Macbook Pro randomly sleeps or dies
I have a mid 2012 Macbook Pro Retina 2.3 GHz
The problem:
While using my macbook, the screen will randomly go blank like its gone to sleep. I then press the power button and get the red and black dead battery symbol on the screen. I plug in the charger and it comes back on normally but the battery will not be dead - its normally on between (25%-35%).
I have given my Macbook Pro into an Apple Store and an Authorised Repair Centre. Both of them refused to do anything because they couldn't replicate the problem. The Apple store ran a system health check in front of me and everything returned normal including the battery. I tried to explain that it happens randomly with no specific application running. It has happened most times when I'm browsing the internet using Chrome so I switched to safari and it still happened and once it happened when playing Football Manager 2015.
I have tried a clean install of OS X and resetting the SMC and PRAM, but none have made a difference. The problem occurred on both Mavericks and Yosemite.
(I still have my extended apple care.)
Any solutions?
Thanks
Really? Badluck with MacKeeper I take it?
The Apple Tech said my battery shouldn't be bad and should have around 1,000 cycles left. Should I go ahead and replace it if it isn't registering?

Serious problems waking up my MacBook Pro from sleep mode
I have quite frequent problems waking my MacBook Pro from sleep mode - often it results in either a black or a totally scrambled screen and only a hard reset will cure the problem (for this time). I have tried to pinpoint whether a certain program that I use last before putting the computer to sleep is responsible, but all attempts so far have failed. The error seems random, but is very annoying since one in about three or four wake-up actions are affected!
I use Parallels Desktop during the day running Windows XP, and in the evenings I use mainly Safari and Mail under OSX. The only other program always open is Mori - a notes/information management tool.
Anyone with similar problems? Any advice??
Cheers,
-J
MacBook Pro 15 Mac OS X (10.4.8)Hello,
I was browsing the 'downloads' section of the Apple support page and I saw a firmware update that might help you out.
It is called the "MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.2" and it is supposed to fix "several Boot Camp, start up, and wake-from-sleep issues on MacBook Pro computers."
The web address is ( http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macbookproefifirmwareupdate12.html )
If that doesn't fix it call Apple care.
Good Luck.
Mac Book Pro 2.33 GHz 15" Mac OS X (10.4.8) -
Is there a way to disable previously viewed iMessages from appearing as Messages notifications when waking my MacBook Pro from sleep? Regardless of whether I am using iMessage from my iPhone or iPad, when I open my MBP, I get attacked by Messages notifications for iMessages I've obviously already seen or responded to. Is there a way to change this? Are others having this issue?
Additionally, previous iMessages sent or received from those devices sometimes don't populate into the Messages window on the MBP. I haven't been able to identify when or what causes this; sometimes it just doesn't seem to work (and I verified that the messages sent/received were, in fact, iMessages and not SMS).
Thanks - any help or insight would be appreciated!First you need to determine what laptop model you have; then we can help you. A Mac Book Pro cannot run OS 9.1.
With your Mac booted up, click on the at the far left of the menu. Then click on About This Mac. It will show what version of OS you are running. What is the version?
A MBP will be running something like version 10.x.
If you are running version OS 9.x, you don't have a Mac Book Pro.
Cheers, Tom -
Put my macbook pro to sleep. When I opened it, the desktop window is small and I can't resize it. All applications now run in the smaller size window. Can't make it fill the screen. Just switched from windows. Thank you.
Check to see if the resolution has been changed in System Preferences.

Is it better to leave your macbook pro in sleep mode during the night or have it shutdown all night?
During sleep, your MacBook consumes a little part of the battery, so it won't harm leaving it in sleep mode. Also, you will be able to start using it quickly, as you don't need to wait until Mac OS X turns on.
I only recommend you to turn off the MacBook if you are not going to use it for days in order to save battery, but apart from that, you don't need to turn it off -
Retina Macbook Pro randomly jumps to logon screen without warning
My Retina Macbook Pro randomly jumps to the logon screen while I am using it. When I log back in some programs have stopped running and any unsaved work has gone. It has happened while I am not typing or touching the keyboard or mouse as well.
I have the exact same problem with my Retina MBP. At first I thought it was occurring when I CMD+Tab-ed between apps but I've had it jump to the login screen without even toughing the computer. Very frustrating. Upon login I have to wait for apps to reload and I lose unsaved changes. Anyone have any advice?

