Macbook Pro suddenly stops connecting to wifi

So yesterday, my macbook pro suddenly stopped connecting to any wifi sources at all. Instead after trying to connect, it just gives me the icon with the ! mark, saying that there is no connection made. I've tried multiple routers/sources, and they all don't work. The only reason I'm even connected to the internet right now is through tethering via usb (when I try to make my phone a hotspot, my computer doesn't read it, of course).
Does anyone have any idea why this would happen?
My software is up to date, completely. Macbook Pro, 2010 model, OS X Lion 10.7.3

  • Imac and Macbook Pro suddenly stopped connecting to my wireless network

I am having the strangest problem. I've had a linksys router for years and my network has worked fine. I have a 2008 iMac, a new Mac Book Pro, Xbox 360, and a PS3 connected to it. Yesterday, the Apple products stopped connecting to the linksys, however the Xbox and PS3 connected fine. I thought it was my router being the problem so I went to Apple Store and bought an airport express to just set that up as my primary router. I could not set it up the normal way wirelessly as neither my iMac or MBP would pick it up via the Airport Utility tool. I had to hardwire it to my iMac to get it set up. It seemed to not be working however the green light did eventually come on. My xbox connected to it fine, however the iMac and MBP would not connect. Both did end up connecting but only for a short time and now neither can find the Airport Express. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what my problem is? It just doesnt make sense that both mac computers stopped picking up the linksys at the same time, and neither will really pick up the Airport express either. I'm just so distraught over this because I had everything working fine such as sharing files, wireless printer, Apple TV, etc.

Hi there, I have exactly the same problem, one year with imac and a few months ago my wireless network disconnected and kept disconnecting and connecting on and off, it's not the Internet because laptop and other aps are ok
Today I tried contacting Virginmedia to see if they could help and they told they are not trained for mac! Anyway they suggested to try to use the "renew DHCP lease" button in the TCP/IP page in network settings and it seems it is working better now, lets see if it lasts...

  • Macbook Pro won't connect to WIFI

Help! My new Macbook Pro won't connect to my home's existing WIFI network. The other computers (PCs) are running on it without a problem but when I try to join the network it rejects my password as being incorrect, though it definitely is the right one!

Check to make sure the Caps Lock is off.
What type of wireless security are you using? If it's WEP Mac's don't do WEP anymore and you will need to change it to WPA or WPA2.

  • My iMessage and Facetime have totally stopped working on my macbook pro - im still connected to wifi and my internet is working fine...what happened???

Help! My Facetime and iMessage just totally stopped working on my MacBook Pro - my wifi is still connected and all other apps/internet are working fine.  What happened??

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
    and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
    Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.

  • Macbook Pro won't connect to wifi but other computers are working perfectly

    Hi,
I have a 2012 MacBook Pro that connects to WiFi no problem anywhere else - except for my parent's house (who I am currently visiting).  There are 2 other PCs in the house that connect to the WiFi without a problem, as does my iPhone.  When I try to connect, the Network Setup Assistant keeps saying "Connection Timeout" and then when I go into "Assist Me" the error comes up as "The password you entered is invalid."   I know that the password is correct, but I can't get passed this step...tried restarting computer and router but no luck.
    Help!!

Click the Advanced button in the Network preference pane, then the TCP/IP tab. Type something (anything, as long as it's unique) in the DHCP Client ID text box. Click OK, then Apply. Reopen the TCP/IP tab and click Renew DHCP lease.

  • Macbook Pro won't connect to wifi while all other macbooks in house will.

I have a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 and we got wifi at the house this afternoon. It will not connect, if I open network diagnostics the top four lights are green, internet and server are red. There are two other macbooks in the house(at least one also running 10.6.8) and two ipads, all of which connect with no problem. The macbbok in question connects fine at coffee shops and, up until a week ago, fine with the wifi at my last apartment.
We are using Charter and the router is a Motorola SBG941.
Thanks for any advice you can give!

