Macbook Pro Retina 13 with Yosemite Slow Shutdown
Hi everybody,
My rMBP now takes 30 seconds to shutdown. When I click to shutdown It presents the black screen with the wheel.
I never installed the parallels and I already did a snapshot with AdwareMedic:

Hi Alex,
Thank you very much for your reply. :-)
Actually, I had already checked the alternatives online and the Macbook Pro 13'' is only available with a dual-core processor. No possibility to order it with a quad-core processor. That's why I was wondering if a change/update of the processor can be made afterwards.
Thank you,

Windows 7 professional 64 Bit on MacBook Pro Retina 15 with Boot Camp ?
Hallo guys, i have a big problem with installing Windows 7 professional 64 Bit on my MacBook Pro Retina 15 with Boot Camp. No matter what i try i get a black screen after partitioning or get a message like " No bootable disk" or " No System Disk availabe".
My Mac has : OS X version 10.8.2, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB memory, 2.6 GHz Intel i7 and is only a week old
My Boot Camp is version 5.0.1
My Windows InstallingDVD is one year old now, i needed it to build a PC last year, hope that doesnt make a difference, its a full version, so not just for upgrading.
From what i saw in the apple support it should work on my macbook. I hope someone can help me.
Thanks in advance.Ok, problem solved. I looked a bit more here in the questions and there was the answer and its quite simple.
Somehow an USB-stick makes problems while Windows wants to install, i dont know why. So i just made everything over DVDs and now everything works fine. -
Hello,
I'm completely new to the mac world but I'm fed up with pc's and all the insanity with processor problems, viruses, etc. I'm seriously looking at replacing my HP laptop with the new MacBook Pro Retina 13 with 2.4GHz dual core i5 processor, 4GB memory (RAM) & 128GB flash storage, OS X Mavericks (not sure which version). My concern is whether this will be reliably & consistantly fast & smooth both in desktop apps & internet use. I don't need it to do somersaults or anything too advanced. I would mostly be using Pages & spreadsheet apps & internet. It would double as my daughter's computer for cyber school so it's crucial that it runs quickly & efficiently. If she can't complete everything on time or log in to her online sessions because of a computer issue we'll be up a creek without a paddle since this particular cyber school's tech department is still working off of pc's running Windows XP. My father, thus far a pc user, thought I should consider moving up to 8GB memory but I was hoping that with flash storage being faster, I would be able to avoid the extra $100 for the upgrade to 8GB. My biggest fear is finding myself as frustrated & angry as I am now with all of my pc's, ready to take a sledge hammer to them because they take forever to boot, launch apps, internet or do just about anything (that is if they're even fuctioning at all- not joking). Does anyone have any advice or input? Thanks!!
P.s. On Apple's site I found a refurbished late 2013 model of the MacBook Pro Retina 13 with all of the same specs as listed above (4GB, not 8GB), running OS X (doesn't say which one) but for a bit less than a brand new one. Is this the same model as what they're currently selling new in their store or did they just upgrade everything to match what is being offered in the current "new" model? I realize this may be a dumb question but I can't seem to find anything online indicated that Apple has released a model newer than what was released late last year (October 2013, I believe), except that the model released then came with SSD storage instead of flash. No computer is fault free but Apple MBPs have a good track record. In those cases where problems do arise, Apple has the best support in the industry.
A MBP with 4 GB RAM with the SSD storage should be adequate for your needs.

The latest MBP models came out in October 2013, so it will be the same, with the same warranty and telephone support. The difference will be that the price will be less and it will be delivered in a plain white box.
I have purchased three MBPs from the refurbished section. I have never been able to detect any cosmetic differences and will go that route again.

