Macbook pro retina haswell 13 lag using (Photoshop)

Hi ALL,
MY macbook pro retina display haswell (13 in) lags while using Adobe Photoshop CC (V 14.1.2 x64). I have no other applications open except photoshop. Is this normal for this model? i was told by apple that photoshop would not lag when editing. I was editing a 4 mb file . Moving the file and using brush causes lag.
Any solution?
Macbook pro retina 13 specs:
Processor  2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory  8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel Iris 1024 MB
Software  OS X 10.9
HDD           256gb ssd

Sorry for the double post, but I can't find an edit button and I recently found a solution to this issue in a discussion on the Photoshop forums.
http://www.versluis.com/2013/08/how-to-fix-brush-lag-in-photoshop-cc/
Basically, Photoshop CC has a setting for how it uses the on board graphics for drawing.
Preferences->Performance->Advanced Settings
Set drawing mode to Basic (the default is Advanced)
Close Photoshop (like really close it -> Command+Q it!)  As a new Mac user, I was confused by this step...  I thought the little red X would close the program.  Luckily a co-worker who was helping me with this issue pointed out that I wasn't actually closing the program.
Restart Photoshop.  This fixed the lag I was experiencing.

  • Macbook Pro Retina 15" is lagging when it shouldn't be

    Problem description:
Macbook Pro 15” Retina is lagging really badly, when it really shouldn’t be. Running Safari, Mail, Calendar, Messages, iTunes, Spotify, uTorrent, and a League of Legends installer. With the 2.0 i7 Quad Core and the 8 GB of RAM, I don’t see why this is happening.

  • Macbook pro retina 2014 13" lag

    Hi guys,
I've recently purchased a new Macbook pro retina 13" 2014 model with 8gb ram and a 256ssd. I have noticed that it lags quite a bit.
When the login spashscreen is displayed with its animation, it lags there (like there isn't a proper graphics card) also when scrolling webpages in chrome, safari and firefox.
The demo I had looked at in the store was all sweet. Is there something i should be looking at? i'm running maverick, will be upgrading to yosimite tomorrow (hopefully)
What would you guys suggest/recommend? Should i be concerned?
    Thank you

    Hello,
I just bought a new Macbook Pro OSX Yosemite this week. Retina, 15 inch, Mid 2014. 2.2 GHz i7. 16GB RAM. 256 GB HD. I've been noticing a lag when I use the trackpad and the bluetooth mighty mouse. It seems to happen completely randomly. If I don't use my computer for a long time and then start to use it again it sometimes lags for a second and then works, and then lags again, and on and on...
Sometimes the lags are 2 seconds long and sometimes they're less than 1 second long. It seems my mouse, trackpad AND keyboard are all affected by this problem. I'm pretty upset, seeing as how I paid over 2 grand for this computer. Does anybody have ANY idea at all what is causing this AND what I can do about it?? I'm not a huge computer guy.
The problem doesn't seem big enough to get a whole new computer. It seems like an Apple technician could fix this in 2 seconds. Wouldn't you agree? Please help. Thanks

  • Macbook pro retina zoom/handtool lagging.

    Hello there,
Have a new Macbook pro retina and zoom/handtool lags while using Adobe Illustrator. The lagging is not big but still influence the work flow. Any tips how to solve it?
Would be thankful for a answer.

Try updating to 18.1. If necessary, quit the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app and restart it logging in again and then retry.

  • Static elictricity on MacBook Pro Retina's body disrupts use while charging, any way to ground it?

Hi, I have this old MacBook Pro Retina I got a couple years ago, and part of its original charging kit's wires gave up right next to the MagSafe2 plug, so I purchased a new power adapter, and it appears to not be grounded at all.
When the notebook is charging, static on its metal body is so strong it completely disrupts any work. I cannot use trackpad almost at all, it won't register taps and the coursor is jumping all over the screen even if I don't move my finger at all. To use the notebook I have to keep one of my palms on the metal part of it, and even then after a while my fingers get a little burned on the trackpad, which is inconvenient to say the least.
Anyone have any ideas, how can I can fix this or at least reduce the effects?
I'm in Russia, it's 220v here, power outlets with 2 plugs (no 3rd metal one for grounding).
I've read a bunch of articles about grounding outlets, but they all suggest to bury a metal cable into some soil, which is not possible as I live on 21st floor.
I figured it's the new power adapter's fault, because the old one doesn't act up like that (but I am reluctant to keep using it because its inner metal wiring in places is not covered by plastic anymore, and I fear it might cause a short circuit or something).
When I purchased the new adapter, I was assured it's completely original, but now I suspect it might be a counterfeit, so I would just have purchased another new one, but kinda afraid it will not be original too and will cause the same problems.

