MacBook Pro scans images fine, but only saves as gray page with banding

I purchased a new MacBook Pro recently. I used my HP Deskjet F4580 to scan with my old MacBook and it worked fine. Now when I scan the image it appears fine on my screen, but when I go to save, there is no trace of the image, just a full gray page with some banding. I tried another printer/scanner: HP Officejet 7310 and I got the same results. I have tried saving as a pdf, jpeg, png. I read other ways to operate the scanner with a Mac, still no success. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Hi Julie,
In order to help you better. Would you let me know which application/Service of Adobe you are using?
And what are you steps to scan the file and save it. And if you are using any Non-Adobe application to scan the documents are you able to save them perfectly?
Regards,
Ajlan Huda.

  • I have my hdmi cord from my macbook pro to my hdtv but only the mac background will project?

I can only get the Mac background to show on my tv after hooking up the HDMI cord from my Macbook Pro to my HDTV? Is there something else I need to do?

I dont see arrangements when I click on displays. I see displays in the hardware section but all it asks for resolutions. is that mean on my computer or on my TV?

  • My Macbook Pro is working fine, but keeps making 3 short beeps

My MBP has started making 3 short beeps every minute or so.
It appears to be working fine, however.
I rebooted it, and ran both the short and long diagnostics, neither of which found any problems.
What do I need to do?

OK, I've resolved this, and its a real dinger.
I logged out of my MBP and logged in again as another user, and there was no beeping, so I determined it wasn't hardware related.
I logged back in as myself and disabled all startup applications, but there was still beeping.
I looked at my system log again, and noticed that there was lots of lines like this:
May  2 15:29:10 Garreths-MacBook-Pro.local coreaudiod[1414]: Disabled automatic stack shots because audio IO is active
which was happening at exactly the same time as the beeps.
I started playing around with audio, and noticed that when I killed the coreaudiod daemon, Chrome crashed. This led me to think that maybe this was something to do with a Flash update, so I started poking around in Flash to find a disable option.
While looking, I noticed a Chrome extension call "Sleep for Gmail". I disabled this, and the beeping stopped. I looked in its setting, and it has an option to play a Notification Sound. Piece of sht software just plays a quad-beep and doesn't pop-up an alert, so you have no idea what the beep means! Arrrgghhh!
Anyway for other, the Apple hardware warning beeps are dull pronounced beeps with a distinctive space between each beep so you can count them.
What I heard was a sort of rapid pager type beep. If you here something similar, its probably software related and not hardware related.

  • Macbook Pro 10.8 won't shut down. Gray screen with spinning wheel.

Previous it happened on 10.6.8 snow leppord.  I thought it might be the RAM problem, so i went ahead and purchased a 16GB RAM. Now I got the RAM up running, i upgraded the computer to 10.8 mountain lion. I thought the problem should be gone by now.  But somehow, it happened all over again, everytime when i use microsoft office 2011.  I even quit every single app fron the Active Monitor (include Active Monitor), and wait for about 5min before shutdown, the gray screen with spinning wheel appeared again. I repair the disk from recovery HD, according to that, there is no problem anymore. But, once again it happened after i used Microsoft office 2011. Is there anyways i could fix it? I suppose uninstall it will make it work, but it's vital.

  • My macbook pro has 750gb storage but it says it is full with 550gb being "Other" and I can't find anything it could be. There's no way I have this much on my computer. How can I find it?

I've searched the entire computer for what could be 550gb and I can't find anything. I have about 120gb of music, 30gb pictures, 22gb applications, 8gb video, and the documents on my computer can't be more than 10gb. How can I find out what is taking up all this space, it doesn't seem possible?

Download Omni Disk sweeper and use it to identify what's what on your Mac.

    Try:
    - Resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Resetting network settings: Setting>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • MacBook pro will not boot. I get the gray screen, an apple icon and spinning wheel. Tried to start in safe mode but get the same screen. The only thing different was that I loaded the zedge sync app yesterday. Now getting this problem.

Macbook pro will not boot. I get the gray screen, an apple icon and spinning wheel. I tried to start in safe mode, but get this same screen. The only thing different is that I added the zedge update app to do a sync for adding ringtones to my apple cell phone. How can I get a good boot. I am fairly new to apple computer.

Reset PRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405 and then try a normal boot.
Run the Startup Manager to select Startup disk:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1310
If those did not work your disk may be sick or dying.  The top priority at this point is to make a backup copy of your data.
Check the health of the disk.  Boot in Recovery Mode (Boot, Command-R).  Run Disk Utility.  Click on the upper left disk icon.  Does the S.M.A.R.T. status say “Verified”?  If not the disk/SSD is unhealthy and needs to be replaced.  Even if it does not show “Verified” you can still attempt a backup.
Click on the icon indented below, usually called “Macintosh HD” and Verify Disk.  If it finishes with a green “OK” message then all is well with the disk.  If it shows errors in red then you have found a problem to address once the system is backed up.  Do not attempt software repairs until you have secured the data.
If the disk will not show up at all in Disk Utility as your ran the tests above then it may be dead or it may have a bad internal SATA cable.  A trip to an Apple store for confirmation would be in order.
If you have an external disk drive you can use as a backup drive then do so.  If not Google “Hitachi USB 3.0 external hard drive 1TB” to purchase one or go to a brick-and-mortar store (including an Apple store) to pickup one.  Any 1 TB external drive will do.
Assuming it is still breathing you can try to recover the data without booting from the sick disk.
Reformat the external disk.  (This will erase all data on the external disk.)
Boot in Recovery Mode.  Start Disk Utility.  Plug in the new disk.  Select it’s disk Icon (the second one down, left justified). Select the Partition tab.
    Partition Layout > Single Partition
Name: Emergency Recovery 1 (or whatever name you wish to use)
    Format: Mac OS Extended (journaled)
    Options… > GUID Partition Table > OK
    Apply
    Select the Restore tab.
Drag the old system volume (Macintosh HD) to Source.
Drag the new disk volume (Emergency Recovery 1) to Destination.
    Click on Restore.
It may take a long time for the backup.
If that will not complete post back for other emergency data recovery methods, including those from a brody.
If the backup succeeds, use the First Aid tab in Disk Utility to select the old volume (Macintosh HD) and Repair Disk.  If it does not finish with a green OK message try to repair it once or twice more.  If it repairs with a green OK message, will it boot normally?  If not, boot from the Recovery Partition and reinstall OS X.
If it is still not healthy, post back for further instructions.

  • In the process of reformatting my macbook pro, I saved everything but my keyword list.  The keywords are with the images, but the total list I use under "Keywords" is not present.  Is there a way to re-create all my keywords I've used over the last 6 year

In the process of reformatting my macbook pro, I saved everything but my keyword list.  The keywords are with the images, but the total list I use under "Keywords" is not present.  Is there a way to re-create all my keywords I've used over the last 6 years.

I accomplished what I needed last night.  I remembered I had picked my favorite images from each year and put them in a "favorite" folder by year.  These folders included 500 to 1200 images per year.  I pulled up the folder for each year and highlighted all images and clicked on "Keywords" and all keywords used for all images were listed.  I made those keywords persistent.  It took me a while to realize I had to click on each keyword to make it persistent.  After doing this for all years, I assume 95% of all keywords I have used over the many years were back in my list.  I'm sure there is probably a more "technical" way to accomplish what I needed, but this seems to have worked.  I also exported my list into a word document and is saved on my hard drive.
If I had not made folders with my favorite images for each year, I could not have used this method, so if you figure out a better way, I like to hear it.  Thanks for your comments and willingness to help.