Macbook pro retina late 2013 yosemite 10.10.2 wifi bluetooth both turned on same thing for apple tv a1469 and there isn't any network or internet connection. Macbook pro can see apple tv as a mirroring device but cannot connect to apple tv a1469. There is a connection failed or the screen code is wrong message appears but no peer to peer airplay between macbook pro retina and apple tv a1469. On the ios side everything just works except sometimes there is no audio problem (when switching between different apps) between ios and apple tv but on the screen mirroring side everything looks ok. Where can I get a MacBook Pro retina 13 with Arabic/English keyboard.?
Where can I get a MacBook Pro retina 13 with Arabic/English keyboard.?
you have to go to Apple store online then you'll have to go to customize your MacBook Pro, there you choose Arabic keyboard, and it'll automatically contains both languages English and Arabic....... because the Latin letters must have for any computer to be used on email's website and etc. etc.

I found another solution to change the keys of keyboard one by one, but I dont want to do it myself. I may destroy it. Any solution?Cancel your order and re-order one with the desired KB

Macbook pro retina 15 with win 7 in boot camp in games becomes hot and low graphics
hi i have macbook pro retina 15 and i installed win 7 with boot camp but when i want play games the first 2 minutes is good but the next minutes the macbook becomes very hot and graphics going very low i tried osx 10.8 but still not working. i tried command option shift power when mac is plugged in and off but still not working
does any one know solution of this problem??
<Edited by Host>Hi All,
I tried this and it improved my FPS in games yesterday, still not getting FPS I would desire, but its become playable.
Repasted here from another thread:
My retina MacBook Pro has had terrible graphics performance problems for a couple of weeks. I searched all over various forums and tried everything: resetting SCM, manually selecting discrete/integrated graphics card, deleting graphics kexts, etc. Nothing helped until I found this: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19880198#19880198
Now my rMBP has silky smooth graphics again!
The directions in that post are a little hard to understand so I cleaned them up here:
Step 1: Delete system windowserver preferences
In the Finder, from the menu bar, select "Go -> Go to Folder..."
Enter: /Library/Preferences/
Delete the file called com.apple.windowserver.plist
Step 2: Delete user windowserver preferences
In the Finder, from the menu bar, select "Go -> Go to Folder..."
Enter: ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/
Delete all files that start with com.apple.windowserver (On my rMBP, there was one file called com.apple.windowserver.12AFB147-95D6-5C70-8F62-C1E4F2BE81BE)
Step 3: Reset the PRAM (These instructions are from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379)
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
Hopefully this helps others with bad graphics performance on retina MacBook Pros.
For anyone that wants to check out the problematic plists from my rMBP, here are the files:

Macbook Pro Retina crashes with thunderbolt display
Whenver I plug the thunderbolt display into my macbook pro retina both displays black out and the computer becomes semi-unrespsonsive (ie I can hear the volume controls however that is all. I need to force shutdown.
I've noticed this problem happening since I installed xQuark (X11) a week ago, I have since removed it and any traces of it but the problem seems to have become worse.

com.apple.kec.pthread 1Hi there ericdi,
It looks like you are experiencing persistent kernel panics. You may find the troubleshooting steps toward the bottom of the article below helpful. Please keep in mind, diagnosing a recurring kernel panic can be difficult. If you would like to avoid this process, or do not know how to perform any of the following steps, consider bringing the Mac to a Genius at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for assistance. Be sure to ask that, if the drive needs reformatting or replacing, they contact you about escalating your case to a special data recovery service. If you plan to visit an Apple Retail store, make a reservation at the Genius Bar using http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ (available in some countries only).

MacBook Pro Retina display with scratch/crack in the glass
Hi,
Can it be real, that on my new MacBook Pro Retina display I have a little scratch/crack in the glass out of the box?
You can only see it if you have light (e.g withe) background on the display.
I hope Apple Care will replace it.
Does anybody else have the same issue?
Regards,
JOWhen I bought my iMac and took it home and set it up, I was cleaning the screen and noticed what looked like smears on the inside of the glass. I took a picture of it with my iphone and went back to the apple store. Of course the genuis could not see it in the brightly lit store, so I showed her the picture. I also took a little flash light with me and she was then able to see the marks. She thought they looked like fingerprints under the glass. They swapped out the iMac right there for a new one.

