Macbook pro not working as should

extremeley annoyed how i have to use my £200 4 year old laptop to do this because my 1 day old macbook is incapable. Got this yesterday and once you open it it wont connect to wifi for a about 10 minutes. it will say its connected tot the point but safari and any other apps wont be able to connect and will say theres no connection. after about 10 minutes it does actually work.... when i try to run ableton live which is the main reason i spent £1600 on this thing, it takes a good 40 seconds to load then hangs the loading cursor and i cant do anything in it? again my cheap crap laptop can open ableton i about 20 just isnt powerful enough to run the synths but it will open before audio is played. this mac should be able to run my projects 5 times over and it can even open the program or work at all.  after this the whole thing just locks up and goes extremeley slow so i have to shut it down. wait another 10 minutes to use the internet and its jsut iritating. really bad experience of switching to mac almost wish i'd just bought a windows laptop.

to add what just happened then, an application timed out of loading for so long it asked me to force quit. i did that and the whole screen went grey and i had to shut off by the power button

  • Why does the internet on my new macbook pro not work when my old macbook's does?

Why does the internet on my new macbook pro not work when my old macbook's does? I'll have to turn the wifi off and back on multiple times to get the internet to continue to work on my Macbook Pro (running mountain lion but did it on lion also) when it runs fine on my old white Macbook (running lion). Is there something I can do to fix it or do I just have to deal with it?

Here is your fix .. I have uploaded my properly calibrated profile get it here :
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YAJL6A9X
And it should go to your user folder/Library/ColorSync/Profiles
if you have one already you can rename either one ..
and then go to system preferences - displays - color to select the profile .
you will get rid of the blue tint while keeping correct color and gamma
This is for the newer 2010 MBP's altho if same display was used might also give good results in the previous models as well . .

  • Macbook pro not working without battery

my macbook pro not working if i remove the battery
& if the battery is empty my macbook pro not working before charging

    Try an SMC reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
You should not run on AC with the battery removed. The MBP should work that way, but the OS throttles back the CPU so running like that is not recommended.

  • Sound through HDMI on MacBook Pro not working

I've a MacBook Pro [Retina Display] (Mid 2012) with HDMI Output. I've tried to connect my Samsung PDP to it, and the Display is detected successfully. No problems in using the display in Mirror or Extended view. However there is no sound output on the Display. I've also tried to connect my Mac to Sony AV Receiver -- To my Samsung Display, the display is detected, but still no sound on AV Receiver.
I've than checked the sound preferences and it says that "The Selected device has no output controls". I've also tried to match the sound output Hz to input and tried all combinations, doesn't work at all. The Volume icon is greyed out as soon as I select the Output to Samsung. I'm now running out of thoughts.
My goal is to be able to Play sound on either the Sony AV receiver or Samsung PDP, either way will work for me.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks
    Rishi.

Some time ago I had this problem too. I had another Macbook with a broken main board, so I decided to wrack the connector. This showed clearly how the switch inside the connector works. It is a "normal on" switch, and it switches to off if a plug is plugged in. Then the software senses the connection to determine if this is a audio plug (metal) or a a optical connector (plastic). What happens, is that some dirt sticks on the switch, so the computer "thinks" it has a connector plugged in. Since it senses no connection, it switches to optical. The solution is clearly to clean the switch. That can be done, sometimes it might work from the outside, with the toothpick, compressed air, or whatever, but that didn't work for me. Best is to open up your mac, removing the keyboard, etc. Follow the instruction here: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/MacBook-Core-Duo-PRAM-Battery/297/1, but not all the way! Don't remove the main board, or the cpu-cooler. Go so far that you can reach the metal strip on top of the connectors. This strip should be bend so that the connector is reachable. See first photo. The audio connector is inside a metal box. That box is for radio wave interference and for strength. So you can just wrack it open with pincers and a screw driver. Just watch out you don't drop any metal parts on the main board! When the box is removed, remove the plastic top. Now it is quite simple to clean the switch. See photo 2, the arrow is pointing to the switch. Don't be confused by the photo, you shouldn't remove the connector from the main board! On the left you see the wracked metal box. I used compressed air to clean the switch. When done (just connect the keyboard and start your mac to test), put back the plastic top, put some tape on it to keep it together and if you don't use brute force injecting a connector, you will be fine...
    Hope this helps!

