Macbook Pro (Retina) 13, screen very blue

Hi all,
I'm on my 3rd Macbook Pro screen, the first suffered an issue where the black coating (around the edge) started to rub off, the second had LCD Mura and IR issues.. So I was happy to finally get a 3rd replacement..
The problem is - this one is very blue. I'm normally connected to 2 additional monitors. Previously with the last 2 screens, theres always been _some_ different in colour reproduction (as you would expect), however now its incredibly different.
The MBP screen is very blue (probably around 8000k white balance, with much less contrast), compared to the 2 monitors, which now look very yellow in comparison!
I've tried calibrating the screen with little success, its almost as if its lacking a colour or signal, however it seems to be displaying most colours successfully...I've heard of these screens being occasionally yellow, but this is really the other extreme...
Any thoughts on this? Could it be my colour profile is based on the factory screen? Is there any suggestion to solve this (just to be clear - calibration makes some difference but doesnt solve the problem).

Reset PRAM, not done SMC yet, but I'm not sure how this would effect it.
Could be the cable, but again, I'd expect a colour or something to be missing, rather than just 'dull'. Ultimately the display is still displaying every colour, it just appears blue and washed out...

Macbook Pro Retina 13" Gets Very Hot

Hi, I noticed my Macbook Pro Retina 13" gets very hot after 30 minutes of usage, practically "burning" on my thigh (it left burning mark a few times actually, especially in the summer). I usually put a book between the laptop and me to prevent the heat. Is there a better way?

What are you doing on your MacBook when it gets hot? I have a retina and it gets hot when I play games like Team Fortress 2 or Garry's Mod, watching videos on youtube, and using the iTunes visualizer. What's odd is it doesn't get hot when I watch movies on iTunes. If it's getting hot just sitting around, you may have a problem that needs to be check out as soon as possible. I had a 13" mid 2012 non-retina pro that had three logic boards replaced in less than a year of purchase. Every time the board was failing, it would freeze sometime after it was put to sleep and it would get really hot and the fan would be screaming trying to keep up. Then it would freeze as I'm using it. The screen would flash pixels of all colors in random spots all around the screen. If Apple didn't cover the repairs, I would have paid $530 per repair.

You can try using Screen Sharing in the Sharing preferences. Or try a third-party utility such as ScreenRecycler.

From what you describe, the computer is going to sleep.
Have you restarted and reset the SMC?

MacBook Pro Retina 13" fan very loud/overheats when playing full screen video/games

Hi,
Just purchased a MacBook Pro Retina, refurbished (because why not - the same product for a cheaper price) around a month ago. It's the 13 inch and is the model before the most recent one came out (4GB of RAM instead of 8GB - late 2013). From the very first day, playing a full-screen video on any site (be it YouTube, Facebook, etc) just makes the fan much louder than usual (so loud that you can almost hear it more over the video itself). Thought it may have been just a thing with Flash Player being buggy, but the problem has persisted for a while now. I'm not even pushing the CPU to any limits - literally playing a full-screen video on Facebook (not even in HD) makes the fan go crazy.
Just last night I tried installing Borderlands 2 and it was the same thing - FPS rate was fine, no lag, just the fan was so loud that I actually got scared for my computer and turned it off. After closing the app and checking out the fan temperature, it was at 91c.
Never happens when browsing/surfing or doing my usual work.
Should I go give it back to Apple? The thing is I start university in less than a week (and hence will be traveling), so not sure if I can afford to give my laptop in to them for a long period of time (I know it should be free though since mine is a refurb item). May it just be an issue that is quickly repairable or is this worse?

Small dent on Macbook Pro Retina display screen.