I took my MacBook Pro Retina 2.6GHz i7 to the genius bar to have the headphone jack looked at. I was told they could easily fix it but had to order the part. That day I took it home and returned to the store once I was notified that the part arrived so I could drop it off for repair. 3 days after I dropped my computer off with the genius bar I missed a phone call and returned to my iphone with a new voicemail. It said something like this, "Hello Tim, I just wanted to let you know that we replaced the headphone jack but it turned out not to be the problem and the problem was actually with the logic board. Don't worry though, we went ahead and replaced that for you, however, after that was done, the speakers stopped working but the headphone jack is fixed. We have to order new speakers to put in your computer b/c we don't have those on hand either."
Long story short, they fixed the speakers but, "had to order another part to repair the USB port." So I am waiting for that to be repaired but the dang AC Power to the actual computer does not work now!!! It's not the magsafe 2 charger that I have or the outlets I tried it in b/c I tried multiple chargers and multiple outlets. I am very frustrated! I have been without my computer for almost 2 weeks and still have to take it in at least twice more to get the power working this weekend and then again next week to (hopefully) get the USB port working.
At what point should I ask for a new computer or a refund? I have been using Apple Computers my whole life, I have had 8 different mac laptop models and have not had a problem until this computer. I am very frustrated with the support I have received from Apple as a whole.Contact Apple Customer Relations and let them know that you're not happy. With the logic board replacement, everything else should have been evaluated and fixed at the same time. It sounds as if you just got a lemon. You could plead your case for a replacement unit, I would think, since your machine is being 'replaced' piecemeal...
Good luck,

Macbook Pro Retina trouble with projector after using Thunderbolt display
I used my macbook Pro Retina with my Thunderbolt to VGA adapter all through the fall, and never had any trouble with it. Just before Christmas I got a Thunderbolt display.
Since that time, whenever I connect the projector, I get a black screen. I can see and move the mouse, but nothing else. Other computers still work with the projector.
I'm not certain if the Thunderbolt Display has anything to do with this or not, but it's just the timing that it happened.
Grateful for anyone that can offer help!It might be that the Thunderbolt output is set to the resolution of the Thunderbolt display, which the VGA adapter probably cannot display correctly. You can toggle between the video display modes using Command-F1... This will toggle the output between Mirroring and Extended Desktop. Using Command-F2 will allow you to attempt to detect displays. It might auto reset to the correct resolution using Command-F2. If you can get the VGA out to display using extending desktop then you can change the resolution to work properly with the VGA projector.

Macbook Pro Retina 15 with defect
I bought a newest model of Macbook Pro Retina 15 at Bestbuy the day before yesterday.
But when I open the box, one of the screw has fallen from the body and it has a small dent at the bottom.
So I went to Bestbuy and asked them if I can exchange it into the other one but the manager didn't want to do that.
What should I do?
Please help me!!This happens from time to time. If for what ever reason the model you ordered is not readily available, a 'better' one will be substituted. Do not be concerned. The only thing you have to do is enjoy your 'improved' MBP.

SMC Update 1.1 Macbook Pro Retina 15" with Bootcamp Win 7 FPS in Games
I have the 15" Retina Macbook Pro, and I have definitely had issues with framerate in games played on bootcamp windows 7. The game I am testing fps is Rift. I noticed when plugged in, the fps drops significantly compared to when it is not plugged in (on battery.) Running on ultra video settings at 1920 x 1080, when plugged in I am getting between 7 to 15 fps after about 3 minutes of sustained use. When unplugged however I get a sustained 34+ fps.
I installed the two new updates ( OSx 10.8.3 and MBPr SMC Update 1.1 ) in the hopes they would resolve my issue. However I am seeing the same fps problems as before.
Additionally while running the game the fan spins like crazy at all times and the power cord gets quite warm. Upon quitting the game, the fan continues to spin wildly with no end.
Can anyone else reproduce these observations? I had an open ticket with Apple to fix this prior to the update on my machine. I was so excited when I saw the release notes to these two updates as it appeared they would directly address my problems. Unfortunately there has been no significant change. Needless to say, my work order shall remain open...Hi All,
I tried this and it improved my FPS in games yesterday, still not getting FPS I would desire, but its become playable.
