Macbook Pro no longer connects to Samsung TV thru HDMI

So my 13" MacBook Pro and Samsung HDTV i got back in feburaury were working perfectly together thru HDMI cable to a Dynex Mini DisplayPort, then all of a sudden they stopped. Now whenever I plug the two in together the MacBook turns blue ( as it did before) for only a short period of time and disappears, while the Samsung does nothing and continues to display "No Signal." I've been looking for answers everywhere from the web to my TV manual and even updated my computer, any ideas???? HELP!

Hi Sean,
The setting may have gone back to default after updating. Go to System Preferences > Sound > Output > select HDMI.

    Hello ,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot having no display on the external display.
No video or no signal, image distortion, "snow," or flickering
    Check connections
When using an external display be sure to check the following:
If you're using an Apple notebook, confirm the AC power cable or adapter is securely connected to the computer and the cable providing power to the display is also secure. It is always good to have your notebook connected to AC power when an external display is in use.
Confirm display adapters are fully seated in their respective connections and that they are supported models and for the computer and display. Refer to these articles to assist you with adapter compatibility and further configuration information:
    Monitor and Display Adapter Table

Thunderbolt ports and displays: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Remove all display cable extenders, KVM switches, or other like devices and retest to determine if the issue is resolved.
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.

My macbook pro no longer connects to my TV with the mini dvi to hdmi adapter. A while ago the computer fell down and hit the cable. How can I tell if the computer is working ok. Doesn't show mirroring any more. Was working while watching a movie but when I pulled it out from the computer and put it back in the system would no longer mirrorr the screen on the TV.

  • My macbook pro no longer connects automatically to my wi-fi network

Delete all the preferred WiFi networks, and try making the current one the preferred network in your Airport Utility setup.

  • My macbook pro no longer connects to my TV with the mini dvi to hdmi adapter. It was working fine now I cant get it to output to the Tv. Any ideas?

My Macbook pro no longer outputs to my vizio led tv. It was working fine now I cant get any picture. It just says no signal. It is not the hdmi or the adapter because it works fine with my other tv. Any ideas on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Please be as specific as possible. Thanks. BTW--I am using the mini dvi to hdmi adapter in case that was unclear.

Since you say that the same connectors work on your other TV is suggests that the fault is not in the connectors but your Vizio TV.  I would check the settings on the Vizio TV.  Verify that is is set to receive HDMI input.  Perhaps you or some one else has inadvertently changed them.  Pressing the wrong buttons on a remote control device can do that.  (I am assuming no changes were made in SYSTEM PREFERENCES>DISPLAYS)

  • Why will my macbook pro no longer connect to my tv?

    Hi all,
Until a recently I had no difficulty connecting my mid 2010 macbook pro to my LG tv using a mini display port to HDMI cable. The software on the Mac is OS X Lion 10.7.3 Now when i plug it does not work. The tv recognisies the computer is plugged in but it enlarges the screen so can only see a small part and the display on the computer does the same so I can get into the display menu to do anything there. When I unplug it it goes back to normal but i cant do anything with the display preferneces as its not plugged in. I have tried a new cable but this didnt work. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Sorry, that should read that i can't get into the display preferences.

  • IMac and Macbook Pro no longer connecting to the Wifi?

    Hi there,
I've been in London this weekend, only to return home to find issues connecting to my wifi. Weirdly, it's only the iMac and Macbook Pro having trouble, everything else is connecting fine e.g iPad, Phone, Android Tablet etc.
I'm getting disconnected around every 20 seconds and cannot figure it out! It's so frustrating as I'm wondering if there's been an update released for OS X that it has downloaded recently? Especially seeing that when I run windows from bootcamp on my iMac, it doesn't disconnect. And I also don't believe it's an issue with the hub.
Has anyone got any suggestions? I've tried removing the network and re-adding, help for about an hour but still not much use.
    Thanks, Matt