It keeps the green light on for a while after I unplug it from the notebook. The scratched part is extension from the old adapter.

  • New Macbook Pro Retina, 30GB of space used in apps? Is it normal?

I just bought a new MacBook PRO Retina 2015 128GB SSD. This is my first MAC.  It runs OSX Yosemite 10.10.2. I checked my hard drive, it shows around 30 GB used space in apps. Why is it so? Is it normally?

The OS and all files including applications will take up about 30+ GBs or more.

  • HT2494 New Macbook pro retina (haswell)

I have the new macbook pro retina, I have been into the sound settings to switch my input on headphone/built in mic to line in but the option is not there?

OK, well, if directing you to the most appropriate forum is somehow offensive, that's your choice
For the record it is advertised as line in and out
Not on the Late 2013 MacBook Pro it's not. If you look at the specs, it clearly says that it's only a headphone out.
Now, do you want to discuss this like an adult so that we can offer alternatives? Or would you prefer to just continue to act like a child?

  • Macbook Pro Retina Noisy Fans When using adobe premere cs6

i bought new macbook pro retina 15'' 2013 newest one , but i heard a fan noise for few minute when adobe premere cs6 run . Is that normal ?
how can i solve this problem...

It probably is.  CPU/GPU intensive applications will place stress on same and cause heat.  You MBP fans are dissipating that heat.
You might install iStat pro (download from the Internet) and compare that with the Activity Monitor display to the the correlation of application usage and temperatures/fan speeds.
    Ciao.

  • 13" Macbook Pro Retina Haswell vs 15" Macbook Pro Retina Early 2013 Refurbished

Interested in buying my first mac this year so i'm weighing the options. Im looking to spend around $2000 for a retina macbook pro, and im trying to decide between:
    13-inch: 2.6GHz
    with Retina display for $1929
    Specifications
    2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
    Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz
    16GB 1600MHz memory (upgraded from 8GB)
    512GB PCIe-based flash storage1
    Intel Iris Graphics
    Built-in battery (9 hours)2
    And,
Refurbished 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.7GHz Quad-core Intel i7 with Retina Display for $2199
    Originally released February 2013

    16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
    512GB Flash Storage
    720p FaceTime HD Camera
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory
I should note that these are the educational discounted prices
I've already eliminated the new haswell 15" (base model) from my options as it seems like it wasn't that much of an upgrade to the previous gen.
Now the main thing i'm concerned about is longetivity, in that I want to be able to keep this laptop for 5+ years before changing to another. So im just wondering which would be the best for keeping up to the paces of future technology (future-proofed).
The things I would be using it for would be:
-Univeristy school work, so portability and battery life are a bonus but not a requirement for me.
-Occasional Gaming (will want to install windows 8 on it) (Not sure how well iris graphics compares to the gt 650M)
    -Document Processing
    -HD video and possible editing,
    -Occasional Photoshop editing
    All replies are appreciated, thanks!

If one of the things you're after is getting the most computer for your money, consider that the 13" is a dual core i5 processor, meaning two cores is what you start with. I'm not sure if hyper-threading is available to take it to an effective four cores. The i7 is a quad core processor but since it can do hyper-threading, you effectively have 8 cores to work with, not four. If you want to install Windows 8 as a virtual machine rather than in BootCamp, you'd need to divide up your cores between your Mac and your virtual PC, and the i5 doesn't give you as much to work with.
The 15" came with Mountain Lion and you have the option of upgrading to Mavericks for free. The 13" offers no choice; it's just Mavericks, and considering the long list of complaints on the Mavericks forum, do you really want to be stuck without a choice?
And then there's screen real-estate. The 15" obviously has more, but you can extend the resolution beyond what Apple limits you to without going all the way to native resolution on both rMBP's using an application like Eye-Friendly (e.g., on the 15" 1920x1200 is the highest Apple approved resolution, but you can go to 2048x1280 or 2560x1600; native is 2880x1800). However since the 15" is (obviously) bigger, the stuff on the screen stays more usable (i.e., visible) at the higher resolutions.
Finally, while the PCIe SSD will be faster than the SSD on the 15", the PCIe SSD is permanent; the SSD on the 15" is not meant to be removed (and doing so would void the warranty if you don't put it back), but it isn't permanent so future upgrades may be possible.

