MacBook Pro's warranty outside USA

Hello guys,
I am going to visit USA and buy a MacBook Pro 15 " Retina. My question is when I come back to Bulgaria ( where I live ) will my MacBook still got a warranty and if it brеак or something like that can I bring it to the local apple reseller to fix it ?
Thanks in advance.

I am not sure about the standard warranty but this page states that with Apple Care (extra cost) it will have global coverage.
About the middle of the page.

Quote
"The AppleCare Protection Plan provides global repair coverage, both parts and labor, from Apple-authorized technicians around the world."
As Davin12 says ask at purchase on either standard or Apple Care.

Where the confusion is ruzlis, is that when you purchase with Apple online in the UK, the product already shows the VAT of 20% being charged so the price you see is the price you pay, whereas in USA the Tax will be added later according to the zip code, and a further charge of environmental charges. These extra charge of $75 looks right to me. You are still getting it cheaper from the USA than if you bought in the UK.
I think you need to trust your friend a little more.
And of course if your friend ships it to you, then you still have the VAT to pay as it comes across the border.

  • Is it possible for me and i'm from egypt to order a macbook pro online from the usa store ?

is it possible for me and i'm from egypt to order a macbook pro online from the usa store and have it shipped to me to egypt cause the egyptian store has no online ordering ?

I believe you need a USA attached credit card. The easiest way is to ask. This is a user to user forum. You are not talking to Apple here.

  • Macbook Pro Hardware Warranty = 1 Year.  Maybe not?

The Macbook Pro that I'm currently using is my third Mac. I purchased it in March of 2006 - and I was planning to purchase the AppleCare plan before my 1 year hardware warranty is up. To be sure of the purchase date, I just went to apple.com/support and entered by serial number.
To my surprise, this is what I see:
"Our records indicate that your estimated date of purchase was 26-Mar-06.
Based on this data, your product is not covered for service. However, depending on when or whether you registered your product, if you purchased it from an Apple authorized reseller, or purchased an iPod shuffle from the online Apple Store, the estimated purchase date may be incorrect."
Uh - am I missing something here? Today is 07-Feb-07. I still have over a month before my one year warranty is up -- but that message says that my product isn't covered for service?
What's going on here? I double checked the serial number ... and even tried it a second time, but received the same answer.
    What gives?

Call Apple's Apple Care telephone number. They will be able to straighten this out. It appears there may be a records glitch.
If you have a receipt that indicates that you are within your first year, that is irrefutable.
Apple won't action this from this forum, so it's best to speak to them via telephone.

  • Macbook Pro 13 Warranty

I am about to buy a Macbook Pro 13, should I go for and do I need the extra 3 years warranty?

Yes, the AppleCare is certainly worth it as the 13" overheats more that any other MacBook Pro.
By the way, I hope you don't intend to 3D game, because it's lousy as it has no video card.
A 2.2 ghz 15" MacBook Pro would be much better option, last longer too with more graphics performance.

  • Macbook Pro When warranty start?

    Hi guys,
May I know when did the MacbookPro warranty start?
The date of purchased or the date of setup?
I have an unit which haven open or sealed off at all,
but it have been bought from the store a month ago.
    I get few version online.
Some said the date of purchase while some said it require user to register online.
Although there are several discussion in earlier,
but that was few years ago. May I have the latest confirm info?
    Anyone Please?

I don't know but I assumed the date you bought it and took possession. No not the date you open the box or register online. You have anytime during the first year of possession to buy Applecare extended warranty, a must have for any laptop due to the problems that arise.

    Hi slimpiggy,
Sorry to hear of your frustration. Regrettably, your experience is far from the norm but it's definitely not an unheard of story. A family friend experienced a similar issue with her Dell XPS machine (5 units in 33 months). Sometimes it's just a chain reaction of bad luck.
Out of curiosity, if your computer is such a key component to your income and financial success then why do you have only one? I've worked in a position that has required constant contact to network services and resources and as such one of the first purchases I made was a secondary computer. It was nowhere near as nice as my main unit but it give me a buffer incase there was a situation that my primary machine was unavailable, lost, damaged or required service.
As far as the lesson, there is none. Misdiagnosed machines or slow turn around times on repairs are never fun but there's not much you can do. Apple does have a department, called Customer Relations that you can speak to regarding your experience. Their number is (or at least was this the last time I called) 800-767-2775.
    Good luck!

  • Buying used Macbook Pro w/2 mths warranty left...can I extend w/Applecare?

I'm looking at buying a used Macbook Pro. Warranty runs out in June. I am wondering if I can purchase Applecare as long as I do it before June & if I can, what I need/how I go about doing so? Thanks.

I strongly advise AGAINST buying Apple Care on ebay or anywhere else besides an apple authorized reseller or official apple store.
As long as you buy the AppleCare for MacBook Pro package it will be usable with your machine.
All codes are listen in apple's database, if you try to register an iPod applecare with a macbook pro it will just tell you that it failed. A lot of frauds on ebay, the packaging and codes are just made up and/or already used once before and therefore unusable.
It costs a bit but applecare is definitely worth it.

