Macbook Pro Retina Auto Sleep w/ iPad Air Underneath

I didn't know where to place this thread as I don't know what is causing this phenomenon.
My Macbook Pro Retina went to sleep automatically when I accidently placed it on top of my iPad Air. At the time of this this incident, my caseless Macbook Pro was idle in Windows 7-HP BootCamp with all recommended updates installed. My T-Mo iPad Air Space Gray 32GB was in a black Smart Case. Half of the iPad air was under the MacBook Pro on the lower left with its hinge furthest in. Could this be due to magnetic interference from the iPad/case? This had me worried.

  • MacBook Pro Retina display vs New iPad Retina display?

Why is type fuzzy on a MacBook Pro Retina display and same type not fuzzy on a New iPad?

The MBA battery life is a favorable factor for student use.  I do not think that a fast CPU will be of benefit to you nor will more than the basic RAM that is offered but I disagree on storage.  I would opt for the maximum available.  Why carry an external HDD if can avoid it.
A MBA is compact and easy to transport and perfect in an academic environment.

  • Why won't my Macbook Pro Retina not hook up to Air Play Via Apple TV

So I want to hook up my laptop to the TV. Now Everything is up to date and my model is 2013 computer and the latest addition of the Apple TV Product. I have the top icon on my screen and click on my name, enter my password, but then it says it cannot connect. Now my internet is wireless at a campus, but other kids got it hooked up easy over wireless. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I went into settings trying to get rid of any blocks and home sharing is on, so I am stumped. Please Help!

    Hello again,
I believe the update was: MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.2

  • Started a Pages project on my MacBook Pro, edited it on my iPad Air, went back to MacBook and now can't open it on MacBook. What can I try?

When I try to open it on MacBook it says this:

    Found the answer.
I had not closed/saved what I was working on, on the iPad before the battery died.
I plugged in the iPad, saved/closed the article I was working on and that solved the entire problem.
    It's now working well.

  • Black screen when waking macbook pro retina from sleep. Mavericks

Hi, ever since I updated to Mavericks i've been having this problem when my early 2012 rmbp wakes up from sleep and the screen is black except the time and battery info. When i start moving my mouse around the screen it's still black UNTIL I click and drag on the desktop wallpaper and whatever selection I clicked, my wallpaper will show. In order to actually use the laptop I either have to restart my computer or click and drag all around the computer screen so everything (wallpaper, app icons on dock, apple logo) will show up. Really strange. Not a big problem, but it is really annoying sometimes. Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks, Ryan

well, the sad news is that although there are thousands of people with this issue, Apple is NOT going to recall the computers and fix them. This is particularly bad news for me as I am part of a team that is working with the poor in a devastated area of the Philippines and I cannot afford to get a replacment.
I don't know what I am going to do when my Macbook will not wake up anymore....
If anyone has news or suggestions on how to get help from Apple, please forward it to me

  • Macbook Pro Retina 15 + iPad 3

    Dear forum users,
Usually when I plug in my iPad 3 into the left USB port of my Macbook Pro Retina 15 inch the iPad keeps jumping between connected and disconnected. Weirdly enough this doesn't happen in the right USB port.
It also happens inconsistently, when i plugged in the Apple Keyboard with USB ports it worked fine. When directly plugged in it gives the errors. Sometimes it does work normally but usually I have the problem as mentioned above.
I am using a third party 30-pin connecter cable.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey there evenwerk,
Do the USB connection issues, where your iPad disconnects or isn’t recognized by your MacBook Pro, occur when using the USB cable that came with the device? The article linked below provides a lot of great information and troubleshooting tips that will resolve most issues like this one.

  • I can't be the only one with this issue. MacBook Pro Retina Late-2013 WiFi disconnects after waking up from sleep.

Did anyone buy a MacBook Pro Retina 13" from Best Buy this Black Friday?
I'm having an issue where the WiFi disconnects after the MacBook wakes from sleep but only after a couple of minutes.
Once the WiFi disconnects, I can't reconnect to the same network and sometimes it won't find nearby networks.
I have to turn off the WiFi and wait for at least 5 seconds before turning it back on for it to auto-reconnect to my home network.
If I wait less than 5 seconds, it will continue to attempt connection to the home network but won't connect.
I've tried reformatting and deleting my network configurations as well as resetting my modem, power cycling it, etc.
    I am using 2Wire Gateway modem/router from AT&T on b/g network.
I've tried connecting to a friend's network under Time Warner Cable and the same issue occurs.
I exchanged the MacBook at a Best Buy for a brand unopened one (I hope) and the same exact thing happens with this new one.
Really, I can't be the only one with this issue. Unless in a 0.00001% chance I received two defective units in a row?
Please.. does anyone have a clue why this is happening?

You're definitely not the only one.  I have the same issue.  I spent 6 hours over multiple days on the phone with Apple support trying a variety of things (some of which are mentioned above), and none of them worked.  They finally sent me a replacement laptop.  I made sure to try it periodicaly as I was moving files and installing applications to see if I ran into it again and things seemed okay at first but now I am running into the same issue and it is terribly annoying.  I've got 5 other devices that connect to the same router and I've never had this issue with any of them.
My router is a Linksys E2000.  I haven't tried changing the router channel but I have tried to cnnecting to other networks in the building I live in and I have run into the same issue there.

