Macbook pro not connecting wirelessly to HP officejet 8650 but other mac devices connect fine

I have Verizon FIOS and I just upgraded my router to a new one that Verizon sent me in the mail. I changed the wifi password on all my devices after installing the router and they are all connected, however now my macbook pro won't connect to the wireless printer. My ipad will connect with the printer, so the printer is connected. My macbook pro is definitely online since I get internet, but it won't see the printer. I called Verizon and they basically said "it should work".
Any suggestions?

Hi,
I don't have my macbook in front of me but from mmory,  I think you open preferences and select printers/devices and then there should be an option to search for wireless printers.
In the past when I've had a similar problem, i found that connecting with a USB helped re-established the connection.

  • Macbook Pro not recognising wireless MM

    Morning all -
Whenever I turn my Macbook Pro on, it doesn't recognise my wireless MM. I have to use the trackpad, and then either flick the switch on the bottom of the MM, or re-pair it with the Mac for it to work
    Any ideas?

  • The quality of built-in camera on macbook pro with retina display is far worse than any other mac. Why?

I just got the new macbook pro with retina display like a week ago and I've been noticing that the quality of the built-in camera on it is so bad.
It's even worse than my 2009 iMac or my sister's 2012 13" macbook pro. I don't get why this is a facetime HD built-in camera when i can obviously see that is not even near HD. Or is it just my computer. Do i have to bring it to the apple store??

it's advertised 720p so yes it is the same as all the other MBP.  it may just be the resolution of your monitor is stretching the pixels.  Don't worry about bringing it to the apple store.

Connect the iPad to your MBP and open iTunes.  In the photos section of your iPad in iTunes you can choose selected albums, Events or the entire iPhoto library to sync to your iPad.

  • Macbook pro not automatically detecting usb wireless extender

From a long distance I'm trying to help a friend get a Wireless Repeater setup on his Macbook Pro.  This is a Plug 'N Play piece of equipment that connects through USB.  When he plugs it into his Macbook Pro nothing happens and it's not detected at all, however when it's plugged into a PC running Windows 7 the Repeater works without any problems and is immediately detected.
I've suggested he confirm the USB ports are working properly.  Based on other forums for similiar issues, with different equipment, I've suggested plugging the Repeater into the computer before turning it on.
Any other suggestions to get it working would be greatly appreciated!!

It depends on the device, but in general, Macs support Plug and Play peripherals. However, USB Wi-Fi extenders are problematic because OS X does not come with drivers for these devices.
If you know the brand of the extender and its model, put it here and I will look for its driver.

Well, you could install the drivers to the wireless printer in you other computers.

System Preferences > Network > WiFi
To give a network the highest priority, drag the name of the network to the top of the list. This is the network your computer will attempt to join first.

    Hi,
I purchased Huawei Dongle and trying to connect with my new MacBook Pro (OS- Mountain Lion) USB port 3.0 but unfortunately it does not support.
When I plugged in my macbook the power is flowing in dongle due green light blinking twice in every 3 sec but no connection found or diver shown.
Please let me know how I have to use it. I got some suggestion for USB hub 2.0 but It does not make any sense and driver installation.
So please suggest proper direction to use it and provide link to install any driver.
    Thanks

Yes Clinton I did same, but they were (Huawei customer support) surprised about this problem, They behave like they have no idea about USB 2.0 and  3.0 knowledge. They handsUp that reason I posted my problem in this forum.
So is there any better solution to use any mediator between these USB version handling, Please let me know.
    Thanks

    can anyone assist pls!

It sounds like the windows computer has captured the printer..
I suggest you turn the windows computer off.. reboot the rest of the network and see if the Mac can then print.. if not, remove the printer setup in the Mac and redo it.
Remember the TC has absolutely nothing to do with this.. TC is merely a wireless router.
This is windows and Mac interferring with each other.

  • HP Photosmart C5580 and MacBook Pro Snow Leopard wireless printer with router

I have a macbook pro OSX operating system and a C5580 HP Photosmart printer.  I have spent hours with netgear as I did purchase a new router getting my macbook pro to print wirelessly.  Whatever the fix it is temporary and my private tech has to take control of my computer to get to work again.
    1. am I printing with bluetooth? through router?
    2. what is happening whenever it gets out of sync and how can I fix myself?
    3. computer says "idle" but shows device connected.  I can print test page wirelessly, but not current document. Documents print when I connect with usb cable.
I felt I should contact HP since I think it is their problem though netgear has been very helpful.  I understand that I do need USB to scan, but shouldn't have to have it to print. We have downloaded all of the most current drivers and software.

Tell me about your network - router brand/model, encryption type (WEP, WPA, etc) and ISP type (DSL, Cable, etc).
If you loaded the HP software from the printer CD and unless your CD says it specifically supports 10.6 Snow Leopard, you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Restart your Mac
    Now, run a Software Update.
Next, remove and re-install the printer in System Preferences, Print & Fax.
You do not need the software now since Snow Leopard has both print & scan drivers built-in. Scan from Preview or Image Capture apps. Scanning from the front panel of the printer does not yet work.

