Macbook pro not recognizing keyboard

Hi,
I have a late 2006 Macbook Pro15" Core 2 duo 2.2 with the latest 10.7.2 OS.
Recently the mouse pad hasbecome intermittently responsive and the keyboard cuts in and out. Yesterdaythe whole keyboard was not being detected by the computer and it started tolook for a blue tooth device. I restarted a couple times with the same results.I then took it to my local MacMall here in SM where it started workingperfectly. They did some tests and could not find any hardware issues... Gothome and its working intermittently again.
Help!!!! Any ideas whats goingon or suggstions?
Thanks!
Zac

Could be. I also have a 2006 MBP that I've opened several times due to some overheating issues that required my cleaning up the fans and hot air exhaust, so I remember the layout inside the chassis; sure enough, the keyboard is linked to the logic board by a small flat cable that attaches thanks to a flat, square nylon connector. It barely clips on in the best of circumstances, and I remember one time where I had to open the machine again because I couldn't get my keyboard to work at all. Yours seems to work intermittently, so I may be wrong...
In any case, one picture is worth a thousant words, they say: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-MacBook-Pro-15-Inch-Core-Duo-Model-A1150- Keyboard/484/4

  • Macbook Pro not recognizing Windows 7 RC 32-bit disk

I'm trying to install Windows 7 RC on my Macbook Pro but it's not recognizing the disk. Does anyone know why this is?

    ucbound,
I replied in my post to your same question as well.
Are you using Boot Camp Assistant to set-up for a clean install of Windows 7 RC:
Start Boot Camp > Create Windows partition > insert Windows DVD > click 'Continue' after DVD icon shows on desktop?
Or are you receiving the error message after clicking 'Continue' in Boot Camp Assistant?
Others here are more experienced with the MacBook series so hopefully they will chime in at some point if it is an in-depth issue / resolution here.

  • MacBook Pro not recognizing USBs on Dell monitor

I have a 2013 MacBook Pro running Mavericks 10.9.1. I recently purchased a Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23" IPS LED LCD Monitor to use for some graphics work. I am using a port to miniport cable to connect and have had no problems setting and calibrating displays to work the way I want. My problem is that I am  now using the only 2 USB ports on the laptop for my mouse and keyboard. The monitor has 4 USB ports and when I plug any type of device into them (apple keyboard, flashdrive, mouse wireless antenna, etc.) the computer does not recognize them or even notice them. Can I get the USBs on the monitor to work? If so how? Thank you in advance.

one more point to add...i installed windows using bootcamp, and through windows the 2560X1440 resolution works. so its not a hardware problem either

  • MacBook Pro not recognizing new printers

My MacBook Pro is not recognizing my new wireless Epson printer.  When I click "Add printer," no printers show in the list to add.  I have tried connecting it with the ethernet cord as well, but it still doesn't show up.  My dad's computer added the printer just fine, which is also a Mac.  My computer also isn't recognizing my husband's printer or my dad's printer at his house.  When I first bought the computer a few years ago (maybe 2 years??), I connected my current printer just fine and it still works.  However, I need a new printer, and now it doesn't seem to recognize any other printer besides the old one I have always had.  I have tried updating my computer, but it says that it is up to date.  Help!

    Lindsay518,
what said that it couldn’t be opened? Is the file completely downloaded? (If so, it should be 1,190,445,549 bytes long; you can Get Info on the file to confirm its length.)
Note that EPSON also has drivers available for your combination of printer and operating system version on their Web site. More importantly, they also have a firmware update available for the WF-2540.