  • Headphone Jack on MacBook Pro Not Working

    Hello,
The headphone jack on my MacBook Pro is not working properly.
When I plug in my earbuds or headphones only one side of the headphone or earbud is working and the other side is "muted".
I am certain the problem are not my earbuds or headphones because I use them with other devices and they work just fine.
Can someone help me how to fix it?
    Please and thank you much.

Go step by step and test.
    1.   System Preferences > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers/Headphone
           Settings for the selected device:
           Balance:
Make sure that the slider is set at middle.
    2.    AudioMIDI Setup
           Applications/Utilities/ Audio MIDI Setup.app

  • Pairing with MacBook Pro not working

    Hi
I was able to pair my iPhone with my MacBook Pro months ago (for tethering purposes), *but now it stopped working*.
Each time I try to pair it, Bluetooth Setup Assistant asks me to insert the pairing number in my iPhone, but I never get to see the alert on my iPhone asking me that number, so, minutes later Bluetooth Setup Assistant shows me an error message: "The pairing attempt was unsuccessful(...)"
    Screenshot: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/400002/bluetooth.png
    Info:
    - iPhone 3G with OS 3.1.2
    - MacBook Pro (early 2008) with OS X 10.5.8.
    - Tried resetting iPhone, switched on/off Bluetooth, switched Tethering on/off too.
    - Tethering by USB doesn't work either. (Doesn't show any new network device)
    - Successfully paired my iPhone with a Renault Space, so it's not a hardware error (i think).
    Any suggestions here?
    Thanks!

check to see if the iphone thinks it's already paired to the computer. if so, delete the pairing from the iphone and try again. If no change try rebooting the iphone. make sure the iphone is close as possible to the display hinge of your computer. The iphone should display an alert saying your computer want to pair, confirm that and then click continue in setup assistant on your computer.

  • Projecting macbook pro not working

I hooked up my macbook pro to a project and the only thing displayed on the screen was my desktop image (no icons). Tried to change the display size on my macbook and projector - still not working.
Does anyone have any idea what is happening? What is the solution to my problem.
    Thanks

This is because your computer in in extended desktop and not on mirror dipays. You will notice you can drag your windows the right and they will pop up on the projector. If you would like to mirror the display on your MacBook Pro and on your projector, go into system preferences and the to displays while connected to the projector. There should be a check box allowing you to mirror the displays.

  • Bluetooth from iPhone 3GS to MacBook Pro not working?

I am having (seemingly) bluetooth connection issues with "some" devices to my MacBook Pro.  I note:
    * Mouse pairs fine
    * iPhone 3GS does not remain connected (focus of this forum question)
Error - after pairing my iPhone 3GS to my MBP I get an error:
    The Bluetooth Network is Unavailable
There was an error connecting your device.  Make sure the device is turned on and in range.
    Notes:
    * MacBook Pro details:
      Model Name:          MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier:          MacBookPro6,2
      Processor Name:          Intel Core i7
      System Version:          Mac OS X 10.7.3 (11D50b)
Background: Ultimately interested in teethering my iPhone 3G data connection to my MacBook Pro, but for the moment the bluetooth connection won't even remain in place.

nothing in these articles helped unfortunately - some more clarification:
tethering via USB from iPhone 3G to MacBook Pro => WORKS
tethering via Bluetooth => does NOT work, with bluetooth connectioning not staying up
    During pairing process:
    devices "see each other"
pairing appears to work, then you see that the connection drops out directly afterwards (almost immediately)
on iPhone message = "Connection Unsuccessful - XXX's MacBook Pro is not supported"
on MacBook - it's just the connection in Bluetooth options shows up as not connected
in /var/log/system I see some bluetooth related lines:
    Apr 18 19:33:14 Gregs-MacBook-Pro bnepd[18950]: [IOBluetoothDevice instantiateChannel] BluetoothHCIAuthenticationRequested failed (0x0006), so retry
    Apr 18 19:33:14 Gregs-MacBook-Pro sandboxd[18966] ([18950]): bnepd(18950) deny mach-lookup com.apple.blued
Apr 18 19:33:14 Gregs-MacBook-Pro bnepd[18950]: [IOBluetoothDevice instantiateChannel] BluetoothHCIAuthenticationRequested failed (0x0006), so disconnect device
    Apr 18 19:33:53 Gregs-MacBook-Pro blued[22]: Removing Bluetooth configured device: 00-26-08-23-23-9d
Any other ideas?  Is it a physical problem with my MBP?  but then again my bluetooth mouse stays connected ok.  And in terms of the iPhone well it tethers fine to the iPad via bluetooth....

