MacBook Pro - No camera attached.

I have a brand new MacBook Pro.
I have reimaged it with the CD's provided by Apple. The camera takes my picture for the login icon. So I know the camera is recognized and works from the OS (as of this point).
I run the System Updater. I downloaded the firmware update needed for BootCamp and installed that.
I log in and am running NO OTHER APPLICATIONs.
I launch Photo Booth and it says "Photo Booth cannot open because no camera is attached or the camera is in user by another application". I quit Photo Booth.
I launch ichat. I go to Preferences > Video. "There is no camera attached to this computer".
This is a MacBook Pro. The camera is built in.
How do I fix this?

I tried resetting the PMU, shutdown, removed power supply, removed battery, held down the ON button for longer than 5 seconds, and then booted back up. Nothing. Didn't even reset my clock which makes me wonder.
I booked the hardware check (install disk 1 + holding down the D key) Did a full hardware check. No problems.
But still the camera no longer works in macosx.
Recall it worked fine before I did the firmware upgrade and installed boot camp.

  • Installing Tiger on a Macbook Pro that came only with Leopard

    Hi guys,
Any ideas on how to install Tiger onto a Macbook Pro that came preloaded with Leopard, and only has a Leopard disc?
I've got a refurbished Macbook Pro recently. Realised that one of my application doesn't work, Capture One Pro. Visited Phase One's website and they said it only supports 3.9 and above at the time it was released, which makes it 10.4.10.
Systems in the story below: Macbook Pro Core Cuo. Macbook Pro C2D (new set), Mac Pro, iMac Core 2 Duo
    Here's what I've tried
    1. I've an original disk that came with my MBP CD. When I try to boot from that disk on my MBP C2D, it gives me the crash screen -> "please hold the power for secs to restart".
    2. I've tried installing Tiger onto my iMac and did a harddisk clone via Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) to my MBP CD. Tiger was able to run on my MBP CD fine.
    3. Then I tried using CCC to clone it over to my MBP C2D. It doesn't work. Shows me the crash screen.
    4. I've tried installing Tiger on my Mac Pro. Used CCC to clone over the disk image to MBP C2D. Doesn't work too. Crash screen.
    5. Created disk images of Tiger with Disk Utility on iMac, Mac Pro. Tried to restore using the iMac, Mac Pro disk images of Tiger. Doesn't work. Shows me the crash screen.
    6. Updated Tiger to 10.4.11 on my Mac Pro. Created disk image using Disk Utility. Restored MBP C2D with it. Crash screen on load.
I'm out of ideas and Apple Support won't open until Monday.
It seems that this MBP C2D is set on not installing Tiger, no matter what. Wonder if getting hold of a Tiger retail disc will do the trick?

You can install tiger onto a MacBook Pro up to version 3,1.
Run System Profiler and under hardware:
    Hardware Overview:
    Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro4,1 This line is the model number!
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 3 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: MBP41.00C1.B00
    SMC Version: 1.27f1
    Serial Number: XXXXXXXXXXX
    Sudden Motion Sensor:
    State: Enabled
I have got tiger installed onto this MacBookPro which is the latest 4,1 model, but you require the latest Tiger disk (which the Apple Genius had in my case), but the volume, brightness and trackpad gestures do not work! Everything else is fine.

To use factime on your Mac, I believe you will need to use your email address to do so instead of your wireless number.  Since you can't make calls on the Mac.

  • I bought a used macbook pro that came with xcode

I bought a used macbook pro that came with xcode, this means I can develop Apps but to publish in App Store needed pay developer fees? Or must pay these fees from now?

All you have are the basic tools. Without a paid program in your name, you cannot distribute apps to the store.

  • My MacBook Pro says camera not detected when I adjust my screen!

i have had my macbook pro for about a year now and sometimes when i am using facetime and adjust my screen my picture will freeze and when i restart the program it will say camera not detected. why does this keep happening and should i take it to a store to get checked out, is this fixable? help!