  • Macbook pro retina, too much ram used & performance problems

i've recently got my macbook pro with retina display, 128 gb i5 intel 2.6Hz processor with 8gb memory, OS Yosemite 10.10.1. problems began to appear the very first moment i've turned it on: at the last step of profile creation (the step where you choose a name and a password of your profile), after i've filled all the fields and clicked some button to proceed, my macbook refused to boot and froze. i've restarted the computer and then it booted just fine. Then new problems appeared: after installing some apps from mac app store, they wouldn't load the first time i open them, - i had to close them and reopen. Once again, this issue wasn't appearing with every app - only with a few ones. I assumed that this was a software issue which will disappear after i update. And well, i didn't observe this problem ever since i've updated the OS. However, i can't be sure that it disappeared.
Also, i monitor RAM consumption using the Memory Clean app. there are like only 3.60 gb free space out of 8. is it ok?
so, what i am asking: should i take my macbook to a store to get it fixed or this problem is just a software and not a hardware issue and i just have to wait?
    Thanks

    @_Macuser wrote:

That is normal.  The Mavericks and Yosemite OSXs use as much RAM as is available in order to increase efficiency.. The parameter that you should monitor is 'pressure', not the amount.  If it is GREEN, you are operating within acceptable limits.  If there is a color change, then more RAM may be required or there may be other issues that may need attention.
so, what i am asking: should i take my macbook to a store to get it fixed or this problem is just a software and not a hardware issue and i just have to wait?
Since you have a new MBP, your best option is an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and have them sort out the issues for you.  Your MBP has a warranty, use it.
    Ciao.

  • Macbook Pro Retina 13" 2014 4K using DP 1.2 MST at 60Hz

Has anyone tested the new Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014 Macbook Pro with IRIS graphics on a 4K display running at 60Hz MST using a Mini Displayport to DisplayPort cable on a Displayport 1.2 capable 4K display? I have read people using the late 2013 models able to do 30Hz but no confirmation on the 2014 model yet with 60Hz. I have also read that Windows 8.1 using bootcamp have allowed 60Hz but I wont be installing windows.
Has any Yosemite beta users tried and is 60Hz available in the display settings?
Also can it drive 2 4K displays? one connected using HDMI at 30Hz and the other using thunderbolt/Mini Displayport 1.2

    Hi Ace,
I can confirm that I have it working on a late 2013 15" Macbook Pro with Nvidia 750M on a Samsung 28" 4K display.
I initially tried HDMI which works with 4K at 30Hz, however does not yet at 60Hz, as your research confirmed and frankly 30Hz is just horrible, don't even go there haha.  I got this working as you mentioned above using a Mini-Display to Display cable that I bought from Centre Com (here) at 60Hz which works great!
    Hope this helps.

  • Getting ready to transfer everything from a macbook pro to the new macbook pro retina. Do I use migrate or Time Machine?

  • My macbook pro retina is suddenly lagging in gaming graphics.

Ive installed aassassins creed 2 from the macstore on my macbook retina 15.4 inch base model a week ago...and ive been playing the game since a week and ive been pretty happy with it for a while since ive been getting 45-50fps with my NVIDIA GT650 1GB.. but recently overnight the game started to lag in graphics and fps it decreased to 10-15fps overbight its pretty much unplayable now.. .. i have no idea what went wrong and i dont know whether its a harware problem or not.. ive also tried SMC resetting according to other discussions but it helped a bit even though the lagging reduced it hasnt gone back to its original potential its still lagging by a bit.. please if anyone could help me id be thankful....
