MacBook Pro order still Processing????

I placed an order for a base model 15" Pro on friday... the order status is still "Processing Items" (4 days now) I thought these were supposed to be in stock?? it says delivers Nov 27th which is tomorrow... anybody else getting delays like this? any idea what is up?
thanks

Call the Apple Store and ask about status. As just fellow users, we won't know what's going on with your order, and someone else's experience won't be very informative about your particular order.

Please somebody tells me what to do.....

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to bare metal from any of them.) Don’t erase the OS X 10.7 or later recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • My MacBook Pro is still running the OS X 10.5.8, can I install the Mavericks directly? Or could you advise which latest system is able to be installed for my notebook?

Hello, my MacBook Pro is still running the OS X 10.5.8, can I install the Mavericks directly? Or could you advise which latest system is able to be installed for my notebook?

First up, we don't know what kind of MacBook you have so we can't tell you what OS you can run.  You can use this instruction to identify which MacBook model you have:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1635.  Alternatively, from the Apple menu open "About this Mac".  From the window that pops up, click "More Info".  This will open the system profiler.  Click "Hardware" and locate the model identifier, there.
Next, you need to determine if your system can even run Mavericks before you can go about installing it.  These are the requirements:
To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space
Lastly, as you'll note from the above, you can't update to Mavericks (or Mountain Lion or Lion) from 10.5.8.  Mavericks is only available in the App Store.  You need to be running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) in order to download and install any OS from Lion (10.7) and up.  You can buy Snow Leopard here:  http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard

  • My macbook pro is still under warranty.  I have just put it into Mac 1 to be repaired because I had the folder with the dreaded Question mark on it....new hard drive.  I was told that if I wanted my data retrieved, I would have to pay $445 p/h. Ahh!!!

My newest Mac just did the same "folder of death" dance. It's too late for you now, but you might consider a passport backup drive. You can get 2&3 T-bytes now fairly reasonably priced. A given with computers is they will crash, just a question of how bad and when, so you can be prepared for the next time.

  • My Macbook Pro is still under limited warranty. Is it possible to upgrade my pro to retina display by going in to the store?

My Macbook Pro is still under limited warranty. Is it possible to upgrade my pro to retina display by going in to the store?

You can only exchange or upgrade your macbook pro for a retina macbook if you are within the 14 days purchase time frame. After the 14th day, you are no longer eligible for an exchange or any upgrade but only for free repairs.
Limited warranty doesn’t mean you would be eligible for an exchange or an upgrade, but its a time period in which your existing macbook hardware and software issues are rectified free of cost.
    Hope this helps.....

  • Macbook Pro order processing.. last chance to change specs  - Need your advice!!!

    Hi all,
I just orderd a 17 inch Macbook Pro (actually ordered it the evening of Thursday March 29th).
    It has the following specs:
    2.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
    4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
    128GB Solid State Drive
    8x Double-Layer SuperDrive
MBP 17" HR Glossy WS Display
    Keyboard/Users Guide
    Country Kit
Any feedback/thoughts on the computerI ordered?
    Would love some knowledgable feedback..
I have a 27inch iMac with 1 TB of storage - so I store all media, etc. on there so not too concerned with the small space on the Macbook, will jsut house files I am working on at the time on the macbook pro, everything will live on the iMac.
Will use the Macbook pro for safari, itunes, maybe a littke iworks and some minor video editing...
    Any feedback on the purchase
Final price after tax was $2,912 CDN.

    Thanks Kappy...
Bit more info for anyone else who wants to chime in.
Wont be going mobile too much... will take it with me the odd time, was going to buy a nice back pack from the apple store for when I travel with it, but it will mainley stay at my home.
As for the 17inch, wanted to go big as possible... the 17inch is the only thing I was not thinking of changing... anything else is in play... staying within that 3 K budget of course (which I am at with the specs above)

  • Do latest macbook pro's still have the heat issue? (7/10/06)

wondering if the latest revisions of macbook pro still have the heat issue.. i heard the issue of the fan going off/on causing that 'whine' is gone and now the last thing holding me back from making the 'switch' is this heat dealy.