Sounds like a cable has slipped out of a connector, seeing as they go from "under the keyboard" and up by the display. You should get it checked out. I had a similar problem, but then it was my display that went to sleep when in 45°. I fixed it by just closing and opening the screen all the way a few times. Tried that?

  • Replacement MacBook Pro's camera not working!

Hey there. Faulty MacBook Pro (speakers buzzing, lid not closing properly left side and running a "bit hot" was replaced within the first week- arrived a week after requesting it (original took 48 hours to arrive) and when I transferred the data from the old one via Firewire and started Photo Booth the camera light appeared and for a brief moment I even had a blurred picture which quickly faded.
Now all I get is blackness.
Checked to see what might be different between the two machines and the only thing I can think is that it was still running 10.4.6 as opposed to the one it is meant to replace- which is up to 10.4.7.
HOWEVER- when THAT one came out of the box and I started Photo Booth it presumably ran WELL on the same version! In fact I was so impressed that I uploaded my first photo blog within a few hours!
So- what can be the problem? Could it be that the transferred data was "optimised" for 10.4.7 by the time it was transferred?
Or am I looking at ANOTHER faulty machine? I am getting a bit tired of the rather shoddy treatment I have been receiving from Apple's Asian call centre personnel, and the possibility that I am looking at ANOTHER replacement fills me with TOTAL horror.
Hoping that someone wise here has a simple enough suggestion about what it might be..?

OK- ran hardware test as per manual. Nothing untoward found. So it MUST be a software issue, right?
This is the same MacBook Pro as the other one. Only THIS one was asked to use Firewire to transfer data from the one it replaces instead of me first registering it.
    Anyone have this?
Camera kind of works (flashes into dark sepia but quickly fades to either complete black or some white spots from lights) and green light IS on when it should be.

  • How do I remove old applications from my new Macbook Pro that came over when the data on my iMac was migrated to the new computer.

How do I remove old applications from my new Macbook Pro that were part of the data that was migrated over from my older iMac?
    Thanks

If the applications were originally drag and drop installations you can simply drag them to the trash and empty. If they were installed by an installer there should be an uninstaller included. If you're not sure you should check with the software developer for instructions. In this case Google can be your friend.

  • Macbook pro Web cam issue!! (photobooth)

I have a macbook pro and everytime I open photo booth the picture comes up black. However, the green light next to the webcam is on. I first restarted my computer and then ensured my software was up to date, which it is. I went to open other applications like FaceTime & Imovie and the screen also showed up black to those. What is the issue and how can I fix it? PLEASE HELP!

    Hello forevrpnk19
You have done most of the troubleshooting within the article and the next step would be to reset the SMC on your MacBook Pro.

  • Can i use a 85 watt charger for my macbook pro that came with an 60 watt charger?

My charger broke a few weeks ago and i ordered another one on amazon and that broke within a week so i'm going to just buy another one from the apple store. But i dont want to wait to order one because i currently cant use my laptop since it died (i dont live near an apple store), but theres a store that sells apple products. they only have 85 watt for the laptops though. so would i be able to use that without ANY issues? I would rather order from the apple store than to buy something that can cause problems, so i just want to know if my macbook will be safe if i use an 85 watt instead of the 60 watt, which is what originally came with my laptop. Thank you.

An 85 watt charger will be fine. Generally, you can use a higher-powered charger than the one that came with your MBP - but using a lower-powered charger is not recommended.

  • Canon EOS Utility 2.11.3 won't launch on OS 10.8.3 on MacBook Pro with camera on

Just purchased a Mac Book Pro 15" (not Retina) and a Canon Rebel Rebel 4Ti. The Canon EOS Utility will open when the camera is not truned on, but crahsed immediately when I turn on the camera.

When you contacted Canon what did they have to say? Have you the latest software for your device? Have you checked the Canon web site for any updates?
