Macbook Pro Retina problem connecting to HP 23xi

Hello Community,
I've been experiencing a problem, I bought a 13' Macbook Pro Retina. Not quite a cheap machine.
But when I connect through HDMI to my HP 23xi , the screen gets blurry and cut (which I was able to fix in the setting). I tried messing with the configurations, but it simply won't get better.
I presume it's because it is retina, of course. But I bought this monitor, a quite nice monitor a month ago, and I do not want to sell it nor throw it away.
I bought this Mac to do web design , but this is not the outcome I was expecting at all.
I've seen the other post about the RGB fix, altough I haven't tried it because it isn't very pratical, my problem is not the color, but rather the pixelated resolution that appears on the display.
What should I do?
My Kindest Regards,
Luisvf7

Looking at the specs for the MacBook,
Thunderbolt digital video output
Native Mini DisplayPort output
DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter (sold separately)
VGA output using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter (sold separately)
Dual-link DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter (sold separately)
HDMI video output
Support for 1080p resolution at up to 60Hz
Support for 3840-by-2160 resolution at 30Hz
Support for 4096-by-2160 resolution at 24Hz
I would consider using a Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter for Thunderbolt digital video.
You will not achieve the 2560 x 1600 display resolution that your MacBook Pro is capable of on your HP display as the display is not capable of that. Specs for the display

    Hi luisvf7,
So it seems you are having issues with your MacBook Pro not displaying properly on your external display. It does sound like a frustrating situation. Let’s see if we can get you up and running.
I would suggest that you use the steps in this article to troubleshoot the problem -

  • I cannot get my Macbook Pro retina to connect to my BT Home hub.

    Hi,
I cannot get my Macbook Pro Retina to connect to my BT homehub either wirelessly or through ethernet using the thunderbolt adaptor.  I know that this is a problem with my IP address as in Network Settings it tells me that
'Thunderbolt Ethernet has a self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the Internet.'
I know that my internet connection is fine as I can plug the ethernet cable back into my PC and it works fine.  Also, my phone and ipad connect wirelessly just fine.
Bt have told me to contact Apple, but I can't get hold of Apple till tomorrow.
Amyone know how to overcome this?
I did also find my IP address and enter it manually, at which point netwrok settings showed my ethernet connection as green and connected, but it still wasn't working.
    Thanks

Same for wifi.  I have put in my IP address manually for the wifi network and it has gone green and connects to the hub, but gives me an exclamation mark on the wifi bar and still doesnt connect to the internet.
I am writing this whilst connected to the internet on the same laptop but connected to BTFON which is a really slow public network I have access to as a BT customer.

  • MacBook Pro Retina Wireless Connection problem

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro Retina (late 2013) w AC wireless capability, and I have not been able to connect to my wireless network at work. Other computers, including my previous MacBook Pro (mid 2008) and my iPad 3 are able to connect to the work network without problems and I have no problems connecting my new MBP to my home or other networks. I have Windows 8 on a Boot Camp partition, and when my MBP is booted under windows, it still does not connect. My MBP is running OS X 10.9.4. My work wireless network uses a Linksys Wireless G Access Point model WAP54G v.2. Rebooting the router does not help. When my MBP tries to connect to the work wireless network, the status in Network Preferences says "Wi-Fi has the self-assigned IP address 169.254.216.147 and will not be able to connect to the Internet."  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • MacBook Pro Retina Wont Connect back to Monitor

    Hey Everyone,
I have a MacBook Pro Retina Early 2013 15in that is running OS X Yosemite - 10.10.2 - Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
At Work for the past 1.5 years i have been connecting to a Dell Monitor via a DVI to HDMI Cable to use as my primary screen and have never had any issues. During the day I often present on the projector in the BoardRoom a Dell 4610X using a direct HDMI cable.
The issue: Ever since I have updated my laptop to Yosemite, every time i connect my macbook to my monitor after its been connected to the projector it will no longer connect. The monitor will recognize that there is something connected but it wont show anything. Even if i try another display in the office the same thing happens. The issue will always resolve if i restart the computer.
Recently I had an issue with the Logic Board and it was replaced by an Apple Certified repair shop. This issue was happening even before the logic board was replaced and it is still having the same issues now, so I don't believe its an hardware issue.
Although this issue is not critical, its a nuisance to re-start my laptop each time i get back to my desk after a meeting in the boardroom...
I would high appreciate some help on this!!
    Thanks in Advance