My week 12 MBP has never had heat issues. It's fast, stable and comfortable to use.
The case bottom of my 5+ year old TiBook gets hotter than the MBP. I've used a tilt stand for PowerBooks for years, both to reduce heat and because I prefer the typing angle.
People are not getting burned. Really. If I were to charge a battery at the same time I'm running processes that load up both CPUs, the metal strip behind the function keys would get quite warm. It might be uncomfortable to touch (but doesn't have to be touched to use the computer). But it will not result in a physical burn, unless one loves discomfort enough to keep touching it for a protracted period. Even then, not a serious burn. A cup of coffee or tea is far more dangerous than a MacBook Pro.
I've encountered several hot-running MBPs owned by people that I know in my local area. In each case, the problem was caused by software that was loading up the processors at full blast. One case was a runaway process that was initiated by software that was incompatible with the Intel processors. Another was caused by a stalled startup item -- again, software incompatible with the Intel CPU. In both cases, Migration Assistant had been used and the applications had not been updated for Intel compatibility.
And still another case was a large collection of Widgets, some of which are badly written and load up the processors. Deactivating all but 3 or 4 Widgets made that computer run cool and quickly.
Complaints about heat on this forum dropped dramatically after the last firmware update.
If you want the most powerful notebook computer Apple has ever designed, get a MacBook Pro. I'm delighted with mine. No fix necessary, thank you.

  • My macbook pro order completely disappeared...?

I ordered my first ever apple product (15in macbook pro) yesterday.  I checked my order history this morning and was told that I hadn't ordered anything from apple. I called customer support but the automated robot hung up on me due to an extremely high number of calls. I should have printed my invoice but I didn't because I foolishly believed that I would be able to access it online later. All day yesterday, apple was telling me that they had received my order and were waiting to process it. Apple never sent me an email telling me that my order had been cancelled and I don't want to reorder until I know that my first order actually never went through or was cancelled. Has anyone ever had a similar experience? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Same situation for me after ordering last night. Order was showing as processing yesterday, but completely gone today.  Finally spoke to someone at Apple who could not locate the order but suggested waiting a few hours and calling back.  Seemed to suggest that there may be some issues due to the high order volume on Black Friday.

  • Why is my macbook pro is still using a lot of RAM?

I have a Macbook pro 15" (mid 2012) 2.6 GHz and with 16gb RAM and was wondering why my macbook pro still processes and uses over 9GB of ram when I'm not even having  Lightroom, Photoshop, and Illustrator in effect yet.

It's not a memory leak, see the references to learn more about how RAM is utilized to speed up the Mac.

  • How does the macbook pro act when processing software upgrades? How long does it usually take?

First-time Mac user here.....last night I did the Software Update on my Macbook Pro. It appeared to go through a normal process, then wanted to restart. It did; then I shut it down for the night. This morning, it said it needed to restart to process updates. It did. I used it all day, then proceeded to shut it down again. It went to a gray/blue screen, and has been there for over 2 hours now.  Is it still processing updates, or does it have a problem?

Sounds like it has a problem.

  • When I connect my iPhone 4S to my MacBook Pro, the synchronization process by iTunes failed with the following message "My iPhone could not be synchronized, because the synchronization process has not started". What does that mean?

    Hello,
When I connect my iPhone 4S to my MacBook Pro (through the USB port), the synchronization process by iTunes failed with the following message "My iPhone could not be synchronized, because the synchronization process has not started".
    What does that mean?
Thanks in advance for fixing my problem.

I think I remember hearing that if you quit iTunes with your device still connected, then open iTunes up again, it should work.

  • Refurbished Macbook Pro order suddenly got cancelled without any reason

    Hi,
Yesterday I ordered Refurbished Macbook Pro (http://store.apple.com/us/product/FC721LL/A). I got the order number as well but didn't get any confirmation email. I talked to customare care and they said that it will reflect after 30 mins. But today morning when I checked my order on apple online store, it says that My order status = Cancelled. I checked by bank account and they have already processed my debit card and it is showing as "Transcaction is Processing". I don't know why they suddenly cancelled my Order? Is anybody has any idea?
    Thanks,
    Nimesh

  • Replaced macbook pro battery still wont work.

    Hi all,
I’ve been a long time reader but I haven’t been able to fix my issue and its been nearly 18 months, so I need your advice as to what to do.
One day I was using my laptop (Macbook Pro Unibody Mid 2009 model) and realised that my battery was losing battery but it was plugged into the AC. Eventually my battery died so I assumed my charger had short-circuited. I used a new charger, and although it turn on my fear worsened when I realised that even with a new charger that it still said no battery available. Also the sidelights, which indicate the status of my battery, will no longer flash at all and the light on my magsafe is always green. So up to this point, my charger stopped working, and what looked like my battery had stopped working. I tried everything to resettling my PRAM and SMU to removing the battery and holding down the power button then restoring the battery. Nothing. I then had no choice but to order a new battery, which cost me £70. To increase my problem, a new battery didn’t work. I don’t remember resetting any settings once I placed the new battery in. I am now selling the battery if anyone wants it when I realised it wasn’t the problem. So then I thought, maybe the magsafe connector is the problem. But like I said previously, my computer still works when plugged in to the AC so therefore it isn’t the charger or the battery as both had been replaced, and it can’t be the logic board as my computer has been working for the last 18 months. I then did an Apple hardware Test and it came back with the code for no battery detected, even with my new battery placed inside. So this must mean that the connection between my battery and my logic board is somehow damaged. Am I right? Does anyone have any insight into how I can fix this or any place in the UK, which can fix logic boards and wont just tell me to replace it? I have a perfectly working mac when it runs off AC, and although it runs on half its CPU usage because it can’t detect a battery I have since gotten round that. I need help, and I have no idea what to do. If anyone helps me get my mac up and running I will buy you a beer or cold beverage if I’m ever in your part of the world/country.
    Regards,

