Macbook Pro OS 10.6.8 (updated) with 10.6.3 install disc question

My Question is...
My macbook pro was bought on November 2010 from amazon, and it came with OS 10.6.3. However, I recently upgraded to 10.6.8, and my install cd that originally came with my macbook pro is from November 2010, and it still has OS 10.6.3. My question is that, will this cause a problem in any way since I am going to install Windows 7 on Bootcamp, and Bootcamp has been recently updated, and if I put the Mac install DVD to install the drivers, something could mess up since the Mac install DVD is a completely different version than my 10.6.8 macbook pro (but the point is not bootcamp, it's if this could cause a problem). Thank you for any answers.
Note: One phrase is bolded because that is the main thing I am asking about.
Additonal Details:
Type of Mac: Laptop
Mac Laptop type: Macbook Pro
Month and Year: November 2010
Where purchased: Amazon
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
Install DVD version: 10.6.3
Macbook Pro current version: 10.6.8

Ok so your trying to install Windows 7 on a bootcamp made partition? You don't need the OSX disk for this task. You do need an internet connection to download the windows7 drivers for your specific macbook pro. Do not install the drivers from the disk because they will be very old. Bootcamp will walk you through the whole process.

Connect to iTunes and restore. If you have difficulty, you may have to put the device into Recovery Mode. See the instructions in this support document. If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Install or Reinstall Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, or Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible

    What DVDs are this ?
If it is OSX Snow Leopard Installation DVD then yes this disc contains the BootCamp Drivers version 3.x and is needed after the installation of Windows to install the BootCamp Drivers.
With OSX Lion BootCamp is at version 4.x and the BootCamp Drivers have to be downloaded during use of the BootCamp Assistant in OSX.

  • MacBook Pro running Lion 10.7.2 with second display

I have a 27" Samsung monitor as my main display hooked up to my MacBook Pro. I just recently updated to Lion. Now, sometimes, when I open the MBP and turn on the Samsung monitor the MBP screen stays black and I have to go to the Displays icon on the menu bar and click Detect Displays for the MBP screen to come on. I don't remember ever having this problem with Snow Leopard. Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing? Is anyone else having this problem?

Is your MB Pro Thunderbolt or MiniDisplay port? I don't have a different answer either way, just wondering. I have the same Samsung 27" and my MB Pro is the mid-2010 (MiniDisplay). I had this happen to me a couple of times. I had read -somewhere??- that it likely has something to do with HDMI. I'm going MiniDisplay>HDMI via an adapter. What had been more of a problem for me regarding 2 monitors was the new behavior of a dual monitor system on Lion. But like all the other changes we're all getting used to now I've adjusted.
I'm away from the Samsung 27 for ten days now but before I left home, I recall when I had the MB Pro screen black, detect displays didn't bring it back. Had to restart.

macbook pro - iPhoto keep prompting to update after Yosemite update. Error message when trying to update -This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.

I only have 1 apple ID and the same was used to set up this early 2011 macbook pro and iPhoto app. I don't want to loose out on any photos. I tried logging out of app store and back in but no luck. PLEEAASEE HELPP!!!
This problem has been reported by quite a few forum members, who skipped the update to iPhoto 9.5.1 while running Mavericks. In that case try to purchase iPhoto again instead of updating.
After making your backup try the following:
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the applications folder, but do not empty the Trash.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your AppleID.
Open the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support, as Niel pointed out: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/

  • MacBook Pro 2009 problems after latest update. Anyone else got the same issues?

    Hey community:)
A couple of nights ago I decided to update my MacBook Pro to the latest version/update. It all went fine, I installed them, rebooted it and logged into my account as usual.
Then it all started, my finder/spotlight slowed down by atleast 50%, my videofiles both .mkv and .avi started acting funny on searching and playing generally.
I then decided to go surf some on the web(safari), it went fine for the first minute. After that it didn't work at all, pages wouldn't start loading at all, and I had to quit the Safari.app and reboot it to even get the thing to work.
Is there anything I can do about this, or to rephrase: is there anyone else with the same issues?