  • Jaybird headphones and Macbook Pro Retina bluetooth connectivity issues

I recently purchased the Jaybird Bluebuds X Premium headphones and for awhile it would connect to my new Macbook Pro Retina 15'' via bluetooth, but now it doesn't anymore. The headphones connect just fine to my phone (iPhone 4S), and other Macbook Pros (not retina), but they do not connect to other Macbook Pro Retinas. I was wondering if this was a connectivity issue with Macbook Pro Retinas and if so how can I get around it to connect the headphones again?
    Thanks

    Hey there LongHorn16,
It sounds like your Bluetooth headphones aren't working with this one computer, but there is no issue with other devices that you have. I would start with these 2 steps from the following article:
    Restart your computer
Sometimes a simple restart of your Mac is all it takes to get things running smoothly again. You may also want to try resetting your computer's PRAM and NVRAM.
    Reset your Bluetooth device
Try turning your device off and then on again. If that doesn't resolve the issue, see if you can reset your device—refer to the documentation that came with your device for instructions.
    Bluetooth Quick Assist
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1153
If it still doesn't work, then I would next use this article to remove the device:

Then restart your computer and pair it again:

  • Macbook pro retina problems. Unsolved

Hi, i recently purchased a Macbook Pro Retina 15" 8 months back. Till few months I faced no problems. But suddenly I am faciing issues like extreme lag when opening windows & closing them. Resizing windows. Lag in softwares. And also facing ghosting problem in my display all of a sudden. The service company in Mumbai called RSG said they will only be able to replace the spoilt parts, as in change the logic board but will not be able to replace the whole laptop. What am i supposed to do when my display is messed up, logic board is gone & i have paid 2 lakhs for this laptop & no one is ready to replace it !!! This is really ridiculuos. I tried multiple ways to contact apple but there is no direct number or even an email to contact them. So currently im stuck with 2 lakhs down the drain! I rather should have got a macbook pro without retina which runs smoother. Request someone from apple to look into this & help me replace this laptop at the earliest.
    Thanks,
    Yashovardhan

Not ridiculous at all. You may have some problems but the system is 8 months old and the warranty covers Replacing Defect parts not the complete system.
So have it Fixed. That seems to be the simple answer. It is under warranty and Apple or a AARC will do it at no charge to you.
Yeah well this is not Apple. This is a User to User Forum run by Apple the company. Apple the company does not come hear and read posts and even if they did they Never respond to any.
So you need to Call Apple directly.

  • MacBook Pro Retina Problems with Headphone jack, Speakers, USB Port, MagSafe 2 and the hard drive

I took my MacBook Pro Retina 2.6GHz i7 to the genius bar to have the headphone jack looked at. I was told they could easily fix it but had to order the part. That day I took it home and returned to the store once I was notified that the part arrived so I could drop it off for repair. 3 days after I dropped my computer off with the genius bar I missed a phone call and returned to my iphone with a new voicemail. It said something like this, "Hello Tim, I just wanted to let you know that we replaced the headphone jack but it turned out not to be the problem and the problem was actually with the logic board. Don't worry though, we went ahead and replaced that for you, however, after that was done, the speakers stopped working but the headphone jack is fixed. We have to order new speakers to put in your computer b/c we don't have those on hand either."
Long story short, they fixed the speakers but, "had to order another part to repair the USB port." So I am waiting for that to be repaired but the dang AC Power to the actual computer does not work now!!! It's not the magsafe 2 charger that I have or the outlets I tried it in b/c I tried multiple chargers and multiple outlets. I am very frustrated! I have been without my computer for almost 2 weeks and still have to take it in at least twice more to get the power working this weekend and then again next week to (hopefully) get the USB port working.
At what point should I ask for a new computer or a refund? I have been using Apple Computers my whole life, I have had 8 different mac laptop models and have not had a problem until this computer. I am very frustrated with the support I have received from Apple as a whole.

