  • I recently changed my MacBook Pro password, and now I don't remember it.  Is there anyway to gain access to my mac without reinstalling or deleting everything that's on it?  I don't have the disk that came with it either.

Hi.  I recently changed my MacBook Pro password, and now I don't recall what it is.  My hope is that I can somehow gain access without deleting everything currently on it.  I do not have the MAC disk that it came with.  Is there something I can do myself?  Should I take it to the MAC store?  Thanks in advance for your help.

It helps with this kind of question to state which system version you are using on the computer as the answer will vary.

  • Is there any way to bypass MacBook Pro passwords?

    Hi everyone!
I have the newest model MacBook pro and me and my moms side of the family are currently fighting and my stepdad decided to take my MacBook pro from me (which I worked all summer for to buy) and threatened me that if I don't give them them the password for it that I'll never see it again, it's going to get smashed, that he'll send it to on apple and have them give him the password (lol), or send it to his uncle who works on computers to bypass the passwords.
I am moving out and I have the money to buy a new one if need be but I don't see the point in buying a new one if I have one that works perfectly... However at th same time I stand up for what I believe in and because they never asked once nicely for the computers password and have made these threats I put up the lost MacBook password through find my mac so now there's two.... Is there any way they'll be able to get through it if they send it to someone who "works" on computers.

It is very user friendly, just read each step and follow directions
At this point you should start over.   Connect via cable to the computer (turn off wifi) Use iTunes to restore to factory settings and content.
Then start the set up as a new device again.
Pay close attention so you select English.
Select NO PASSCODE, it will question this, select no passcode again.
If you want a passcode, set it up afterwards and carefully enter and record it.

  • Macbook Pro Password not working after crash!

I have a 2012 Macbook Pro and I installed Mavericks late last year. Last night Mavericks crashed while I was working on Excel. I restarted the system but now the password would not let me log in.
After some searching on google, I tried the resetart with CMD+R and Utility option to reset the password, using Terminal for the User (only 1 user on the system), but its still not working. Then I changed the system administrator (root) password change as well, to no avail. I have reset the password 3 times and have tried blank as an attempt and as a password.
Nothing seems to be helping. Please help!!!

  • Forgot macbook pro password and locked out :(

I for got ny mac book pro password my charger broke at the bringing off summer and just got a new one and I have no idea what the password is. ive tried (comman r) or when holding down the option key the recovery arrow doesn't show up.

Resetting User Password in Lion, Mountain Lion & Mavericks
Boot into your Recovery Partition by holding down the Command and R keys whilst booting.
When the Recovery screen appears, go to the Utilities menu and open Terminal.
    In Terminal, type:
    resetpassword
...a small app will open and allow you to choose the user for whom you want to change the password. If you are the admin, be certain that you choose your admin user. Type in your new password twice and give yourself a good hint. Click OK (or Done or whatever) and reboot, enjoying the use of your new, hopefully memorable, password.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Forgot my macbook pro password

Cant log in my macbook what do I do?

Which version of OS X are you running? If Lion or Mountain Lion, simply startup while holding down the Command and R keys. This will take you to your Recovery partition. Under the Utilities menu, select Terminal and type in:
    resetpassword
A small app will open allowing you to select the user for whom you want to change the password. Enter the new password and reboot.

  • I don't know my MacBook Pro password! Help!

    I don't know my Pro's password!! Help!

Hold “Option” at boot and select the “Recovery” disk at the boot menu
Wait for “Mac OS X Utilities” menu to appear, indicating that you are booted into recovery mode
Click on the “Utilities” menu and select “Terminal”
    Type the following:
resetpasswordConfirm the user account and then the password change and reboot Mac OS X 10.7 as usual with your new password
This replaces the “Reset Password” menu item that used to be in place prior to OS X 10.7, which was one of two original methods of resetting a Mac OS X 10.6 or prior password. Why the change to the Terminal method? Probably for increased security now that recovery partitions are standard with Lion.

  • Forgotten MacBook Pro problems

I've forgotten my MacBook Pro password and when I try recovering it from that MacBookPro using my AppleID it keeps telling me I have an incorrect password.
Even after changing my AppleID password, it still gives me the same problem.
I am not currently at home, and I'm not connected to wifi, and I need the problem fixed before I get home.
    Any solutions?

  • Can anyone help.  For security reasons I reset my admin password on my Macbook Pro a few days ago and didn't write it down.  Now I've forgotten it.  I didnt receive an installation disc when I purchased my Macbook Pro online - it didn't come with one-help

Please see question above, but also note, I have the Applecare Protection Plan but am unable to get through to anyone on a weekend and I desperately need to use my laptop this weekend.  I can't log in at all now as I've forgotten my admin password.  A few weeks ago I also changed the password on my husband's new MacBook Pro and again forgot the password.  I spoke to someone at Apple and they helped me to reset it within minutes, by restarting the computer holding Command+something else (I can't remember what it was). A black screen with writing came up and I had to type in something like "password" (not sure exactly).  Anyway, this was a very quick and efficient process but I didn't write it down unfortunately.  Does anyone out there know what to do?  Thanks in anticipation

  • How to get my apple I'd off a macbook pro with having to giv my I'd and password away

I had sold my macbook pro to someone and they say they can't update the computer without my I'd, the problem I am confused about Is when ii gave him the computer I already restore the computer to not need my apple I'd, is there anything he can do without me needed to give h my Id anddd password so he can update

When you sell a MacBook Pro, you need to give them the original OS that was installed on it when it shipped from Apple.  Any upgrades you purchased from teh Mac App Store (even the free "purchase" of Mavericks) is tied to your Apple ID.    You would need to restore the Mac to the original OS, then let the buyer upgrade the OS themselves.