Let's see, starting at the first reply
    @sig
"I updated it to the latest update" as in taking the updates that was given. I'll "explain" some more: The macbook in question didn't have any new updates in atleast the last 1,5 months, as I've been working 14h++ a day with the same things and didn't really have the time to update before the 22.March. Sorry for not stating the obvious before now, but got kinda frustrated and didn't really think thorough the question, but I'm going to try give the most information I can possibly find!
I installed these updates 22. march:
    iTunes(10.2.1)
    Mac OS X Update Combined(10.6.7)
    iWeb Update(3.0.3)
    AirPort Utility(5.5.2)
After that update my video playback started getting harder and harder, I could watch .mkv files but I'd get more and more errors or even playback stops. The macbooks performance in finder did also start slowing down.
The following updates was installed 2 June:
    Safari(5.0.5)
    iTunes(10.2.2)
    Snow Leopard Font Update(1.0)
    Security Update 2011-002(1.0)
Java for Mac Os X 10.6 Update 4(1.0)
    iDVD 7.1.1 Update(7.1.1)
    ProKit Update(7.0)
Security Update 2011-003(installed today, 1 day after the problem started fyi)
after that update my safari stopped working properly and my playback of videos got even worse than they got after my updates the 22. March. Included with these things my finder/spotlight started getting slower and slower, until it got to where it is now with files loading atleast 50% slower than before.
    @ Baby Boomer (USofA)
I did not use the repair permissions before 3. June(fter the latest security update)
I simply installed the updates and got prompted with the restart from the updates, followed it and then logged in after the updates was finished with the configuring.
I have now repaired and verified the permissions, and can't seem to find any difference in the performance of my macbook.
@ both sig and Baby Boomer (USofA)
Thanks for the help so far, hope I can find a solution to this without having to format and reinstall everything again

Anyone have any idea what this is about?

    Sasha-
Maybe your looking in the wrong "Library". On my Mavericks; I open the HD to see a folder below the Library Folder called "Systems". Open the Systems Folder to see a "Library Folder". Open that library folder to see "Extensions folder". Open the extensions folder to find the "AppleUSBethernetHost.kext" and delete that extention. Following Lanny's post, do this:
    1st- Close iTunes.
2nd- Delete the system extension “AppleUSBethernetHost.kext” from here:
      //System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBethernetHost.kext
3rd- go to iTunes 11.4 download, here:  https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
click on the "Download Now" link.
4th- Find the downloaded iTunes11.4.dmg file, open it, now open the Install iTunes.pkg
After the re-install as above I got the successfully installed window and no “pop up”
    improperly installed AppleUSBMultitouch.kext warning window.

  • I am having Macbook Pro, I have recently tried updating my operating system to OS Yosemite, but after that its giving problem in connecting to Wifi. The error is "Connection Time out Occurred". Its getting connected by Ethernet cable.

I am having Macbook Pro, I have recently tried updating my operating system to OS Yosemite, but after that its giving problem in connecting to Wifi. The error is "Connection Time out Occurred". Its getting connected by Ethernet cable.

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved. Some of these steps are only possible if you have control over the wireless router.
    Step 1
Turn Wi-Fi off and back on.
    Step 2
Restart the router and the computer. Many problems are solved that way.
    Step 3
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
    Step 4
    Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
    Step 5
In OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and fix the issues listed in the Summary, if any.
    Step 6
Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.
    Step 7
You may need to change other settings on the router. See the guidelines linked below:
Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    Potential sources of interference
    Step 8
Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    Step 9
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).

  • Macbook pro 10.6.7 and trouble with install hp 2575 printer. HELP!

    Hi,
I have a Macbook pro 10.6.7 and am trying and failing to install a hp 2575 printer. HELP!
I have downloaded various hp installs along with apple software updates to no avail. HELP!
    Thanks

None of those things you mentioned were what I suggested.
I'm guessing the "ctrl click in printer preferences" means you Reset the Printing System?
If so, that is what I would have suggested if deleting it by selecting the ( - ) button and then adding it with the ( + ) button.
But, if HP has a fix, it likely needs to update its drivers.

  • Macbook Pro frozen screen from software update

Did a software update to macbook pro, but now the grey screen with Apple logo and spinning wheel are the only things displayed for the past several hours.  I've already tried a hard shut down and reboot, but still get the same results.

First, try booting your Mac in safe mode as described here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
Be aware that booting in safe mode can take a little longer than a normal startup, so I would give it about 15 minutes before giving up. If this works, just restart your Mac and see if it boots up normally again.
If you can't boot into safe mode, there is probably a filesystem issue that is preventing your Mac from fully starting up. You can only fix this by booting into OS X Recovery and launching Disk Utility there to have it repair your system drive. The steps depend on which version of OS X and which model of MacBook Pro you're using.
Generally, there is one of two options:
    1. Turn on your Mac and immediately press and hold the Cmd+R keys.
    2. If this doesn't bring up OS X Recovery, you'll need a bootable rescue medium, such as an OS X DVD or a Recovery USB stick. Insert it and keep pressing the option key (alt) during startup, until you get the choice to boot from the rescue medium.