    1. No, routers don't do bluetooth.  If they are wireless routers they use wi-fi (802.11).
    2. I don't know, you have not told me enough about your symptoms or system.
    3. Same as #2.

  • Seeing Vista PC folders from a MacBook Pro on a wireless network

I have a 2 PCs running Windows Vista and a MacBook Pro. I also have Time Capsule. The Time Capsule is connected to my main PC by Ethernet cable and to the MacBook and my other PC wirelessly.
I share my Internet Connection with my PCs and Mac which works fine. I use Time Machine to back up my Mac - which works fine. I use Windows OneCare to back up my main PC via Ethernet onto the Time Machine as a hard disk - which also works fine.
My PCs and my Mac are all set up to connect to my home wireless network. I can see both my Macintosh and my wireless PC from my main PC as networked locations and can navigate to sub-directories, folders and documents on my Mac from the main PC and to shared folders on my wireless PC. I can also see shared folders on my main PC from my wireless PC.
However, I cannot see how I can do the reverse operation and access shared files and folders on my PCs from my Mac. Neither the main PC nor my wireless PC appear as shared locations in Finder and I don't know how to use the Mac equivalent of Windows Explorer to navigate via the wireless network to my PCs. Can someone advise please?

I was able to do it using my router.
On my netgear router (it has a very simple webbrowser-based setup and maintenance system) had the options to assign and reserve a particular ip address for each device connected to it. (It did this not by the computer name but my the MAC address of the network interface. Eg. My powerbook's airport card ALWAYS has an i.p. address of 192.168.0.7, whereas if I connect my powerbook via ethernet, it uses 192.168.0.2)
These could have been any ip addresses that I wished for. These two just happened to be the next available ones.
You should look at your network's router or switch's setups/manuals etc to find out if you're able to do this with your particular hardware.
I use just a simple modem/router/wireless access point all rolled into one:
    http://netgear.com/products/details/DG834G.php
If you're working in an office environment, the hardware will probably be of fairly good standard, and therefore should allow you to do this.
Glad I was able to help a little with my last message, keep replying untill we get this problem sorted out.
    DAN
    P.s. I have just had another little look at my VNC (realvnc) server software. In the configuration of the server, in the;
"allow connections from local computer only and" section of the options I have got my two ip addresses (my ethernet and airport ones) stored to allow without needing confirmation.
This MIGHT be another way to solve your problem. But again, it all resorts back to you needing static ip addresses, not dynamic ones.
Let me know how you get on!

  • MacBook Pro forgets its wireless & network internet settings...

    Hi...
I'm having problems with my MacBook Pro 'remembering' its wireless and network internet settings. I'm connecting via Airportto my Belkin 54g wireless router which is what has been running happily for the last 18 months.
Here's what happens - AirPort says it's connected, the internet works fine but when the MacBook Pro 'sleeps' or is restarted it 'forgets' its network and internet settings and cannot log on to the internet.
I get the Network Diagnostics appearing and I go through the options and eventually Network Diagnostics will show everything is fine, except there is no internet connection. I click through next options available on screen and I manage to get the MackBook Pro to restore its internet connection. All is fine until the MacBook Pro goes to 'sleep' again or is switched off.
This hassle began out of the blue - I haven't changed any settings on the machine, I haven't installed any software or anti-virus programs - it just spung up!
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
I have not encountered this particular problem yet, but I have just bought a Belkin 54g adsl and wireless router. It has connected up to my home pc with no problems and it has also connected up to my macbook pro (leopard) okay, but the range on the internet connection is really poor. It works up to about 50 feet, but I can't use it upstairs, which granted is more than 50 feet away from the source, but at 80 quid I thought it would perform better.
I contacted Belkin support which is local rate and they suggested changing the wireless channel from 11 to 6, but when I did this it would even find the network using Airport.
I would like to be able to use the laptop over 50ft (i.e. in my bedroom) as well as all over the house, but so far I only get as far as the next room!
If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful? NB: I am not a very technical user.

  • Macbook pro not starting(Seems like kernel panic)

    Hi,
I am using a 2013 macbook pro 13(md 101) running os x mavericks. Last night i connected a wireless mouse(hp x3500) and it worked fine at that moment.
I did a normal shutdown. Next day when i tried starting the macbook, it didn't start at all, no screen, no message, in fact it seemed like the laptop is not powering up. Did a bit of googling and tried SMC bypass and it started the laptop and i managed to get this screen
Now i thought booting the mac in safe mode might work, so i did a force shutdown by long pressing the power button.
But now, when i am trying to boot the machine again with or without smc bypass, it's not working.
Not sure what's the real issue, any help is really appreciated.
