Macbook Pro Retina OSX v. 10.8.3 -Canon Printer MP560. Printer no longer responds to print commands from the computer, printer and network work but cannot get docs from my macbook to print anymore.

Until last week, my printer and Macbook worked fine together - could print any doc or pdf, web page from my computer. Then it stopped - my printer will still make copies but will not print anything I send from my Mac. I have checked network connections, the printer WiFi connection works. I have not changed or added any thing different to my settings. I am out of ideas. thanks, Pattee

Make sure you’re on the same network
Your computer might not be able to find a printer that’s on another local network.
To see if the printer you want to use is on the same network as your computer, try adding it again. If the printer doesn’t appear in the list of available printers, your computer might be on a different network now.
If you know the printer’s IP address (for example, 192.168.1.100), you can try adding it as an IP printer. For instructions, see this help topic:Set up an IP printer
Add your printer again
Try to add your printer again in Print & Scan preferences. If you can print to the newly added printer queue, delete the old printer queue.
If you can’t add the printer because it doesn’t appear in the list of available printers, it may be turned off, or your computer may be on another network now. if the printer was shared by another user, the user may have stopped sharing it, or the user’s computer may be offline. If you don’t manage the printer, ask the person who does for help.

Set up a printer
Reset the printing system
If none of the previous solutions work, the printing system may be corrupted and need to be reset. This removes all printers from your list of printers, deletes information about completed print jobs, and deletes any printer presets.

There haven't been any problems with the computer, apart from a sticky curser,I have run a permissions programme from disk utility, there were a lot of different ones, but it seem to be able to fix them.

First backup your users files off the machine to a external storage drive (not TimeMachine!)
Most commonly used backup methods
Next to startup from the disk, have it inserted, hold c or option/alt (wired or built in keyboard) and then boot the computer and or select the disk when it appears and click the arrow.
Disk Utility is under the Utilities menu on the second screen.

If you used the wrong 10.6 disk, it will spit it out or have issues, use the one that came with that machine or if it's defective, call Apple for a new one.

Hold down the 'C' key to boot from the Snow Leopard DVD.

The Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adaptor will only pass video in most cases. You will need to run a separate audio cable along with it. Likely a 3.5mm (male-to-male) cable. Or a 3.5mm (male) to red/white RCA (male) cable. Just depends on what audio input ports your TV has dedicated to the HDMI input.

When I'm trying to sync my iPad with iTunes on my MacBook Pro, i keep getting a message that certain recent purchases (TV shows) won't sync because the computer is not authorized. But, it IS authorized! What's going on here??

I've recently upgraded my iPad to OS 5 and I am running iTunes 10 on my MacBook Pro. For some unexplainable reason, I'm now getting a message that items (mainly TV shows I've purchased through iTunes) are not able to be downloaded because the computer is "not authorized." But the computer IS authorized. I follow the instructions to "authorize" it and, of course, I'm then told that the computer is already authorized! Still, the downloads won't sync.

I have the same problem. It is only with tv shows and only with programs I have downloaded after the software update.
Apple support sent me the above link too....but it doesn't solve the problem...my computer is authorized and the content is in my library and will play on my Mac air, but it will not sync the tv shows, it keeps saying my computer isn't authorized for it.

Maybe this can help someone else... I simply had to properly uninstall CS3 and reinstall it again after that. I think that sorted it! I also remember having a similar issue with Macs at work a couple of years back. Not sure whether the same applies to CS5/CS6. Thanks for the useful feedback, Knucklesmac. I agree. I must have blown something on the logic board -- because I had a faulty old KVM switch that would not switch between computers without some nasty hot-plugging/unplugging the VGA video cables. (wince!). It's like when Dizzy Dean ruined his arm because a line drive hit him in the foot and he readjusted his mechanics around the injury. I take the blame because this has been a great computer, and does not deserve any blame.

The price range is $75-$85, which doesn't make horse sense to me for such an old computer -- which has a lot of life in it anyway, because its own 15" monitor is not chopped liver.

also, make certain your Mac OS X software is completely up-to-date. There is a Trojan Horse that pretended to be a Flash update, and installed Flash with malware included. The latest security updates removes the malware and all older versions.

This is a common issue with second hand Macs. The iLife apps came bundled free on this Mac and they are registered to your dad's Apple ID. The only way for you to acept them into your Apple ID is for you and your dad to contact Apple Care, explain that he has passed the Mac to you and ask that the iLife apps be released from your dad's Apple ID so that you may accept them into your Apple ID.
