Macbook pro screen turned black with different colored pixels after ios installation. Starting up dont seems to be a problem.

I got hurry, my wife needs the macbook tomorrow for school. Can someonen tell me what to do? Reinstalling mountain lion  doesnt help. Reseting the PRAM and smd doesnt work either. The colored pixels are in a horizental lined pattern. When starting up the macbook everything seems to be okay untill the homescreen disappears.

  • Macbook Pro screen turns black and has to be force restarted

I have a 2010 15 inch Macbook Pro that I purchased for college and that is mainly what  I use it for! However lately (the past 3 months) my computer has been turning black with use of videos, pictures and sometimes just my broswer in general. It does not seem to have a reason or pattern but always gives me this panic report after restart. Any Ideas?

  • The camera on my iphone4 opens up but seconds after the screen turns black with white line.

Hi guys! Please help me I have iPhone 4 .the camera although opens up when I press the button, but seconds after the screen turns black with white line. Need I need it repaired or there is some trick which can set it right.?

  • Yosemite: Turning off Macbook Pro screen (lid open) with external monitor connected

Here we go again, this worked pre-Yosemite. Now it seems this trick no longer works. After following these steps again the screen on my Macbook Pro now turns on after logging in and opening the clam shell.
Anyone figure out/know a way to turn off the screen on the Macbook Pro with external monitors plugged in? (yes, closing the clam shell–but I'm referring to keeping the clam shell open with the display turned off)
    http://gizmodo.com/5938452/a-trick-to-make-using-an-external-monitor-with-your-m acbook-way-better
    To execute in Terminal:
    sudo nvram boot-args="iog=0x0"
    To undo in Terminal:
    sudo nvram -d boot-args
Once you type it into terminal I believe you need to enter your password. I then restart my machine. Now the TRICK is to either restart your machine with the lid already closed (hit restart then slam the lid!) OR turn the machine on for the first time (then quickly slam the lid!) once you are past the login screen you can open the lid.

Has anyone experimented with tip 2 (active corners)?  Perhaps it still works.

I'm really sorry about that, but unless you want to pay an additional 1000 dollars or more and get it repaired by a third party and risk getting it damaged further, I'm afraid the Apple Store is the only way to go.

  • MacBook Pro screen turns blank white when try to turn on!

My MacBook Pro is turning on to startup screen with apple icon and loading signal, but then after a few minutes the screen just turns white. What is wrong?

Reset the PRAM >    Resetting the PRAM
If that doesn't help, if your Mac is running v10.7 Lion, v10.8  Mountain Lion, or v10.9 Mavericks, startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to repair the startup disk if necessary and restore OS X using OS X Recovery
For OS X prior to v10.7, insert your install disc then startup your Mac while holding down the C key. From there you can use Disk Utility to repair the disk.

Take it in for repair or exchange. Be prepared to write a pretty big check unless you bought AppleCare+.
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • Late 2008 Macbook Pro Screen Flashes Black

Earlier this year I had a problem with the screen of my late 2008 15" Macbook Pro flashing black. The entire screen would flash black for about half a second, then come back on. This would happen maybe once a day or as frequently as once every minute or so.
In January I took it to the Apple store for repairs, at which time they serviced my computer twice (Jan 10-14, Jan 14-15) to fix the problem. Everything was awesome until this month when I started noticing more issues. My battery was "swollen" and the fans were clicking (probably because I was also having over heating issues after upgrading to Lion). Anyway, I take the computer in, the employees at the Genius bar are very helpful, but as we're sitting there looking at my computer--the screen flashes. Not once, but 5 times. I confirmed that the Apple employee saw it and he took it in to get repaired.
I just got it back--they replaced the logic board for the third time, the ODD Super Drive, Optical Cable, battery, and two fans.
......aaannndd my screen just flashed black again. I'm not sure what's going on. Do I have a dud? They also didn't screw in one of the back screws all the way so I have to take it to the store to get it put in (I don't have that tiny of a screw driver). It's really annoying that they didn't put it in all the way, considering it sticks out enough to scratch the surface of any table I'm working on.
Anyway, anyone else continuing to have these issues?

Update: let it rest for ten minutes. Rebooted, I get a grey screen with vertical rainbow colored lines in three places.

  • Macbook Pro screen is black and will not shut down or boot up right.

Last night my 2007 macbook pro would not go to sleep properly.  When I closed the book the light stayed on and the fan continued running.  Later I shut it down.
This morning the computer turned on but the screen is black.  I tried closing the book but again it would not sleep.  I hold down the power button and it seems to shut down but when I push the power button again the light comes back on and the fan starts up but the screen stays black and there is no powerup sound.
The lights on the battery are lit up.  I tried taking the battery out but same thing.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Try:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Then see if it will boot into Safe Mode. Do not remove the battery unless it's defective.
If none of the above work then you may have a hardware failure so take it in for service.

