MacBook Pro repair has caused more issuses

So last week my late 2011 MacBook Pros USBs stopped working (yes both) so I rang apple and I had one day left in warranty (technically 2) I was told my only options were 1) Bring it to an authorized repair center a bit over an hour away or 2) pay €250 for applecare so they could send a courier to pick it up and send it back fixed, I thought this seemed a bit unfair as I was still in warranty but as I couldn't afford to pay up I decided to go with the repair center (This meant a total 4 hours driving ).
So I got it back today with a new logic board... Yay a working useable MacBook again right? WRONG!! I'm unable to use the USB ports anything I plug in except a wireless Microsoft mouse gives me I never got that message before today.
Plus I'm getting lots of random kernel panics, I did some googling and found it appears to be the RAM so I put in an 8GB upgrade I bought and it still does it so it cannot be the RAM two sets can't be bad like that.
I've reset SMC, PRAM, and run the long apple hardware test with no problems and still get the same message above and kernel panics.
What's my next move? I cant afford (its to late now anyway) applecare or to keep driving 4 hours for repair work that causes more problems...

Call Apple and explain. You now have a warranty on the logic board. perhaps now they send you a shipping box to send it in. I assume when you accepted it at the Apple store you checked it out and made sure it was working properly.

    yes.
"For instance If you have a MacBook (13-inch Late 2009) that normally uses a 60W adapter, you can also use an 85W adapter with that computer. You would not use a 45W adapter with that computer; it would not provide enough power for that MacBook. Using an adapter of higher wattage than the adapter that came with the computer will not cause the computer to charge more quickly or otherwise operate any differently than using the adapter that came with the computer. No eSATA to USB. Just a SATA/IDE to USB adapter. Google SATA/IDE to USB adapter and you will get tons of links to buy them. Most likely your local computer electronics store has them, although they might be more expensive buying locally than online.
I have several. You can get either USB 2, which what I recommend, or USB 3. USB is backward compatible so a USB 3 adapter will work on a USB 2 port and a USB 2 adapter will work on a USB 3 port. Backward compatible in both directions.
I suggest a USB 2 type because there have been some problems with certain USB 3 devices, the USB 3 interface used isn't all that good in those certain devices. USB 3 is still fairly new where as USB 2 has been around for over 10 years.

I have a MacBook pro that has power issues and will not start but the hardrive is fine.  I do not want to lose all of my files so I was wondering if it's possible to transfer my hardrive from a older Macbook pro to a new one if I were to purchase a new one?  Also, the software is not updated as the computer hasn't worked for about 2 months.
Also, if it is possible to transfer the hardrive, would my iTunes music transfer as well?  It is not saved in the cloud.
Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated.

You computer is probably perfectly repairable, but if you want a new one anyway, it is perfectly possible to transfer the data from the faulty one.
But it would be a mistake to simply put the old HD in the new computer.
    These are the steps:
Remove Hard drive from faulty computer. (very easy on Unibody MBPs, do-able but not so easy on older MBPs)
Put it in a cheap enclosure
    Connect it the new computer
    Boot up new computer.
If the new computer has never been run before the Setup Assistant will ask if you want to import your apps, data, settings etc from either another mac, another HD connected to the Mac or a Time Machine back up.
Obviously chose the second option (another HD connected to this Mac) and follow prompts.
If the new computer has already been run (so Setup Assistant doesn't run when you boot it up), you will need to use Migration Assistant...or run the installer again so that Setup Assistant runs again.

Create a new admin account named repair and only give them the password for that account. Alternately you could back up or clone your system, erase the hard drive and then reinstall OS X with one admin account that has no personal information.

Guys, i am actually trying using a solution provided by the article shared by dominic23,
It says "Another option is to get an ionizer to help the atmosphere in the workplace be more conductive and pull charges away from contact surfaces, including yourself."
So in my home, we have such device that could clean the air using ion, and i am using it in my room...
Result: BANG!!! The electric shock on my macbook has gone!! I don't really care about physics but somehow it works! You guys should give it a try.
    Thanks again dominic23

  • My macbook pro Retina has got a burn-in issue.

My macbook pro Retina has got a burn-in issue. The device is out of warranty. I reset PRAM but it didn't help.

As per with any computer, a very basic rule of thumb... The more ram. The higher processor speed... The faster and more efficient your machine will be.  And since processor upgrades are relatively difficult to do if you're not familiar with the hardware... Then I'd go with a ram upgrade (ie getting more assuming you're not already maxed out)
But shy of any of that, just clean up.  Any photo albums, videos, documents you dont need or use anymore.. back them up ten delete them.  The same thing with extra apps or programs.  Think of it his way, the heavier your backpack gets, the slower you're going to walk.  Lighten the backpack, the easier and faster you can walk.  So start by cleaning house.  (personally I'm a big fn of or matting and re-installing everything every now and again.  It may be overkill, but it's one of the best ways to clean.
Start with the free and easy.  If you don't get results that you like then go on to some options that have a price tag

I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro which has been running slow for a while. After looking at responses to similar problems I have downloaded and run EtreCheck. Please can someone help me with what it all means.
    Thanks in advance.

The firmware update corrects an error that may occur, however the techs would have checked the condition of the battery prior to installing a new one.  If the battery was questionable, the firmware update was really not too important.
You can check the battery condition by going to the apple, left side of the menu bar, About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Power and see what it says about Cycle Count, Condition, Capacity: Condition anything but Normal needs to be checked and may need to be replaced.
The cycle count of 1,000 charge cycles is the typical life of a Lithium-Ion battery, the point at which the capacity drops to 80% of the as built capacity.

I have a 4yo MacBook Pro that has a super-old version of Microsoft Word ('04?).  When I try to open a Word document, a note pops up saying that PowerPC apps are no longer supported.  How do I change my default document opener to Pages?

Can I safely send the Word Office icons and anything else related to it that shows up in spotlight to the trash?
You mean for Office apps? That, I don't know for sure as I don't use MS Office on my Mac. I would check to see if there is some sort of MS Office uninstaller that needs to be run before dragging the icons to Trash. Either from one of the Office apps Help or About or search the Internet for a solution.
EDIT: A quick Google search found this link which may help you.