  • Copy old macbook pro into Air

End of July I am travelling from Dubai to USA and will there buy a macbook air. Before I travel I want to sell my macbook pro. Once in USA I will travel for 4 weeks so I need to copy the old info from my macbook pro and reinstall it to my air while in US without the old computer. What is the best way?
I have time capsule at home. Can I export a time capsule copy to an external hardrive and bring only that one and ask the apple stor to help me instal it?

Since you have to get an external drive before you leave, I'd recommend that you directly back up the computer to the external drive. Because it is vital that this backup be good, rather than using TimeMachine I'd use SuperDuper! or CarbonCopyCloner. The advantage of these is that you've be making a bootable clone. After the backup you could boot the computer using the backup external and test your applications and data. It is less easy to verify a TimeMachine backup.
Once you get the new computer, whether you backed up with TimeMachine or cloned your hard drive, you can use the Setup Assistant to migrate your data and applications to the new computer. You can read about the Setup Assistant here.
It appears that you are going to be upgrading from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. Make sure your software is as up to date as possible - in particular be aware that any software that requires Rosetta won't run on the new computer. It would also be a good idea to disable the startup items in under your user account in Users & Groups tab of System Preferences just in case any of them are incompatible.

  • Upgdaring MacBook Pro to SSD ( HDD)

    Hello,
so I have MacBook Pro mid 2012 13" and I was thinking about upgrading my HDD to SSD. But I also came up with an idea of removing the CD-ROM (because I don't use it at all) and putting HDD instead of CD-ROM. So my macbook would have SSD and HDD at the same time. I could install OS X and all the other apps into SSD and keep my movies, music etc. on my HDD. I know this is possible, but I have one question: what are the cons of doing this? I mean maybe my battery won't last that long or something like that? Is there anything I should know before upgrading my macbook to SSD+HDD?

Arnsa.  Upgrading the HDD is easy. I do upgrades for macbook pro after warranty. I do a brand. You can purchase mx100 mx200 from crucial. In my computer i purchase the SSD370 from transcend. Just do a clean install, using a USB boot. Do the format and install. Before doing all these, disconnect find my mac, sign off Imessege, face time. sign off itunes, book and app store. before installing the ssd.  Since all of your password and safari links is on apple cloud services those can be get back.
Regarding replaicing the cd rom drive, get the OWC caddy. Here is the trick. Check if your MBP can work with 6gb/s on the bay. you can check it in About these mac, then System Report, go to SATTA/SATA Express, there you will find 2 devices. The first one is the main drive. the second is dvd drive data conector. If it said Negotiated Link Speed 6 Gigabit, you can add any mechanical drive or SDD. If it said 3 Gigabit, you have 2 options there, add a 3 Gigabit HDD. Be sure is native 3 Gigabit drive.  On my instlaions, adding a 6 cause problems. I add drive that said backwards to 3 Gigabits, and still have problems. You can search those on Amazons.

  • Macbook Pro Freezes, Crashes, then will take ages to boot

    Running OSX 10.8.2 mountain lion
    Macbook was working fine,
All of a sudden, freezes for 5 or so seconds playing songs and music freezes, will not respond to anything in any program, mouse moves but with rainbow swirl, force quite wont work, cant click anything, have to hard reboot by battery pulling.
i have to PRAM reset it when i hard reboot or it will not boot at all!
    running very slowly,
Disk utility said hard drives fine, usage says 2.4gb of my 4gb ram is unused.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY MAC:(
i think its 2008 macbook pro. no warranty left
300gb hard drive, only 120 gb used
Processor: 2.4 HGz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    thanks alot
    Jack

The boot drive is failing, or you have some other hardware fault.
Back up all data immediately, then make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
There are ways to back up a computer that's unable to boot. Post for instructions if needed.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to bare metal from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • We live in USA and wish to purchase a Macbook Pro computer for our foreign exchange daughter, who has returned to Guatemala.  is it better to buy it here and hand carry or wait and buy it there?  we want to get her warranty and repair benefits

we live in Californina and will be travelling to Guatemala City next month to attend our Foreign Exchange Daughters graduation.  We want to buy her a Macbook Pro as a gift and purchase the warranty/protection coverage for her.  We are concerned she will not be entitled to any Apple Support/warranty by it being purchased in USA but using it and living in Guatemala.
It is better to wait and buy it from a retailer there in Guatemala?

    Apple Care is global.

  • Is there any way to buy a MacBook Pro in the USA, but with a European plug?

I'm going to get a MacBook Pro from the USA, but I live in Belgium, so I wondered if you could get a plug for Belgium straight from the US, or if you needed an adapter.

Apple retail stores will take cash.  But, I would say it is very uncommon, in my experience, in their stores.  The sales personal are all set up to deal with credit or debit cards remotely (ie. there are no "checkout" lines, it is all done wirelessly), so dealing with cash is not the normal mode of transaction.
Not many shoppers routinely wander around malls with several thousands of dollars in cash in their pockets (even most "cash" only folks would likely use a debit card, not actual cash)!  Plus, since many people get special compensation with their credit cards (not talking points and such, but my VISA card gives me double the manufacturers warranty, as well theft and accidental damage insurance coverage for the first 90 days), even those of us who never carry over a balance still prefer to use the credit card and get the perks (I especially like the insurance, as I have to at least get my expensive item home safely before I can use it).
