Macbook pro not connecting wirelessly to my FiOS

I just got a Macbook Pro last Wednesday immediately after having Verizon FiOS installed in my house on Tuesday. Unfortunately I can't get Airport to connect to the internet at my house. I would say it's just FiOS but my neighbor has the exact same service and I can connect fine over there. One thing I've probably done wrong is to have changed the Airport settings so now it says my network is using 802.1x. Is there anyway i can reset my airport settings to the factory original?

axeman310,
We will need more information than you have provided. "Airport" settings? On what? On an Airport wireless router, connected to your FiOS box? On your MBP? Or are you calling the Actiontec router that normally comes with FiOS "Airport?"
What says your network is using "802.1x?" Your MBP? A router? If a router, how is it telling you this? And, do you really mean to write "802.1x?" Or should that be "802.11x?"
We need much more information.

  • Macbook pro not connecting wirelessly to HP officejet 8650 but other mac devices connect fine

I have Verizon FIOS and I just upgraded my router to a new one that Verizon sent me in the mail. I changed the wifi password on all my devices after installing the router and they are all connected, however now my macbook pro won't connect to the wireless printer. My ipad will connect with the printer, so the printer is connected. My macbook pro is definitely online since I get internet, but it won't see the printer. I called Verizon and they basically said "it should work".
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I don't have my macbook in front of me but from mmory,  I think you open preferences and select printers/devices and then there should be an option to search for wireless printers.
In the past when I've had a similar problem, i found that connecting with a USB helped re-established the connection.

  • HT4199 MacBook pro not connecting

My MacBook pro stopped connecting to any server.  I am connected to my wi-fi, and my ISP, but can't connect beyond that.  My iPad, iPhone, and Xbox all connect without a problem.  My settings appear to be correct.  Any help appreciated.

  • Macbook pro not connecting to the wireless internet

    Hello All,
This is my very first mac (a macbook pro) and for some reason it sees my wireless router, and says connected, but when i open safari the pages doesn't load. I am a beginner with macs and I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
    -Jay

You probably connected but failed to get an IP address. If you have other network devices turn them off, restart the router and see if you can get access to the Internet then. Otherwise click on the network diagnostics button (or which ever appears in Safari's failure) and see if it'll give you clues.

  • Macbook Pro not connecting to Home Wi-Fi but connects to work Wi-Fi

    Hi there.
I am using Macbook Pro with Mac OS X 10.8.5. My Macbook is suddenly not getting wireless internet connection from my Wireless Router (It is connected to my Wi-Fi though). All other devices (iPhone, iPad, Windows PC) are connected to the same Router and have internet access without any problem. Same Macbook works fine with the Wi-Fi at work but having problem connecting to internet with Wi-Fi at home.
Well, I have been looking for the solution to this problem for a week now. Here is what I have already tried
    - Zapped PRAM (didn’t work)
    - Deleted System Configuration Folder in /Library/Preferences/ (didn’t work)
    - Removed Network connections and tried adding them again in Wi-Fi Advanced Settings (didn’t work).
    - Tried Apple’s Wireless Diagnostics (didn’t work)
    - Tried Wireless Assistant (didn’t work)
    - Tried creating new locations (didn’t work)
    - Tried deleting and adding Wi-Fi service (didn’t work)
    - Reset Router (didn’t work)
    - Changed security setting in Router from WPA2 to open (didn’t work)
    - Tried dscacheutil - flushcache
The only thing works is changing DNS server to 8.8.8.8 from default (192.168.1.1 which is greyed out). It works but speed is very slow which is already very annoying.
Need suggestions on what to do in this regard?

    Solved! (for me anyhow).
I removed all entries in my 'Manage Networks' tab, and reentered the home network info (SSID is not broadcast, WPA), then the phone immediately found the network.
Mobile data happened to be on at the time (no idea if that has anything to do with it).
    Chain of events
    - received phone while out of town.  everything worked as expected. no chance to try wifi on the road.
    - returned home after holidays and tried wifi at home, no luck (like above).  I did have some typos and all subsequent attempts to connect were via 'edits' to an existing network entry.  Note, my laptops and Nook Color had no trouble connecting.
    - went to work, wifi worked flawlessly in office as well as at local starbucks
    - returned home and tried again, numerous attempts. no luck
    - restarted router (TDS/actiontec GT724-WG) to no effect
    - tried to reset router (forgot my pw, fortunately, it didn't reset)
    - finally gave up, figured that I need to change some router setting- recall SSID is not broadcast, and using WPA
    - grabbed a beer (the secret solution?), and had a thought to simply remove my earlier entries in the network list and reenter the correct info cleanly.
    - phone immediately found network and connected- good to go!
Now, I really really like the phone (if I can just get Tango to work...)
    Hope this helps someone.

  • MacBook Pro not connecting to school internet! Big Issue! Please Help!