  • One speaker on MacBook Pro not working for certain programs?

When I either receive or place a FaceTime call on my MacBook Pro, the left speaker cuts out audio and produces high static.  The right speaker is fine.  The receiving end can also hear the static feedback, but their two speakers work fine.  I have all my iOS devices setup to receive and place FaceTime calls (iPhone 5s, iPad, and MacBook Pro 15 inch late 2011).  If I place or receive the FaceTime calls on my iPhone or iPad, there is no problem.
I've tested the speakers, youtube, iTunes audio, streaming websites, netflix, etc... and all works fine on the MacBook Pro.  Just FaceTime.  I also went into system preferences and the speaker setup is correct (audio in and out - internal speakers).
I've also restarted, reinstalled Yosemite...still FaceTime left speaker problem.
I appreciate any troubleshooting advice and/or if others have experienced this problem.
    Thanks!

The Troubleshooting FaceTime for Mac OS X:FaceTime for Mac: Troubleshooting FaceTime - Apple Support does not offer much in the way of help for the problem you are having.
Have you tried going to System Preferences, Sound, Output and playing around with the Balance to see if that makes any difference?
You might also consider going to FaceTime, Preferences and turn FaceTime OFF and then back ON.
And to have the system checked, you could take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs see if there is something hardware-wise interfering with FaceTime.

  • Need help one USB Port on MacBook Pro not working

Its been a weak now and im getting tired of my MacBook pro USB not reading anything.. It wont read/connect usb drives, IPods/IPhones/IPads, and Android phones. I have tried the PRAM and SMC resets and nothing has worked i even left my Macbook pro off for a whole day. ITS ONLY ONE PORT NOT WORKING, i took it to bestbuy because its closest to me but geek squad just did what i explained above and told me get a USB hub and NO! i want to fix this issue... Anyone has had this happen can you let me know if its because the USB port is no longer working or a software issue... Also i keep getting this notification telling me USB devices disabled draining to much power but i have nothing connected!!
ps- my MacBook Pro is getting very hot fast and it happens when im not even using it, i get home and it very hot could there be another hardware failure i dont leave applications open when i sleep it.

It sounds like you might have a hardware problem. Your best bet is to go to the Genius Bar. The evaluation is free, and they'll fix it if you're under Applecare. Back up your stuff first though.

  • New iMac as second display for MacBook Pro not working

I just bought the new thin 2012 27" iMac as a replacement to the last model I had.
I want to use the iMac as a second display for my 2012 MacBook Pro.
I have a Mini Display Port to Mini Display Port cable that used to work with my previous setup and at work with my external display.
However, this isn't working on the new iMac. When I try the Command + F2 suggestion I've seen in the forums here. Nothing happens.
Do I need a new cable now that these are "thunderbolt" connections?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Demetre

You will most likely need a Thunderbolt cable as they are both Thunderbolt devices and not Mini DisplayPort.

  • Macbook Pro not working right after getting it back from Apple Store

I had to bring my last generation Macbook Pro into the Apple store to have a faulty optic drive and logic board replaced. I just got home and the date in the preferences was set to 2001 and it will not connect to my network, even though I am typing this on another Mac using the same connection. It does see it, it just shows a message with an exclamation mark in the Airport area saying no internet connection.
Any ideas of what I may need to do? Are both of these a sign that they may have messed something up? I did reboot it after getting it back.
    Thanks.

Just bring it back. Have them check it out and demonstrate that it's working properly.
