Macbook pro switched off won't turn back on

My mid 2011 macbook pro switched off while I was charging my iphone 5 with it (was using belkin cable since NY apple cable started ripping open at the ends and now it won't work).
This happened 2 days ago. I browsed through some of the community members having the same problem but none of it works for me. If I recall the macbook has 60% chsrge . I tried connecting my charger to the laptop it only lights up with a light green color that's hardly noticeable. Moreover none of the keys work it seems. Please help

You will have to take the computer to the Apple store to have it checked out.

My macbook pro randomly switched off and wont turn back on. I have tried to charge it but it wont work. How can I get it to turn back on??

It's more than likely broken, a part has failed. You need to take it to a Apple store Genius Bar to be checked out and fixed. Or just buy a new Mac as to fix the one you have might be cost prohibitive. Especially if your warranty has expired.

  • Macbook Pro died and won't turn back on

    Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro 13' (it's about 1.5 years old). I was on it a couple of hours ago when I got the running on reserve battery indicator. Before I could plug the charger in, it died. I have had the charger in for over 2 hours now and it still won't turn on. The green light is on on the charger. When I unplug the charger the first battery strength light flashes on twice but that is it. When it is plugged in the battery strength lights do not go on at all. I have been searching for an answer for over an hour but can't seem to find one. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

It's a possibility, magsafes are known to do all sorts of strange things (I've had tons of replacements), but more than likely it's your battery. Does a friend or family member have another charger you could try? That's how you'll know if it's the battery or charger. If not I would say take it to an apple store to try it out!

Please read the warranty paperwork that came w/your computer.
You have 14 days to return the computer w/no questions asked.
You have 90 days of FREE phone tech support on top of your standard 1 year warranty unless you also purchased AppleCare which gives you an additional 2 years of coverage plus FREE phone support.
Strongly suggest that you take FULL advantage of the above before it runs out.  Let Apple deal w/the problems.
If you DIY and mess up, your warranty will be VOIDED!

  • Macbook Pro Retina 15" won't turn on.

Macbook Pro Retina 15" won't turn on. The charger light is orange. I tried all tips that Apple provides on the official site -  http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204267. Any ideas?

If you purchased it from Apple directly, they have a 14 exchange or refund policy.  Keep that in mind when you go to the store.
    Ciao.

  • IMac Shut Off - Won't Turn Back On (Fully)

So, last night I was using my last-iteration iMac and it randomly shut off. I tried to power it back on... and it wouldn't. I then felt the back of the case and it was very hot. I figured it was an overheating issue, but now it won't turn back on. When I hold down the power button, it begins to start up and I can hear it "clicking" then it shuts down. It restarts itself, and I can hear a very low hum. Something is running inside of it, and the disc drive will spin if I put a disc in, but it's not turning on fully. I tried several different troubleshooting techniques with the main problem being nothing will appear on the monitor so a few of them are out of reach. I also tried booting to the boot disc and, again, nothing will appear on the screen. I did the one power reset which caused my fans to blow loudly and I had to, again, fix that, but... yeah. It starts up, shuts itself off, starts back up and something works but I can't tell what is whirring in there. The computer is only about six months old, but I didn't take out the Apple Care so I'm extremely frustrated, as it is well-cared for and this issue seems extremely random. Thanks in advance to anyone that can provide help.

    Hi Jonathan
Your iMac is warranteed for the first year so you are covered. Applecare extends that to three years but in your case you didn't need to buy it to cover this issue. Call apple and make an appointment to bring it in.

  • Macbook pro early 2011 won't turn on

My MacBook Pro was working fine until an evening, when it suddenly turned off. It was connected to power and had about 70% charge. The Magsafe indicator turned off along with the mac, but it turned green soon. It still stays green and won't change to amber. Without the magsafe connected, the battery indicators won't respond. If the magsafe is connected, 6 battery indicators lit up as usual. I tried resetting the SMC, but no success. I tried looking for burned areas in the logic board, but everything seems fine.

One more thing, I had my 1TB external HDD connected to the mac via USB, when all these happend. (http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=470)

  • Macbook Pro late 2008 won't turn on

I had a well working Macbook Pro unibody late 2008 (15 inches) but wanted to upgrade it a bit so after changing the HD to 1TB (which worked with no issues) I ordered some RAM to get it to 8GB (from 4). I opened it, changed the RAM, cleaned up the Fans that were really full of dust, put everything back and surprise: The Power button does NOT respond. Battery is fully charged, MagSafe is green, everything seemd normal but it just won't turn on.
I tried to put the old RAM back in it => Same result.
I tried to reset the SMC following this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 (removed the battery and power, pressed the button for 5 seconds, plug it back) but it didn't work either..
I checked every cable I could see under the hood but I really didn't touch much of the machine besides the fansm that I didn't even unplug..
What could cause this?? How do you troubleshoot a machine that won't even power.
    Help please!
    thanks

    apassemard,
how did you clean the fans? The MacBook Pro’s internals are extremely sensitive to static electricity; if you did not take care to discharge any static electricity on your person before working with its internals, you might well have fried them through static electricity discharging into your MacBook Pro’s logic board.

  • MacBook Pro (Mid 2007) Won't turn on

I have a MacBook Pro that was running 100% okay, until yesterday morning when I turned it off as I ran out the door and arrived home to a MacBook that will not turn on. All it does is turn on the little light "Sleep Light" I think, on the thing you press to release the latch. If you hold it up to your ear, the optical drive makes a dull whirring noise. There IS a DVD in there, so it could be an issue with that, I have tried the cardboard in the drive trick, but that doesn't mean I didn't do it wrong. Anyway, I have tried all of the "basic thing", everything that they are able to do at the Apple store, reset the PRAM, I check all of the cables on the inside (Which is why my laptop isn't currently being fix - appearently I voided the warrenty and they want $1200 to fix)
Anyway, I would REALLY appreciate if someone was able to help me out
    Thank you in advance!

I have similar issue since yesterday - suddenly yesterday evening my MBP 2007 (Santa Rosa, with Nvidia 8600M GT) showed me a flickering screen. I switched it off and then it would never turn on again. As you, I see the "sleep light" turned ON; I heard the DVD spinning (there's the Mac OS X install CD in there which I inserted hoping it would boot). I have something to add which you did not mention: the chime keeps repeating. The chime repeats 3, 4 times, while fading and lowering in volume at the same time. Then it goes up again in volume and repeats the "fading", as if the booting process was initially hang then was restated. Screen is black and there's no other sign of life.
I restored the initial 2Gb of RAM (since I thought my current 4Gb could have been faulting all of a sudden), with no results. I reset PRAM and SMC with no noticeable effect.
I suspect the logic board is gone.
I do also wonder how I can access my HD if at least the HD is sane (I have backup but it's 2 weeks old).
Sorry I don't have any solution for you. I just wanted to add similar experience to yours.
    Cheers.