  • MacBook Pro Retina 15" Auto Power Off

    Hi,
I have "auto power off" issue with my newly bought MacBook Pro Retina 15".
This problem is very annoying, my MacBook Pro just auto power off, where I check the battery is 100% fully charged.
The first encountered was about a month ago, the night I cannot turn on my MacBook Pro at all, the next day I sent it back to Apple Service Centre. The technician open up the bottom part, reset the battery by removing the battery cable, plug it back. Then turn on and perform some diagnosis test.
It was working fine for about 2 weeks, and now the "auto power off" happen everyday.
I have repartition my SSD drive to 2 partitions using BootCamp and installed with Windows 7 x64.
At first, this problem happen when I boot into Windows 7 with BootCamp, at first, I thought this problem is due to Windows Drivers, and I have no choice but purchase Parallels Desktop, to run my Windows with OSX 10.8.2. After the Parallels installed, I upgrade my second partition to run Windows 7 concurrently with OSX, it was running fine on the first day! And I thought it has solve my problems, unfortunately the next day, this problems occurs again.
I suspect this is due to hardward failure, something to do with the battery. Looks like the drivers is telling the Operating System, battery is 0%, and it just turn off itself.
Anyone experience this? Please share your experience or advice what should I do next?
    Regards,
    Dave

Hey Dave. Yes yes yes! Try reading through the thread below. Especially at the end. It has to do with an 'autopoweroff' setting that appears to be new and annoying.
When plugged in, goes from sleep to hibernate after 4 hours of sleep (or 14,400 seconds).
    Very easy to turn off.
This after many hours of research and discussion with no help from the folks at Apple.
Basically, to query the settings (enter this from Terminal):
    pmset -g | grep autopoweroff
You'll see the autopoweroff set to '1' and autopoweroffdelay set to 14400.
To actually turn that 'feature' off:
    sudo pmset -a autopoweroff 0
    (then enter your Mac password)
Now it will just sleep when plugged in and not go into hibernate.
You can also tell the Mac how long before it powers off via the autopoweroffdelay setting (if you like this silly feature), but I just turned the sucker off.
    Here is the thread:

Hopefully, that's the same problem you have, and it will quickly fix it.
    Cheers,
    Bryan...

  • HT5887 Why can't I Airdrop between my iPad Mini and my MacBook Pro Retina?

Has anyone else experienced this INCOMPATIBILITY between Apple devices?

  • MacBook Pro Retina won't wake after after sleeping!

On most occasions after my 13" MacBook Pro Retina  has been put to sleep (by closing lid or pressing Power  button) overnight  it will not wake up again until I have reset the Systems Management Controller.   Opening the lid, or Power button or Space bar still leaves a black screen.
My wife's new 11" MacBook Air suffers similar problems even after our local Apple Store reinstalled Mavericks in an attempt to resolve the problem..
Any thoughts on a solution would be gratefully received - thanks.

  • Macbook Pro Retina 10.8.2 Frozen after returning to sleep and attaching thunderbolt firewire adapter

Hi to all, i'm writing because probably there's a bug on the latest osx 10.8.2 so, could you check that what happens to me is equal to you too?
I've a Macbook Pro Retina from about 2 weeks and in the last 3 days i've seen 2 freeze of the system, i couldn't make anything, only force power off with the power button. After some tests i've noted and isolated the issue, so this is what happens:
    - remove the thunderbolt to firewire adapter (if attached)
    - wait until mac goes to sleep
    - go out of sleep
    - attach the adapter and...
    - system frozen
how i've told the only way to restore is force the mac to power off.
I'll wait your answer and solutions (if there are)
    Thank you
This is the consolle where you can see the issue:
and this is when all works fine:

I'm having this exact behaviour on my 13" Retina MacBook Pro running 10.8.2 when inserting a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter. System freezes hard, have to hold down power button to reset.

  • Macbook Pro Retina Mountain lion freezes after deep sleep

    Hello All,
I am having a strange problem with my MacBook Pro Retina, Mid 2012 (Mountain Lion 10.8.3). Since about January time It keeps crashing after I put it into a deep sleep. After closing the lid - waiting for 1 hour or so - then reopening the lid, i get presented with the normal Apple login screen (breifly) and then it crashes and i get a grey screen saying my mac has had an issue and it needs to restart.
When i log back on i get an error message that I can send onto Apple and then my Mac carries on as normal. Very weird.
I have searched these forums, been into the Apple store, spoken to Apple done hardware diagnostics, reinstalled the OS (worked breifly then stopped working again) - so i assume its one of the programs or bits of hardware that i use (which i have tried to isolate/remove)- but i am still strugling to solve these issues.
It would be great if someone could give me some advice around:
    1. Where I can find these log files/error messages, etc.
    2. Understanding what it is causing this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

The solution is to dump the 100€ mini-display port DVI-D adapter that apple sells and buy a mini-Display to Display-Port cable for 6€. No crashes, no annoying interruption of the display (which I had several times the day for 2 or 3 seconds). There are very short interruptions now, but it is much better than with the apple adapter. The apple adapter needs a USB port, which is not necessary with the simple cable.
As for the monitor: Burn In, otherwise great. The burn in can be erased via monitor menu but should not be there in the first place.
    Hope this helps.

  • Performance of HDS in AIR on Macbook Pro Retina is terrible

    Hi
My client provides online streaming with the technology of Adobe HTTP Dynamic Streaming (protected by FlashAccess). The client is build with Adobe AIR. Recently, we've found the playback performance of HDS on Macbook Pro Retina is terrible. We see choopy all the time during the playback. The same streaming plays well in the browser and other Macbook Pro (non-Retina) computers.
I'm wondering if the latest AIR doesn't support Retina display well. Does anyone know if there is a workaround or when the updated AIR runtime can support Retina display well?
    Thanks.

Could you please open a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com?  Please post back with the URL and I'll also follow up internally.
    Thanks,