Contact Apple Customer Relations and let them know that you're not happy. With the logic board replacement, everything else should have been evaluated and fixed at the same time. It sounds as if you just got a lemon. You could plead your case for a replacement unit, I would think, since your machine is being 'replaced' piecemeal...
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • MacBook Pro Retina 2013 connecting to Presonus mixer

I bought new MacBook Pro 13" late 2013 to use it with my mixer Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2
    http://www.presonus.com/products/StudioLive-16.0.2
To connect computer Presonus has firewire S400 400mb/s connection.
MacBook has no firewire connection, but has Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter.
Before buying MacBook I checked if there is any issues connecting MacBook and Presonus and found none.
    http://www.presonus.com/news/press_releases/PreSonus-FireWire-Interfaces-Compati ble-with-Apple-Thunderbolt-Adapter
Also I checked Presonus forum and everyone said that there is no problems.
To connect adapter and mixer I have used cable that came with mixer and I also bought Belkin firewire 800/400 cable.
Prsonus has program called Virtual StudioLive wich duplicates all mixers settings to computer.
Now to my problem. Everything seemed to work at first.
But then channel names just got lost in Virtual StudioLive time after time.
Then I send some music from my MacBook through the mixer and I found that there is two pauses to the connection before the channel names get erased from computer.
I also turned Virtual StudioLive off and these pauses still occured.
Have anyone smarter than me any ideas how to sort this problem?
Maybe the thunderbolt firewire adapter is not working propperly?
Maybe it is a hardware problem in MacBook?
Maybe it is a problem that my MacBook pro has Thunderbolt 2.0?

  • MacBook Pro Retina says connected to ethernet, but will not connect

I have a MacBook Pro 13" Retina. It will not connect to my office's network no matter what I do. I've tried different cables, different ports, toggling wifi on and off, inspecting the ports to see if they will recognize other thunderbolt connections and they will. I was able to connect to a Thunderbolt monitor without any issues. It may be the adapter, but there are all kinds of funky-ness going on when I try to assess the network. The thunderbolt heading under System Information claims nothing is connected - even when communicating with the Thunderbolt display. The ethernet connection claims to be working, but will not connect to the internet. It also can't seem to find our router. I've tried to manually enter all the information in using the assistant, but it still can't find it. This is especially frustrating since this computer is under a year old. I can't take it to the Genius Bar because it is owned by my company and contains proprietary info. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello NotAppleSavy,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the computer wont connect to networks. I see you have used network diagnostic. I would recommend that you read this article, there are a lot of other things you can do in this article that may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

  • MacBook Pro Retina problem

I have a brand new MacBook Pro 13 inch with retina display, i downloaded the game Worms from the App Store and started playing while i was playing the game my trackpad didn´t work normaly, I have the pulse option to make click enabled in my mac so i don´t have to push down the trackpad to click just pulse it with my finger but it wasn´t working on the game i had to pulse like 3 times so the mac make the click i don´t have idea why that happened, I got bored playing because of that problem so i closed the app and decided to erase it... When I was out of the app my trackpad worked nice again and still does it perfectly so i wonder why that problem happened? is it a problem with my mac? or a problem with the app? what do you think?
Well, I opened Safari and typed apple.com to make this question and noticed that my menu bar wasn´t okay the part where the batery status and the wi-fi wasn´t looking sharp or clear, you know that the retina display has pretty well resolution.. well that piece of my mac wasn´t okay I could see the pixels so i want to know again if this error is my mac or just cause of the game (because i was playing in full-screen) maybe it was just effect of the full screen maybe the game doesn´t have a retina support?? I just put my mac to sleep and now it is okay again but i´m still worried...

"if you are not gonna help, why do you answer?"
I answer in the hope that if your post is intelligibile and coherent perhaps one can make sense of it.
