Macbook Pro slow on Yosemite?

I have noticed that my macbook pro (mid 2012) is running quite slow after updating to yosemite. when i on the computer, a bar appears and takes ages to start up. apps bounce in the dock for ages, and when i unfold it, the time it takes to wake is somewhat slow as well. is there any way i can improve on the device's performance? i have not done any damage to my computer like dropping it or anything like that.

The report show many hard drive errors. Did you run Disk Utiltiy from your recovery partition before upgrading the OS? Always a good action. You can run Disk Utility now while booted from your Recovery partition (press and hold command-r while booting) and see it it can repair the issues.
You hard drive is not full enough yet to cause major slowdowns but you need to keep and eye on it and make sure it does not get any more full. You have 53GB (about 10 percent) free space now. You should make sure you don't go below about 20GB. If your physical RAM fills up, Virtual Memory must find qualifying blocks on the hard drive to write swap data and, when teh drive gets crowded, VM's search process slows as does yo uoverapll performance.
You have LOT of third-party stuff installed. "NoSleep" sounds like it could be modifying system resources; see if disabling it helps.

I would get rid of uTorrent because you can download all sorts of malware using it. Also try taking Chrome out of your login items as it tends to be a resource hog.

You don't have enough RAM for all the software you are running. Quit all the applications. Remove everything in Login Items. Restart the computer. Try running as little as possible until you upgrade to 8 GBs of RAM.

Macbook pro slow after yosemite 10.10 update

I updated my Mac book pro 2010 from mavericks to yosemite. And now it is so slow it will take 20 minutes just to turn on to the login menu. If i turn the laptop off for a couple of hours it seems to speed up a bit but then after 30 minutes or so it will start to freeze and take forever to load. Please help.

Mid 2010 macbook pro slow to sleep. No print queu issues.

Hey everyone! My Mid 2010 macbook pro slow is slow to go to sleep. I have read several community forums and I've checked for old print jobs (which seems to be a common issue) and have found none. I've also reset all printers and jobs. Anyways, it takes 35 to 60 seconds to go sleep (until fan/harddrive turns off/I see blinking white light). This slow sleep occurs even with a complete fresh install of Mavericks, and even after installing a new SSD. I am honestly at a loss.
I did the "pmset -g log" command and I have found two reoccurring things that I think might be the reason (though I don't really understand it fully). I commonly see "TimedOut InternalPreventSleep "com.apple.powermanagement.darkwakelinger" 00:00:15" commonly and "PreventUserIdleSystemSleep "Address Book Source Sync" 00:00:30". I am having the same issue. I hook it up to the charger in the evening and close the lid. When I go to use it the next time it takes a good 30 seconds or so to wake up. The screen shows the log in screen but typing doesn't work and the cursor is frozen. Sometimes it will even give the rainbow wheel for the cursor, so it seem like it is processing whatever to get going. I also notice that my battery won't be fully charged at anywhere from 95%-99% after being charged a full evening. What can I do to change whatever is happening because it is pretty crappy to charge it all night expecting to have a full battery for the next use, plus the issue of having to sit there waiting for it to boot every time.

Boy, I was looking at a discussion of this from TODAY, about a half hour ago, and now can't find it.
"Why is my MacBook Pro slow?" brings "screen tearing issue" and other things not related to my problem.
I got and ran Easyfind, and got rid of MacKeeper.
What else do I need to do?
I have the beach ball way too often.
I just made an iMovie, but optimizing it for YouTube is impossible. Boxes keep getting grayed out; complete hangup.
Can easyfind help further?

Kim Komando said get Sophos, so I did. I see it found something called Bredo-K on Nov. 22.
It's now scanning my OVER 5 MILLION FILES. Seriously, I don't think I need that many.
Right now about 50% of CPU idle,
about 1.03 GB Ram free.
Sophos is using about 90% of whatever.
This scanning could take all weekend. I need to get rid of some stuff. Hard to know what, though.
Thanks for any more ideas.

There is no upgrade to iPhoto with OS X 10.10.3 - here was an update to version 9.6.1 a few months ago and Photo 1.0 was added with 10.10.3 - what software and which version are you having trouble with - iPhoto or Photos?

Wait for an iOS update and send feedback to Apple. Many have reported that problem here - synced events and faces in arbitrary order, but there is no known solution. You cannot arrange the synced events, albums, and faces on your iOS devices in any way.

The update alerts are fake, and are intended to dupe you into installing malware or disclosing private information so that your identity can be stolen.
You might get the alerts when visiting a website that has been hacked. Don't visit the site again. If applicable, notify the site administrator of the problem, but don't send email to an unknown party.
If you get the alerts when visiting more than one well-known website, such as Google, YouTube, or Facebook, then they may be the result of an attack on your router that has caused you to get false results from looking up the addresses of Internet servers. Requests sent to those sites are redirected to a server controlled by the attacker. It's possible, but less likely, that the DNS server used by your ISP has been attacked.
Back up all data.
Unlock the Network preference pane, if necessary, by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your password. Cllck Advanced, open the DNS tab, and change the server addresses to the following:
          8.8.8.8
          8.8.4.4
That's Google DNS. Click OK, then Apply.
In Safari, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If you’re using another browser, empty the cache. Test. If the fake update alerts stop, see below. Otherwise, ask for instructions.
The router's documentation should tell you how to reset it to the factory default state. Usually there's a pinhole switch somewhere in the back. It may be labeled "RESET." Insert the end of a straightened paper clip or a similar tool and press the button inside for perhaps 15 seconds, or as long as the instructions specify.
After resetting the router, quit the web browser and relaunch it while holding down the shift key. From the Safari menu bar, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Do the equivalent if you use another browser. Open the Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.
Then go through the router's initial setup procedure. I can't be specific, because it's different for every model. The key points are these:
1. Don't allow the router to be administered from the WAN (Internet) port, if it has that option. Most do.
2. Set a strong password to protect the router's settings: at least ten random upper- and lower-case letters and digits. Don't use the default password or any other that could be guessed. Save the password in your keychain. Any password that you can remember is weak.
3. If the router is wireless, or if you have a wireless access point on the network, use "WPA 2 Personal" security and set a different strong password to protect the network. If the router or access point doesn't support WPA 2, it's obsolete and must be replaced.
During the time the router was compromised, you were redirected to bogus websites. If you ever connected to a secure site and got a warning from your browser that the identity of the server could not be verified, and you dismissed that warning in order to log in, assume that your credentials for the site have been stolen and that the attacker has control of the account. This warning also applies to all websites on which you saw the fake update alerts.
Check the router manufacturer's website for a firmware update.
If you downloaded and installed what you thought was a software update, ask for instructions.

Wifi keeps dropping out on MacBook Pro after installing Yosemite. This is not good. Apparently, a lot of people are having this issue with Yosemite. Any suggestions for my MacBook Pro? It's bad enough that Yosemite looks so boring, but to have a major issue like constantly disconnecting from wifi is deplorable.
I plan to keep Mavericks on my iMac until this issue is resolved.