I'm looking for anyone else that has had this problem, ways to either fix it or just what to expect from the Apple Store when I go in. If it has happened to me twice, I feel it can't be too rare. Perhaps just to doccument it as well.
I've had my 15" Macbook Pro with Retina display for 6 months now and other than the screen, I've enjoyed it very much.
Two weeks into having the new computer I found what I thought was a dead pixel (two inches right then two inches up from center) and brought it in. I'd read about such things online and the LG/Samsung debacle but really just wanted my new computer to stay nice and new.
When I got into the store, they told me it was really just a dent in the screen from when dust or something got trapped between the screen and keyboard when it was closed. I thought to myself "Hey, my office is in the basement, maybe something fell down from the bare ceiling and it could have happened." Although I find myself taking very good care of the computer.
They replaced the screen for me under warranty and I instantly went out and got a case, screen cleaner that came with a fine brush to wipe they keyboard off with and a nifty microfiber cloth. Ever since then I've been afraid to close my Macbook Pro and rarely do so. I even asked them what I could do to prevent such things in the future. I was specifically told there wasn't much I could do other than try to ensure it didn't close on any dust. There was no product that would help and they recommended I didn't get a screen protector because it might damage a screen as well. For a laptop it seemed very impractical, but what else was I really supposed to do other than use it as a desktop?
Since then I've moved and no longer work in a basement. Two days ago I noticed the exact same thing appear in very nearly the exact same spot (I didn't document it the first time so I can't be perfectly sure but definitely the ball park of a square cm). I live a ways from an apple store but am visiting home in a week and based off my own experience and others that I have read, they'll replace the screen. I just wanted to esure they had the part since I'll only be in town for the weekend. Apple care had given me a case number and the number of the store, I called to arrange a genius appointment and try to see if they had the part, or at least if they could order it now.
The first man I got on the phone initially said "I don't know why they keep having people call here, let me get a technician for you." A few minutes on hold and I got a woman who claimed very matter of fact "That damage isn't covered, you'll have to pay for the replacement. I just want you to know what to expect when you walk in the store."
This is the same store I had gone to before where they had replaced it without question, I just wanted to try and line everything up before making the trip and having to explain it all when I arrived. I just wish they'd have a plan set out rather than it being up to individual employees.
What can I do to fix this screen? I got this computer based off all the video and photo editing I do and notice it instantly.
Side note, this isn't the same machine that did it before either. When I got my computer back from repair, they had forgotten to plug in the part that has the backlit keyboard. Then when that was fixed, the right side USB didn't function.
The Macbook also had image "ghosting" or retention issues. I hear that can be fixed via software though rather than being just hardware? I don't notice that as much as the little dent however. My display is LP154WT1-SJA1.

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) and just noticed this today in a similar location - from center, mine is about two inches right and one inch up. I thought it was a dead pixel after cleaning it and then realized it was a little dent. The location, when the notebook is closed, corresponds to the flat area between the Command key and Trackpad.
I take very good care of my MacBook and there are certainly no rocks on my keyboard when I close the lid! The screen stands off the keyboard when closed due to the raised trim so this should not have been the cause. I can't think of any other way this might have happened in my situation, though I guess anything is possible.
The effects of this dent are quite visible now in certain circumstances - on a dark background it looks like a little clump of stuck, lit pixels and on a light background it looks like a clump of dead pixels. Too bad, since I bought this, my first Mac, partly for its amazing screen.

Macbook Pro Retina's screen with a lot of issues (big vertical lines)

I discovered recently that my MacBook Pro Retina have a lot of strange verticales lines on the screen.
Not visible in current usage, but when I switch to dashboard and his black background sreen I can clearly see those issues.
Anyone get this problem?
Have to change my computer?

I would certainly take it into an Apple Store and, if you can reproduce the problem for them, insist that it be fixed. If you're within your 14-day grace period, you can exchange your unit for another, no questions asked.

Late 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 15" screen brightness is dull?

I winder if someone can help me with a issue regarding my machine.
I have recently had my early 2013 Macbook Pro retina replaced with the late 2013 model and found that the screen brightness at maximum is (or appears) to be somewhat less?
Can any anyone help?