  • MacBook Pro not recognizing MagicJack Plus

I conncected the MagicJack Plus into my macbook pro and successfully registered my product. I went through all the steps and received my phone number. After that it all went downhill.
I disconnected the magicjack and connected it to my router. That wasn't working so I connected it back to my pro and boom. It didn't recognize it and nothing would pop up like it should. I followed all the steps in removing the software and anything related to MagicJack and it still does not work. My phone number and account are activited. The blue light turns one and everything seems to work fine. I don't know what it is.
    Im running OS X Mavericks
Just wondering if anyone has had similar problems and any fixes.
    - Thanks

  • MacBook Pro not recognizing DVDs

I have a 2 Ghz week 10 MacBook Pro, and it just recently started doing this. The DVD is not bad, i checked both of the DVDs i used on other DVD players. This is what happens:
    -i insert the DVD
-it starts spinning and DVD Player launches, but stays in window mode
    -the movie DOES NOT play
then if i touch any controls such as play or rewind, it says Supported Disc Not Available. i also have MacTheRipper and that doesnt show the DVD either. as i said before, ive used DVD Player succesfully along with MacTheRipper. Any help would be appreciated.
    -UnBiased

I'm also having problems. My MacBook Pro 17 spits out blank Memorex DVD+RW media after spinning around for about 45 seconds. The Media says it's OK at 4x, and the drive is also spec'd at 4x?! My buddy's HP PC burns these DVDs just fine. Apple has (supposedly) replaced the drive it still does the same thing.
    Any ideas/thoughts out there? Thanx.

  • Why is my Macbook Pro not recognizing my contacts in Messages?

I downloaded OS X Yosemite on my Macbook Pro HD yesterday and everything seemed to integrate perfectly well except for the Messages app. I thought it may have been an error because my iPhone 5's OS was outdated, so I installed iOS 8.1 on my phone. That didn't change anything. My Mac won't send, or receive iMessages on my Macbook. It seems that the Messages app doesn't recognize my contacts when I click on a specific contact and highlights the name read in the Messages app. Does anyone have an idea why it is doing this, and what can I do to resolve the problem?

Can your MacBook Pro (MBP) recognize any Wi-Fi network, just not yours? If so, what is the make & model of your wireless modem?

  • Macbook Pro not recognizing RAM

    I have a late 2007 Macbook Pro.
    2.33 ghtz
    500 gig HD
    2 gig RAM
I checked the specs, and spoke with AppleCare (while AppleCare was still in effect) about my RAM being upgraded to 4 gigs, as it is listed as being able to support, and the AppleCare technicians I spoke to informed me this was okay to do.
I upgraded to the 4 gigs, and everything installed perfectly, and runs fine.  However, with mutiple apps open, she would start to bog down.
From checking "About This Mac" both 2 gig sticks are installed and being used.
From Activity Monitor, I only have 3 gigs.
From iStat Pro I only have 3 gigs.
I know that some older models could only handle 3 gigs, but this machine is past that window (so I was told by the computer, and AppleCare), and I was wondering if anyone knew of a reason this would have happened.
Of course my AppleCare has since expired, and eventually I'll be getting a newer model, but since this machine still runs circles around anyone elses PC I know, I see no reason to just get rid of her.  I would just like to solve this little mystery first.
Any advice or info will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

According to MacTracker that is expected. May have something to do with Duo cores, but a 64 bit processor should be able to address all 4 GB and them some, but 32 bit processor can only address a bit over 3 GB even though 4 GB of RAM are installed.

  • Macbook Pro not recognizing printer Canon iP4300

    Hello
I have been having problems with my Canon iP4300 Pinter. Once upon a time it worked, now it doesn't. I only use it to print direct to DVD's. I have another printer attached which is an all-in-one Brother for my main printing, faxing etc. (unfortunately it doesn't print direct to DVD tho). I have tried reinstalling the drivers but now mt MB Pro won't recognize the printer at all. If I plug it in to my USB hub I get a message stating "Over Current Usage" or something like that. I try plugging it in to my USB port on the MB Pro left or right side and still nothing. When I go thru Printer Settings it checks for new drivers and still nothing.
    What am I doing wrong?
Can I connect printer with a different cable? Firewire?
    Please help!!

