Macbook Pro need to port audio out from Firewire or Thunderbolt
I need an additional audio out port (in addition to the headphone jack).
This needs to be analog (going to my sound system / RCA) and it appears I need adaptors that will use the Thunderbolt connector, but something that uses Firewire would be ok too.
My Macbook Pro is 2011 era running 10.6.8
Something like this Digital Audio To Analog Audio Converter ... from Amazon will do the trick.
Search for audio digital to analog converter for other options.

Hi. I have a Macbook Pro Model 5,5 with one 800 firewire port. I need to create two firewire 800 ports but only have an SD card slot (this is for video interface with 2 cameras). Is this possible or do I have to have an express card slot in order to do this?

No, the SD slot will not work, you need an ExpressCard/34 slot.
I do not know if it works with cameras, but with two or more HDs, if the first one has two FW ports, you can "daisy chain" one or more additional HDs from it. -
Just got brand new macbook pro (13inch) and restored all data from old mac via time machine. Now when I p/back a track in logic I get audio drop out for 3-4 secs every 10 - 15 secs!! What is going on and what can I do? Its the same version of logic and all other functions seem fine!
First of all, why did you say yes to Nero Back up before researching what it does with files already on the HDD? When I install Nero, the Back Up is the first thing I disable, it is a nagging pain, there are much better backup programs available. There are several file recovery programs out there to recover deleted files, that is, if that is what happened. Also, if you haven't overwritten the files, so you should be able to find them.

Caseycork92 you double click the DMG to mount the disk image. You will also need to enter your serial number for Creative Suite 6 for Macintosh. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

MBP audio out from headphone jack is extremely low in volume
i just sent my macbook pro 13in (mid 2009 model) to the apple store (out of warranty). my problem was that the audio out from the headphone jack was very very low and staticky. the problem arose about 2-3wks ago. i've owned the laptop since june 2009. i've never dropped or damaged it (no water damage, etc)
my local apple store told me they had to replace logic board which seems extreme for what my problem is. i've read numerous forum posts saying that their computers came back with flickering "kernel panic"
has anyone else had a similar audio problem with their computer, and if so was it resolved in this manner?
thanks!I think you may be mistaken. the static coming from macbooks audio output port is as old a story as the macbook itself. IMO, epic fail on apple's part. I am debating complaining in a few months when I decide I deserve a better sound quality from a ridiculously overpriced laptop.

Using MacBook Pro as Digital Optical Audio bridge...
I have an idea for my MacBook Pro, but I'd like to know if it's feasible before I go and buy what I'd need to test my plan:
I have an Xbox 360 with digital optical audio out (TOSlink), and I have a MacBook Pro with digital optical audio in (through the 3.5mm minijack on the side. So far I'm A-OK.
Now, I'd like to know if I can have the Xbox's output go into the MacBook Pro's input, and route that audio signal through the MacBook Pro to either (a) the stereo output of the MacBook Pro, or (b) (preferred) my 5.1 decoder on my Griffin FireWave.
Every time I use the Xbox, I have to unplug the audio from my speakers to the Griffin FireWave, and that's a pain because the wires are all behind my desk. If I could route the audio through my MacBook Pro, then everything would be perfect. Is this possible?
And if this isn't possible, can I use an old iMic adapter I have laying around to route the audio through the MBP?
Thanks for your help!I found a program called LineIn that allows 'software audio pass through in to out,' but I don't think this will pass the 5.1 channel audio through to my FireWire-connected Griffin Firewave.
Does anyone know of any way this can be done? Do you think the Audio/MIDI Setup Utility application can be of any use with this? Or is there a way to pass the digital signal straight through to the Griffin? -

See this tip if you must go newer. Mac Pros with newer hardware configuration than July 20, 2011 can't use Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier without this tip and then it would be Mac OS X Server. I'm not sure if the new black Mac Pro supports that configuration or not.

iTunes, there is an iTunes for all versions of Mac OS X. Note with iTunes versions 11 and later, which are needed for syncing with iOS 7 or or later, you will lose coverflow, if you liked that feature. Sadly you can't run an older version of iTunes from within Mac OS X 10.9 or later.

Just bought a new MacBook Pro. Attempting to migrate data from a power mac G4 running Mac OS X 10.6.8 using a firewire.
Mac Book will recognize the Mac Pro but the Mac Pro just continues to search for the Mac Book. What should I do?

Internal drive for Macbook Pro 13 inch with Retina display from late 2013?
Hi everyone. After some water spillage to my new computer, the guys at the Apple Store have told me that my internal hard drive needs to be replaced. No other damage was done, thankfully. I have a Macbook Pro 13 inch with Retina Display from late 2013. The Apple genius said my current hard drive has flash storage, and that my new hard drive will need that as well as the computer requires it. Does anyone know where I can buy such a hard drive? Is it possible to buy it from Apple? I am happy to buy online or in a store (I live in Australia). Also, is this Mac Pro model difficult to take apart? I'd like to install the hard drive myself.

i just bought a new Macbook Pro and loaded all my info from My old Macbook...now i can't remember for the life of me my Admin Password (which i created 3 years ago)...is there ANY WAY to bypass this on my new Macbook Pro and begin again...?
I assume that you don't have the installation discs, so:
1. Reboot
2. Hold command + s key down after you hear the chime.
3. When you get a text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
(Type these commands very carefully)
mount -uw /
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
shutdown -h now
4. You will go through the setup process again, create a new admin account, login to it and then change your existing account password or whatever else you need to do. You can delete the account you made in this process, or not.
