype or Google Hangout. This requires a restart to fix.
I have tried following the support article but this does not help.
Any other suggestions. Reinstalling the OS is not a workable suggestion imho.

With all you have tried, if all your software is up to date and Reinstall OS X Mavericks is still not workable, Contact Apple's MacBook Pro Support.

Webcam and keyboard light not working on my macbook pro

I just reinstalled snow leopard on my macbook pro and I can seem to get my webcam to work, the light on the keyboards are not coming on either, has anyone encountered something like this before

Don't know about the webcam, but a SMC reset may help the keyboard backlight:

If you installed Snow Leopard and then updated it, then it might not hurt to open Disk Utility and repair permissions if you haven't already done so. Be sure all your software is up to date.

Macbook Pro Closed Clamshell FaceTime with external webcam?

Is this possible. I have an external monitor,keyboard, mouse etc and the twelvesouth bookarc set up so my macbook pro can be my desktop as well in closed clamshell mode. I miss out on being able to use facetime/skype etc because the monitor I use is a 30" LED that does not have a built in webcam. If i buy a high def webcam and attach it via USB, would facetime use it? Could this solve my problem?

I have pretty much the same setup, 15inch Macbook Pro 2.66Ghz i7 8gb-ram and 500gb HD - I'm running Lion 10.7.2 and I've got the Mac Bluetooth Keyboard and Magic Mouse with 20inch Mac Cinema Display (no built in isight) which I 've been using with the Macbook closed. I've tried an old Logitech Webcam I had laying around but that wouldn't work. I also have an iPad2 and iPhone 4S and I've used that WebCam App that allows me to use my idevices as wireless webcams which I was able to use with SKYPE (iPhone 4S).
So using the app "iWebcamera by dw-c" I was able to set my iPhone 4s and iPad2 as an external wireless webcam and successfully use SKYPE. I WAS NOT able to use the same method with Facetime or Photobooth, so I'd also be interested in knowing if I purchase a better/newer wired webcam if that would allow me to use FaceTime with my MacBook Pro Closed as well.
Hope this at least gets you half way there mcbzero - it's all I have at the moment.

MacBook Pro's built-in webcam compatibility with other websites?

Okay, excuse this seemingly vain and unimportant question, but I just got my MacBook Pro today and am so lost. Anyway, I was looking to take pictures with the built in webcam, just not necessarily in Photo Booth. I frequently use facebook and dailybooth.com
I tried using dailybooth and the area where you can usually see yourself was completely black and offered no options for like selecting a webcam. Taking a display picture on facebook said I needed to download flash player. Which I did. But now it continuously still tells me to download flash player.
I guess I'm just wondering if anyone who uses a MacBook pro uses their webcam to take pictures of themselves (vain sounding I know!) on other websites and if you can tell me how.

You can use Photobooth as a go between. Most such websites, including Facebook will load pictures off your computer. Photobooth allows you to drag pictures from its capture bottom bar onto the desktop for reuse elsewhere on your computer.