    Hi.
Try a different USB cable. I had troubles with USB printer cables a couple of times, giving me the weirdest problems.
If that doesn't work, try uninstalling the IP4300 driver: move the /Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter folder to the Trash and empty it, then download and install the latest IP4300 driver from the Canon download page.
Plug the printer directly to the Macbook Pro, or get a powered USB Hub.
    Good Luck.

  • Xskey macbook pro not recognized

I have a red xskey, I don't see anyone talk about having a red one, but I have a red one.
I use it on my G5 on my powered USB hub and it works fine. It is recognized in my system profiler. I have also tested it directly on the USB port (no hub) and it works fine.
When I try it on my MBP it is not recognized. The OS does not see it when I look in the system profiler. Certainly Logic does not see it. However, if I plug in my powered usb hub to my MBP it works.
    From the profiler:
    Version: 0.01
    Bus Power (mA): 100
    Speed: Up to 1.5 Mb/sec
    Manufacturer: Emagic GmbH
    Product ID: 0x0041
    Vendor ID: 0x086a
Any tips? Should I apply for a new one? The hub thing is too much of a pain for me not to get this fixed.
    Thanks

Total mess up on my part. The red key was amplitube key. The new version of amplitube doesn't require a key so I didn't notice. Haven't touched my setup in 3+ years so forgot what my logic key even looked like!

  • Amadeus Pro not recognizing keyboard shortcut

Am using the latest Amadeus Pro (1.4.5) and the keyboard shortcuts for zooming in/out vertically is "option +-" but this isn't working for me. Just getting horizontal zooming. Unfortunately, there is no explicit Menu Command for zooming in/out vertically (just the shortcut according to the manual) so I can't customize the Keyboard Shortcut. Any ideas?

I don't see any of those keyboard combos in my shortcut menus and Command +- doesn't do anything. Option +- worked fine on pervious versions of Amadeus Pro...but just stopped working for this new version, for some reason. The developer has no clue and says he can't reproduce this.

  • MacBook Pro not recognizing disk or ejecting

I inserted a disk into my computer, and nothing happened. No spinning or anything. There's no disk icon on my desktop. It won't eject either. I tried the trackpad and F12 during startup but nothing happened. Help!
    Thanks

did you get an answer about ejecting disc? i can't either and i tried all these things below except the last one (because i couldnt get my mac to start like it describes). it was an installation disc for paralles 5.0 which installed fine, but the disc doesn't even show up on devices! how do i eject it??
Ejecting a CD or DVD when all else fails
If you've tried all the usual methods of ejecting a CD or DVD from your computer's optical drive, there are some other methods you can try.
First, quit all applications that are using files on the disc. Then try one of these alternate methods:
Open Disk Utility (in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder), select the disc, and choose File > Eject.
Choose Apple menu > Restart and hold down the mouse or trackpad button until the disc ejects.
If your drive has an emergency eject hole, put the computer to sleep and insert a large, straightened paper clip in the small emergency eject hole of the drive (the location varies, depending on the drive). Push firmly until the disc ejects.
If all other methods fail, you can try to eject the disk using the firmware. (This may not work on all computers. For example, it does not work on Intel-based computers.) The steps below describe how to start up and briefly use the computer with only the firmware loaded, not the standard Mac OS X interface.
To eject a disc using firmware:
    Restart the computer.
When you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Command-Option-O-F keys. (The Command key has an Apple on it.)
Release the keys when you see a white welcome screen.
    At the prompt, type:
    eject cd
Press Return, then wait a few seconds. The disc drive should eject the disc, and "ok" appears on the screen when the action is complete.
    Type:
    mac-boot
    Press Return.
Your computer starts up normally and you see the familiar Mac OS X desktop.

  • Macbook Pro not recognizing behringer mixer

I don't know if it's because I have OSX Lion or what, but the macbook won't recognize the USB input from the mixer, nor will it run the CD included. The CD will spin some, and then just eject itself. The Mixer is supposed to work with mac! Or at least I thought it was. Could it be something wrong with my macbook?
    Thanks!

And while you're rounding up the driver, fond out whether it has been updated by the manufacturer for compatibility with Lion.
