MacBook pro return to apple
I received a MacBook pro from apple, it was dead on arrival. The screen had no backlight.
I got it replaced by mail and now I'm wondering how I ship the broken one back to apple? I never received information on how to do so.
I left a message with the apple rep. that covered my case but I haven't gotten a reply.
Is it possible to just take the broken one to an apple store and give it to them there?
I find this really strange because so far every time I have had Apple send me anything, they were very specific as to how to return the old parts to them to the point of including new shipping labels for the returned parts.
I would call AppleCase and ask them for instructions.
You might try calling the Apple Store but I am skeptical of them taking it.

Hi, when powering up my macbook pro, when the apple symbol appears the screen flashes pink, can anyone advise whats up?
You can try a system reinstall:
Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer. -

2009 MBP is not supported for native AirPlay Mirroring. Sorry.
There are a couple of other pay-for apps that do this, but they're not as good... some people have had success. -

I cannot shut dow my MacBook Pro using the apple icon (as it was suppose to be), actually I have to press and hold the on/off buttom. I have taken twice for Mac dealer and they did not solve the problem. What must I do? I would to remark that I have installed 2 antivirus and uninstalled one of them. Since then I have facing this troublesome issue. Thanks
Uninstall the other AV software. They are not needed. All they do is cause trouble like you are having now.
If you have been forcing the Mac to shut down with the power switch you may nave corrupted your disk. You should repair it with disk Utilty to remove any corruption the shutdwons may have cased.

I've encountered 4HDD/11/40000000 SATA(0,0). AFTER SOME RESEARCH IN APPLE COMMUNITY, I LEARNT THAT IT'S A HARDWARE ISSUE. SO I WILL BE TAKING MY MACBOOK PRO TO NEAREST APPLE STORE. MY QUE IS, WILL IT BE FIXED IF I UPGRADE FROM OSX 10.8.5 TO MAVERICKS? What other options do I have? What can be an approximate cost for fixing this problem?
Of course not. It's a hardware problem, so it can't be fixed by upgrading software. The only option you have got is to take the MacBook to an Apple Store or reseller.
That error indicates a problem with the hard drive. What you have to do is to make a backup of your files and take the MacBook to an Apple Store or reseller, so they can confirm that the problem is the hard drive and not the SATA connector, which could be worse.
If it's a hard drive issue, it's not expensive (about $100-200, depending on the hard drive). If it's a SATA connector issue, the whole logic board may have to be replaced.
Note that you can replace the hard drive yourself if you want, but the cost between doing it yourself and taking the MacBook to an Apple Store or reseller is similar -
Hi
Can I stream content from my macbook pro to my Apple tv3 using a cable connection?, I dont want to use wifi

You have answered my question, thank you so much, I've just plugged in and found out that a direct connection will actually work via ethernet, but it works as Airplay mirroring and itune home sharing
No you don't need to use AirPlay from the computer to AppleTV.
Just use the AppleTV as you would with wifi. Everything is controlled from the AppleTV. -
When I mirror my macbook pro to my apple tv the only thing that shows up is one video that's on my desktop. How can I watch something that's online on my laptop, on my apple tv?
Are you using mirroring or using airplay within iTunes? If you are truly mirroring then you can view anything that is displayed on your computer through Apple Tv
Or provide more info on your issue -

Safe Boot disables several things, and you can look at the list and see if you can find the culprit. As Linc says, if you still have a problem, post a new topic so that it will get the attention it deserves. -

About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

I am not able to log into FaceBook on my macbook pro using my Apple ID
Then, what razmee209 says. It's apparently not a phone issue since other people can get in, so I'd call the facebook app developer and let them know what's going on.

I own a new iPad and a MacBook Pro. An Apple store assistant changed my Apple ID on my iPad, and the new ID showed up in the iCloud setting on the iPad. However on my Mac laptop the iCloud still shows my old ID, so there is no synching of documents going on between the iPad and the laptop. What do I do?
On the mac's system preferences: click the iCloud icon, then "sign out" button. After, you can enter the new ID.