My school uses a service called solutionip.com. When you move into the dorms they give you a code to access the internet from. When you connect to the wireless network and try to use the internet, it automatically takes you to a solutionip website and asks you for your access code. My Mac originally did this, but then all of a sudden it stopped working. It doesn't automatically pull up the webpage, and even when we do get the webpage up. None of the codes we enter work, it begins to take the code and gets stuck in the process and eventually times out. The codes won't take at all. And they've all been new codes created for me by the school! I've done everything and my latest attempt at fixing this even had me delete everything in my computer to start over again! I'm going crazy here! I don't understand why my computer would do this! At first I thought it was Lion that I had installed and now I've restored my new MacBook Pro w/the iCore chip in it back to Snow Leopard. I'm going to try it tomorrow with snow leopard, see if that works. But if not. I'm at a loss. Any suggestions anyone? It's the only way I can get internet through the school. Sigh.

If you're doing everything right then it's an issue you need to take up with either the IT at your school and/or solutionip.com

  • Macbook Pro Only connects wirelessly with older Powerbook connected

I just bought a Macbook Pro and am having issues with my wireless internet connection. For some reason though when I have my older G4 1ghz Powerbook connected to the wireless router the connection on the Macbook Pro works flawlessly. I was having these problems with 10.4 and still with 10.5. The router is a Wireless G type Linksys.
    Any suggestions on why?

Try shuting down the G4 and the MBP. Then shut down your modem and router. Power cycle the modem, then the router, then the MBP. Post back.

  • IMessage on MacBook Pro not connected to iPhone

Messages on my MacBook Pro no longer seem to be connected to my iMessages. When I go into older messages, the recipient names are highlighted red, despite being iPhone users - and using phone numbers as addresses. When I attempt to create a new message, it says "Google Talk" in the text box. Any suggestions?

I would recommend upgrading to Mavericks.  I had this issue on my 2010 MBP 13" inch and the free upgrade from apple solved the issue.

  • Macbook Pro not connecting to LG tv

I have an Infinia LV5500 TV. Every time I try connecting my Macbook Pro, I get some weird sound coming out of the speakers of the TV, but a regular Macbook connects along with other laptops such as HP.  I've tried other HDMI cables as well. I've also tried contacting LG about this issue, but they're as useful as a box of rocks. Any of you guys have any ideas?

  • Macbook Pro Not Connecting

Well, explain to me this, the MBPs will not connect to my external network drive.  Yesterday everything was fine, but now nothing.  My Windows machine connects to it fine and connects to the Internet wirelessly.  My TV's & Bluerays connect to Netflix fine.  My MBPs even connect to the Internet fine.  Also, when I connect my iPhone to the MBP, it does not recongnize it so I am unable to sync with some my apps like iDatabase, Docs to Go or Money 4.  I get a message that says there is no connection.

I don't know if it will help, but network connections are one of the mentioned fixes:
    What's included?
The OS X Lion v10.7.1 Update is recommended for all users running OS X Lion and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability and compatibility of your Mac, including fixes that:
Address an issue that may cause the system to become unresponsive when playing a video in Safari.
Resolve an issue that may cause system audio to stop working when using HDMI or optical audio out.
Improve the reliability of Wi-Fi connections.
Resolve an issue that prevents transfer of your data, settings, and compatible applications to a new Mac running OS X Lion.
Resolve an issue in which an admin user account could be missing after upgrading to OS X Lion.

    Hi,
I uploaded my entire iTunes library from an external hard drive connected to my MacBook Pro and now it seems anytime I want to play music from iTunes on my MacBook Pro the same external hard drive has to be connected? What am I missing so I can play my music library on my MacBook like I do on my iPhone?

    Morning all -
Whenever I turn my Macbook Pro on, it doesn't recognise my wireless MM. I have to use the trackpad, and then either flick the switch on the bottom of the MM, or re-pair it with the Mac for it to work

  • New MacBook Pro not connecting to MOST wireless networks

Well I'm another loyal sufferer, 10.5.3 did nothing to solve the problem. After reading a bunch of posts however I think i have a bit of a unique situation..
I'm staying at a condo for the next two weeks without internet, so i poach it from my neighbor, it's fine he said i could. I had a PC and that connected fine, fast too, when i got my mac it worked for a few days then crapped out, gave me the "self-assigned ip address' message of death. I brought my Mac to work and it worked fine on the company's internet wireless (it's an 801.x security) so after work i took it home and it worked for a day. The next morning, same problem.
I took it to starbucks, said it was connected but wouldn't open any pages in firefox and wouldn't connect to messenger. Back home now it says i'm connected, I can get into the router settings and play around with it, nothing has worked thus far. I did a ping test and it's working fine, what's the problem?
For the record i have tried the following:
turning airport on and off then restarting
    Clearing airport preferences
    removing and reinstalling the OS
    clearing keychain
trying every possible advanced option, manually entering IP's etc.
doing the safe boot, restart and normal boot.
I hear switching the router to 'g' only is the way to do it. I'm going to try that tonight because right now I'm just concerned about my internet connection at home, it works fine at work.
Any new insight is greatly appreciated! I'm dyin' without it!

You probably connected but failed to get an IP address. If you have other network devices turn them off, restart the router and see if you can get access to the Internet then.