The title says it all! After installing the new Mavericks update, I cannot put my MacBook Pro to sleep after a single press of the Power Button like before. Does it have something to do with this update or my MacBook Pro? Or do I have to change something in Settings?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!Send your opinion to Apple.
But remember that there are others.
A moment is a medieval unit of time equal to 1.5 minutes or 1/40 of an hour. This reckoning is derived from the work of Bartholomeus Anglicus, writing in 1240 that each hour was divided into four points, each point into ten moments, each moment into twelve ounces, and each ounce into 47 atoms.
In modern English it usually refers to "a short period of time",[2] the exact length remaining ambiguous. -

My 15" MacBook Pro randomly loses connection to my AirPort Express wi-fi network. I have to switch off wi-fi on my Mac then switch on again to reconnect. Any reason why this random occurrence keeps happening which never happened before? Any solutions and fixes would also be welcomed.
JazzIn the airport utility, you can alter the radio modes... and change the channels from automatic to a manual one.
Hold down the Option key, and click on your wifi icon, it will tell you what channels are currently being used on your OSX. -
My Macbook pro randomly shut off. When i hit the power button, i can hear it start up, but after a click sound, it stops booting up. help?
Hi..
Try Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
If that doesn't help, try Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters
When you post, please tell us which Mac OS X you have installed. Thanks -

Macbook Pro random shut down whilst using battery
My Macbook Pro randomly shuts down whilst using battery power even though their is plenty of charge in the battery.
Any ideas??does it do it when plugged in?
Also it sounds that there's a power failure and causing it to shutdown, I would get it serviced asap, the battery connector might be faulty. -
My MacBook Pro randomly froze during a sync to my iPhone and started making a scratching noise by the power button. I shut it off then turned it back on and it won't take me to the desk tops it will just flash a folder with a question mark in it. What do I do?
You have a HDD problem (hopefully you have a backup). Start with the information on this support article:

Carry MacBook Pro while sleeping mode
Hello should i leave my macbook pro to sleep while i'm carrying this on my bag?
is it safe?I do. Some people say not to, some say its ok, but I did it in grad school and 2+ years later my mac is fine. I would turn it off duering long trips and put it to sleep during short ones.

I've been having this problem recently where my macbook pro randomly resets every now and then. I've never been able to do it whilst in OSX, only in windows. So far its only happened whilst I'm playing games in Windows but even then only a few games that I own.
It happens whilst I'm playing world in conflict, medieval 2 total war but not during oblivion, company of heroes or supreme commander. So I'm not really sure what could be wrong.I am having this problem too. Here are my preliminary thoughts on the problem. When I play Command and Conquer 3, the computer just shuts off. At first, I thought this had to do with the logic board. I had just gotten it replaced via AppleCare. So I read my console log and the computer shuts off ecause of "high mem tramps".
Because of this, then i thought it was my ram modules being bad. (I have Apple supplied ram. 2 gigs matched pair.) So i took the ram modules out. ran them individually, switched them. Still random shutdowns.
So then i tried to localize my problem with my external peripherals. I have a 250 gb lacie external hard drive triple interface as well as a 750 gb western digital mybook external hard drive pro edition.
I think this is where the problem lies. i've localized my problem to my WD MyBook Pro Edition II 750 gb hard drive. When I have it connected to my computer, I can't run anything that requires any strain on my graphics card. However, when I disconnect it from the computer, I can run things completely fine.
Having said this, I'm not sure if this is exactly my problem. If anyone else wants to weigh in on this discussion, PLEASE HELP!!!
NOTE: My computer resets when i try to run the itunes visualizer. I also have the itunes music folder set to my mybook hard drive.