The low-end 15” rMBP with a 8 GB or RAM and a 256 GB SSD costs $2,000.
The low-end 15” rMBP with a 8 GB or RAM and a 512 GB SSD costs $2,300.
With 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD it costs $2,500.
The high-end 15” rMBP with a 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD costs $2,600.
All cost $500 dollars more with a 1 TB SSD.
So the SSD size is not a differentiating factor unless you prefer 256 GB.
If you think you need 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD then you might as well spend the extra $100 for the high-end model.
The high-end model will make a difference on gaming and graphics-oriented applications.
They tend to run other applications at about the same speed.
Both models are rated with 8 hours of battery life.

Macbook Pro Retina 15" Getting Very Hot

My macbook pro retina display 15 inch intel i7, 512gb flash hard drive 16 gb computer is getting hot. When playing a simple flash game like pocket planes (not in fullscreen), and without the battery plugged in, the computer gets to 64 degrees celsius, and the area near the battery plug location gets extremely hot to the touch. While playing youtube videos and such, the computer also gets hot, but generally reaches around 48 degrees, and it will not cool further. Is this normal? I just bought it 3 days ago and the salesperson told me that it would not get as hot as the 13 inch late 2012 macbook pro. Any ideas? Because it is very similar as heat, even though the older model was hotter.

I have the similar issue on my MBP 15" 2012. The top left corner area gets very hot after watch video for a little while.
I think it's the video card that is overheated. My current solution is to use a laptop cooler underneath my MBP. It does help reduce the lock ups in daily uses.
Does any one know how to fix it?

first half year, when editing high resloutoin images in photoshop, **** will glich big time (image below)
and after one yr, the whole screen start glitching randomly like ****,
it happens at least 3 times per day now ( im a graphic designer, usage approx. 17 hrs per day)

You should take your machine back to your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them fix the screen. It may be a screen problem, a GPU problem or a cable problem. They can test and give you a 'cure.'

MacBook Pro (retina display)screen going black after some time.

Hi, I bought my macbook pro 13" (retina display) a week ago. I haven't configured the screen saver yet but today when I was using the apple tv to watch a movie already on my macbook hard disk the screen went black but when I touched the trackpad it came back but the Airplay would get disconnted.

Set the display to not sleep when watching movies.
Open System Preferences > Energy Saver

MacBook Pro Retina Black Screens and Becomes Unresponsive

I've been having issues with my laptop where all of a sudden it would black screen and become unresponsive. Checking the console messages I see a lot of records referring to "AppleVTD: waiting space". This seems to be a reoccuring problem. I've already repaired my disk once and now it's happening again, I've ran the disk utility and it is telling me that my hard drive needs repairs again.

I got about a hundred lines within that same error within that second
Witin the next 2 minutes I was able to reboot and it is running, for now. I'll be doing another round of disk repair, but this isn't sustainable. Can anybody elp me in identifying the root cause of these issues?

and then my entire system freezes. This has been happening at least once daily, and it's killing my productivity.
Have you figured out what was going on?
And, are you running any virtualization software, like Parallels?
Anyone out there know what's going on? I'm pretty desperate here...

The Screen has been kept on perfect condition at all time, and the Macbook pro has been kept in perfect condition and i sincerely i don't know why this is happening, and the worse thing is that the problem is getting worse. The problem has started 4 months ago and is getting worse, I Hope someone could help me.

Macbook Pro Retina "broken" screen loose

My MBP Retina screen i loose in the left corner, when i'm opening the computer its not like a flow but just like when you are changing gear on your cycle. I don't know what i shall do?

You shall carefully pack the device and march straight to the nearest Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.
Retinas are sealed systems and only they have the tools needed for repairs. Using it like that can lead to screen cracking, which will not be covered by warranty and get your wallet in a world of hurt.

HT5019 Macbook Pro Retina dual screen?

I'm currently looking at external monitor solutions for my MBPr. When i'm at my desk, a single 15" screen just isn't enough real estate.
Does anyone know if you can use dual external monitors on the MBPr? I don't want them both to be mirrors, I'd like to have the extended desktop. Is this possible, and if so, what is required? Both monitors would be HDMI

Vegita, not necessarily... You can easily revert a Mac to its factory defaults with little to no work, so I'd say go ahead and play.