  • Problems with Macbook Pro 2,2 DVI to Samsung Plasma 40'' HDMI

Hi all, sorry if this sounds familiar, just want to check I've done everything.
Essentially, I'm attempting to connect the DVI (NOT Mini-DVI) output on my MacBook Pro 2,2 to the HDMI port (labelled HDMI2/DVI) input on my Samsung TV using this cable: http://tinyurl.com/37cfcum
Instead of becoming a second/mirrored display, the MacBook briefly looks as though it is attempting to connect (flash from blue), then nothing. TV displays "No Signal", and on the MacBook, System Preferences > Display gives the settings as if no external monitor were connected, and System Profiler > Hardware > Graphics/Displays > Display Connector indicates "No Display Connected".
Macbook connects fine using a DVI to VGA cable to an external 15'' Samsung LCD monitor, using either mirror or dual display.
I've tried the TV's other HDMI port, only to the exact same result.
I've also attempted using a DVI to HDMI adapter instead, similar to this: http://tinyurl.com/353ua4e and using a standard HDMI to HDMI cable from there to the TV, only to get the exact same result. The HDMI cable works brilliantly with the Xbox 360, which is direct HDMI-HDMI.
I've updated the TV to its latest firmware, and have sent off for Snow Leopard in the hope that something might change to help, but I'm not expecting miracles.
I'd really appreciate if anyone could make a suggestion for something I might be missing? I'm really new to the world of Macs, and although I'm enjoying it so far, from what I've heard so far, MacBooks hate HDMI and Samsung TVs
If it's any help, the TV is a Samsung Plasma 40'', model PS42B430, manuf. September 09.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Edit: I'm basically looking to watch high definition TV/Movies; would much prefer not to go down the S-video or Composite route if possible!

Thanks Louie - it seems painful not to use HDMI, I've never really understood Apple's logic behind the anti-copy stuff they've done in the past but I think you're right, it's probably that
Regarding SVGA, connection-wise do you mean DVI->VGA->TV? My TV doesn't have a VGA input port Could I go DVI->VGA->HDMI->TV or DVI->VGA->Component->TV? There's S-video or composite, but I'd prefer to avoid if poss... what do you think?

  • Macbook Pro no longer connects to my closed WPA2 secured airport express

i setup my airport express to not broadcast its SSID, and everything worked perfectly for a few weeks, but now twice in as many days i've woken my computer from sleep and it hasn't connected, even after trying to manually enter my SSID and password, it cannot connect. I tried logging into the airport express through airport admin utility and its IP address, but i got an error that said it coudln't read the configuration of the airport express...
    any ideas?

    Ted,
OK, you do mention that you have deleted all Keychain items. Let's make sure you are deleting the right stuff. Right now, open System Preferences>Network. Choose "Airport" in the "Show:" menu, and then verify that the "By default, join:" menu reads "Preferred networks." If not, make it so.
Now, you will see a list of your "preferred" networks in this pane. If you are having problems, it can be very helpful to give this list a visit. Consider at this point if it wold be helpful to just delete everything in this list a start it again. At the very least, I recommend you delete any items related to your home (airport express) network. Use the minus sign to remove items.
While you are here, change the "Show:" menu to "Network Port Configurations." Make sure that Airport is at the top of this list (you can just drag items up and down in this list).
Now connect to your network again. It should all work seamlessly now. I have noticed that from time to time my MBP will lose my network (also no broadcast) when it goes to sleep. When this occurs, I simply turn Airport off, then back on again. It picks up my network immediately.

I have have my macbook pro hooked up to my Samsung tv via HDMI.  I have great video but no audio from TV.  Only what is coming out of my computer,
Never mind, I lreferenced some other posts with the solution.  Thanks anyway!

Only MacBook Pro's from mid-2010 onwards support audio through the mini-DisplayPort.  You will need to hook up a cable from the headphone socket to the TV.

I was finally able to resolve this issue. I went to LaCie's site and went to the support area to find troubleshooting steps for my particular drive. It turns out that the problem was corrected when I swapped the power supply cord of the "troubled" drive with another LaCie drive that I have and that seemed to resolve the problem. Thank you Tony for your help. I appreciate you guys!
    Thanks,