  • Camera hardware on Macbook Pro suddenly stopped working

Yesterday I was in the middle of a FaceTime call and suddenly my camera stopped working. I restarted my computer and the camera worked temporarily, then just as suddenly it stopped. When I restarted again, no camera was found.
I checked around and tried that tip from OSXdaily - shutting down the VDCAssistant using Terminal. I also updated all of my software. I'm fully up to date in terms of the operating system. I've tried the whole zapping the PRAM thing also (ctrl+opt+P+R). I've set up additional accounts, checked across different applications - nada.
Any other suggestions as to what the issue could be and how I can fix it? I bought my MacBook Pro at the end of December 2011, so it's not new, but it's in great shape.

  • MacBook Pro says its connected to wifi but doesn't work(or goes super slow)when the wifi works for everyone else Help!

I have recently gotten a MacBook Pro (through my highschool so it is monitored by them) and ever since I brought it home it's been having wifi connection problems. It says the wifi is working fine, it shows full bars, but when I try to connect to the Internet it acts like there is only one bar or no bars. Although every one and a while I can get a great connection but it lasts for about 10 minutes. This I do not get because the wifi works perfectly fine for everyone else in the house and for our phones too. So if anyone else could help me I would be soo happy. Thanks.

I have had the same issue and searched the forums and found nothing that helped. I contacted apple support and this is what they told me to do:
First we’ll do the SMC reset
1.) Shut down the Mac and connect to power source.
2.) Unplug external devices, flash drives, external monitors, external HD (Keep the Mac plugged into power source)
3.) Hold down “Shift” + “Control” + “Option” (On the left side of the keyboard) + Power key for 30 seconds.
*The Mac should remain powered off during the reset, the LED on the MagSafe Adapter may change colors.
**The “Option” key is also known as the “Alt” key on some Macs.
Awesome, now let’s reset the NVRAM
    1.) Locate these keys “Command”, “Option, “P” & “R”
    2.) Power on your Mac
3.) Immediately press and hold all 4 keys “Command” “Option” “P” “R”
4.) Listen for 2 boot chimes and then release.
**The “Option” key is also known as the “Alt” key on some Macs.
Posting this here in the hopes that it will help someone else still searching for an answer.

  • Macbook pro just stopped connecting to wireless internet.

I have tried restarting it and deleting the old usernames and paswords, but nothing works. I thought it might be an  internet problem but i am having the same problem at home and school.
    Can anyone help me?

My macbook stopped connecting to wireless internet. Ive tried everything. HELP!
Open System Preferences then select the Network tab.
Cick Assist me... then click Diagnostics
If any of the buttons on the left are red click Continue.
That should help narrow down whether it's Wi-Fi or your settings or your ISP.

  • Retina Macbook Pro Having Trouble Connecting To Wifi?

Hi, I have a TP Link router with a 2013 2 TB time capusle connected to it.
And My macbook pro seems to be having trouble connecting to the TP Link's network, My 5GHz network on my time capusle, and my normal 2.4GHz network on my time capusle.
When I try connecting to a network it says connecting for about 30 seconds and then comes up with a exclamation mark "!" symbol.
It will randomly start connecting and working, then maybe 10,15 minutes later it drops out for a few hours again. Im not sure what's going on.
P.S Averything else will connect (Macbook air, iPhone 5s, My iMac, My iPad mini ect.
    Please Help!
    James.

When you see an exclamation point in the Wi-Fi menu, from the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts. You may get a warning that Wi-Fi is not available, that you're too far from the base station, or that you're using the wrong password.
Assuming that you've ruled out those possibilities, restart the computer and try again. If there's no change, click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane and authenticate, if necessary. From the Location menu at the top of the window, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click  Apply and test.

  • Macbook Pro won't connect to wifi router

My laptop won't connect to my wifi at home when I go into my room. The wireless router is on the other end of the house and I know you'll probably say it's out of range, but i've been in the same room for 2 years and i've never had problem connecting it until up to a couple of weeks ago. Nothing has changed in the set up of the house, it just randomly stopped connecting. Can anyone suggest what may be wrong??
    Thanks.

It could be that one of your neighbors has added a router that's basically overpowering yours. Try logging into the router and changing the wireless channel.