See this discussion - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4135250?tstart=30 - a good number of notebook users saw a degradation in battery life after upgrading to Mountain Lion.

  • I have two different iCloud accounts. I can't sign into photo stream with my personal account and have tried deleting from my iPhone first, then the MacBook Pro. Still won't let me sign in with the personal account. Please help.

I have two different iCloud accounts - business and personal. I can't sign into Photo Stream with my personal account because it says my business account is my primary account. They are separate but equal accounts. I have tried deleting the iCloud account from my iPhone, then my MacBook Pro and signing in again on both devices. The iPhone says that my primary account ismy personal account (which is good) but my MacBook Pro still will not sign into that account so I can use Photo Stream.
Any suggestions? This iCloud stuff is getting annoying.

you have a ps cs4 license for mac and you have some way of finding your serial number.
if yes, download an install the installation file.  if you already have the installation file, what is its name and file extension?  (eg, if it's one file, it should be a dmg file.)

  • New hard drive, clean install of Lion, but MacBook Pro is still freezing

    Hi everyone,
Even the folks at the Apple store don't seem to know what's going on with my MacBook Pro.
My hard drive crashed a few weeks ago. I bought a Western Digital Scorpio Blue and replaced it myself. The MacBook didn't seem to like it (lots of freezing, going really slow, etc) and so, after reading online that many MacBook Pro users did not like the WD Scoprio Blue, I returned it and bought a 320 GB Hitachi. Before replacing the WD drive with the Hitachi drive, I used SuperDuper! to make my external hard drive a clone of the WD hard drive. I replaced the WD with the Hitachi, booted from the external, and then restored all my stuff to the Hitachi. The computer still didn't work so well, so I did a zero-out erase and a clean install of Lion. I dragged my files over individually (only about 100 GB of word documents, music, and photos). For the first two days, everything worked perfectly. Then I started getting these error messages:
Word: Word cannot save or create this file. The disk may be full or write protected. Try one of the following. *Free more memory. *Make sure that the disk you want to save the file on is not full, write-protected, or damaged.
Chrome: Your profile could not be opened correctly. Some features may be unavailable. Please check that the profile exists and you have permission to read and write its contents.
Dragging files to trash: The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occured (error code -50).
Fireforx: Close Firefox. A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time.
In addition, the computer kept freezing. I also had problems with Mail and iTunes. Disk verify, permission verify, S.M.A.R.T. utility all said that the hard drive was working fine though.
So, I brought the computer to Apple. They did a zero-out erase, reinstalled Lion, and did what they called a "software repair". They said it should work fine. I just got home from the store, booted up the computer, and it's barely working. All sorts of error messages, safari won't work, it keeps freezing, and I was only able to open disk utility once. I verified disk, and it came up with no problems. I verified disk permissions, and when I tried to repair disk permissions, it kept saying it was "unable" to.
I don't know what it could be. It's not the hard drive...I've run disk utility, S.M.A.R.T., and an app that checks the hardware associated with the drive. All of these programs say the hard drive is absolutely fine. I've also reset PRAM. Another thing worth noting is that I'm currently booting/working off of my external, and it works absolutely perfectly.
Any ideas? One of my friends suggested I go back to Snow Leopard, but I don't see what difference that would make. Please help! Anything would be very much appreciated! Thanks!!

The theory is that you have a weak bit in one of the modules, and sometimes (rarely) it flips over. The trick is to try and catch it.
If you move the modules, the weak bit will be at a different Address in memory. Different things will be loaded into the word with the weak bit, and the symptoms may be different.
It may not do anything at all. But it is so easy to try, it is worth a shot.
On a multi-module memory, you need to keep your wits about you when doing this, or you put them back the way they were originally. So you should pick a direction and always move them your "regular" direction.