  • MacBook Pro - display turns black in iPhoto and Photoshop

My screen display has suddenly started blacking out in iPhoto and Photoshop with occasional display glitches appearing at other times.
Running Disk Utility brings up the follow error:
    Checking extended attributes file.
Incorrect number of extended attributes(It should be 619782 instead of 619781)
The volume Macintosh HD was found corrupt and needs to be repaired.
File system check exit code is 8.
Error: This disk needs to be repaired using the Recovery HD. Restart your computer, holding down the Command key and the R key until you see the Apple logo. When the OS X Utilities window appears, choose Disk Utility.
I don't know if this is additional to the graphics card/display issues, or the root cause but on running Disk Utility from this mode, no errors are being reported!? And I'm back to square one. Is there any other software I can run to investigate and repair?
    Thanks for looking.

  • My MacBook Pro screen turns off when I open the lid!

This has been driving me nuts, and also apparently Apple as well.
When my MacBook Pro is connected to a power adapter, if I close the lid it sleeps like a good little Mac. When I open the lid, the display comes on instantly. Then after about a second, it goes black. The LED backlight turns off. I can get it to come on using either of two ways: 1) touch either of the brightness buttons, or 2) remove and replace the power connector.
Now, here is the weird part: it only seems to do it when I am logged in as me. If I login as guest, it doesn't happen. That would seem to imply it is something about my profile that causes it to happen. So I whacked ~/Library/Preferences and it still happened. So where is this particular bit of nastiness hiding?

OK, so I think I solved my issue.  It was caused by the system not going to sleep (The screensaver thing was a dead end).
When I ran the console app pmset, I got something like this:
    ➜  ~  pmset -g assertions
    12-06-29 9:11:06 AM EDT
    Assertion status system-wide:
       PreventUserIdleDisplaySleep             0
       CPUBoundAssertion                       0
       DisableInflow                           0
       ChargeInhibit                           0
       PreventSystemSleep                      1
       PreventUserIdleSystemSleep              0
       ExternalMedia                           0
       DisableLowPowerBatteryWarnings          0
       EnableIdleSleep                         1
       NoRealPowerSources_debug                0
       UserIsActive                            0
       ApplePushServiceTask                    0
The process that was causing PreventSystemSleep to be 1 was "org.cups.cupsd" which is the print service.  So I checked all my printers, one of them was "In Use".  When I opened it, there weren't any jobs listed.  I went through the options and selected Jobs > Show Everyone's Jobs and sure enough there was a job there.  I deleted it and everything seems to work now.
The odd thing is that print job was probably from my other account which didn't seem to have this screen problem.  Anyway, I hope this helps anyone out there....

  • Macbook Pro only turns on with battery unplugged

    Hi Apple Community,
So I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro, and my problems is very specific and somewhat strange, but simple. If the computer is off, I can only turn it on if I open up the case, unplug the battery, and plug in the power adapter. Afterwards I can reconnect the battery, close up the case, and it works fine (and stays operational on battery power when unplugged; the battery evidently holds and delivers power just fine). I've brought it into the store and they were stumped, but I wanted to see if anyone has seen anything like this before I send my 3 year old computer away for a potentially very expensive repair at a depot.
    To review:
Computer will not turn on if it is off and the battery is connected, whether it is plugged in at the time or not.
If the battery is disconnected, it will turn on with adapter power.
Once turned on, it functions normally.
If I literally "Restart", it succeeds in coming back on, which I assume is because formally selecting the "Restart" function is different from actually turning the computer off.
And final note that I don't believe should affect the computer's ability to turn on, but I don't have an OSX installation on the computer. It's running exclusively WIndows 7.
    Any input appreciated
    Thanks
    Brian

I would install the HDD with the OSX and see if the same condition persists.  If so, perform a SMC and a NVRAM resets:

  • Macbook pro screen has black and white squares

I have an older 2007 15" MacBook Pro. I turned it on one day and, although the computer made the same sounds it always does when it is booting up, the screen showed these very depressing black and white squares, and the rest of the pixes around these blocks (half black, half white)  were very scrambled.  A few days later the computer booted up completely normally, but now it is back to the crazy screen.
Does anyone know what this problem may be? I am currently in Thailand and am wondering if someone can help me figure out what problem this most likely is so I can decide how much an appropriate repair should cost.
    Thanks so much!

Hi if the device is a Macbook pro 15 inch mid 2010 model then there might be a chance of replacement of MLB for NVDIA graphic problem, please contact an apple authorised service provider for more details about this issue and you may get a free replacement programme for this MLB also all the best.....

  • Why does my Macbook Pro screen go black when the charger is plugged in while using bootcamp?

While on bootcamp, my computer runs perfectly fine unless I have the charger plugged in. Once I plug it in the screen goes black and starts to charge. I know the computer is still on because I can hear audio from videos if one is playing while I plug in the charger. Once I unplug it the screen comes back on. This makes it so I am unable to work on my computer with the charger plugged in. This is a new problem and did not start once I installed windows 7, it used to work fine. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your suggestion! It helped me with this issue as well. My problem was that I was that Windows had started but wasn't logged in yet--the brightness keys didn't work on the windows login screen. I had to log in to Windows, then plug in the power, then turn the brightness up.
    Thanks again for the suggestion!
