MacBook Pro switches from windows

My MacBook Pro swiches incessantly from a safari windown to the finder without touching any buttons.  Completely disruptive of my work.  How can I stop it?  Thanks!!

I have a registered copy of Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows and now use iMac (no CD Rom so require download) & Macbook Pro, since early 2013. How might I acquire a compatible upgrade, so as to continue to use my Acrobat Pro on my new machines? I have my Acrobat 9 Pro Serial Number.
I also pay a monthly Photoshop Creative Cloud subscription which is current to May 24 2014 - 2 months left until end of my 12 month contract.
    Would appreciate any advice.

  • Is there any possible way I can dual boot Windows with OSX 10.7.2 on a MacBook Pro 15' from 2006?

    Hello,
I am new to this forums.
I have searched about dual boot win/mac, but couldn't find a clear answer, so I decided to post this now.
I run a MacBook Pro 15' from 2006 (Intel based) and have upgraded it to OSX 10.7.2 Lion.
I have tried to install windows 7 on a small (20GB) partition by using Bootcamp, but then I've received a notice saying that there was no windows support software available. However, I did install Windows 7 Professional by unchecking that box. After the installation I have downloaded the windows support software and tried to install it but then I've received a notice saying that I can't install it on this machine.
Could you please give me any suggestions on how to dual boot win/mac, if it is possible at all using this machine? And how to safely go back to where I was before (with a single mac OSX 10.7.2 partition)?
    Thanks.

This problem has been solved as I just needed to download Boot Camp 4.

  • Using Migration Assistant to move files from old PC laptop to new MacBook Pro that has Windows 8 installed containing Outlook

When using Migration Assistant to move files from old PC laptop to new MacBook Pro, that has Windows 8 installed containing Outlook, will emails, contacts and calendar entries be moved to Outlook on the new MacBook or into Mail, Contacts and Calendar?

I doubt they will. But then I'm not sure as I used a migration program once about 18 years ago and totally FUBARed the system I had at that time and I've never used one again.
For me the reason to have a new system is to start fresh. Installing only program that I now use and manually copying data over from the older system.
Not sure your older version of Outlook, and the outlook mail boxes, are compatible with Office/Outlook for Mac 2011.
A better place to ask this question would be on the MS Office for Mac forums.
Hope it all works out for you.

  • Can a MacBook Pro stolen from me be reformatted just like Windows?

Sorry for asking this Question - I know that there have been threads in the past with similar Question but still I'm kinda confused.
-MacBook Pro OS X has been stolen from me
-I have enabled my Apple ID in it
-I called Apple Support and requested to 'Erase' the data
Can a MacBook Pro stolen from me be reformatted just like Windows?
-Can the thief easily reformat its hard drive just like on Windows and install a cracked Operating System?
    Thank you Guys.

The answer is, Yes. If you enabled Find My Mac, then you could track it or erase it using your iCloud.com webpage and clicking on Find My Phone after signing in.
What To Do If Your Mac Is Lost Or Stolen
If you activated Find My Mac before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if it is connected to the Internet by Wi-Fi. What you cannot do is track your computer using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your computer for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty. Be sure to report the loss or theft to the local police. Have the serial number handy. If your Mac is found it cannot be returned to you if you don’t have the serial number and proof of purchase.
Find My Mac can be used from Find My Phone at iCloud.com and via Find My Phone on your iDevice.

  • Ipod Switch from Windows to Mac:  Possible?

Hi, I'm new here. If this has been asked, I couldn't find it.
I just bought a Macbook Pro; first Apple computer I've owned.
My iTunes library is on my IBM. Is it possible to get my songs into my Apple and then reformat the iPod and reload them?
    thanks.
    Regards,
    Mark

You can use your iPod which will work on your Mac, there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. I use Senuti but have a look at the others and go with whichever you prefer.
    Senuti Mac Only
    iPodRip Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
    iPod.iTunes Mac Only
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
Another way of course would be to network the two computers and copy over your iTunes folder. There is a good general guide to switching from Windows to Mac at the following link that touches on moving music as well How to Move to a Mac - Get your stuff from your PC to your new Mac
    There are also these guides:
How to move music between authorised computers
Moving your iTunes Music Folder This is written around moving to another drive on your computer but should adaptable for moving to another computer ok and also Networking with a Windows PC
Don't forget by the way if you have purchased any tracks from the iTunes Music Store to deauthorise your old PC if you are disposing of it so you don't use up your 5 allowances How to move music between authorised computers

    Hi LamboMong,
    just try this:
    http://refit.sourceforge.net
install, reboot twice and choose the Windows-Partition on next startup.
(The apple-bootloader doesn't display all bootable harddisks.
With rEFIt you can boot from all partitions/harddisks on your computer.)
I hope that will solve your problem.

  • Why do I have to switch from Windows Phone to Andr...

Why do I have to switch from Windows Phone to Android?
    [September 30, 2014]
This year all my friends with Windows Phone (WP) had switched to Android. Why? The Apps. I continued with WP until now because the OS is very cool (particularly the 8.1 desktop) and because I love Nokia Phones. And the new 830 and 930 models look great.
But I will buy a new Fuji X30 Camera, I need the Wifi remote app for some shoots,  I have no choice
Now, I will give a list of reasons my friends left WP because lack or applications, maybe somebody at Microsoft is listening and can revert this tendency.
    1. Bank Applications (Bancolombia APP)
    2. Giro D’Italia app from La gazzetta dello sport.
    3. Stereopinic Concert app.
    4. General Motors - Chevrolet navigation/location app.
Another annoying thing with Nokia phones in emerging markets is they don’t distribute all the accessories (headphones, wireless chargers, cases), so you have to buy them from another country make them expensive. I even met three months ago the commercial leader for Nokia here in Colombia, a group of people mentioned this, but nothing has changed since then. The updates came very late and right now I’m not able to use Cortana
I hope Microsoft starts investing hard on apps and identify that little temporal applications for just one week or month (sport events/concerts) and start to create mechanisms to get things done. They just can’t waste the 6’000.000 consumers in US and the 10% share market in some countries in Europe and in emerging markets.

I don't endorse any mobile phone brand nor receive any free stuff from them. Neither did I advertise anything. It was rather a recommendation if the starter of this thread would like ot purchase an Android phone. Censorship won't help to sell any more Lumia phones.
I cannot blame anybody who's about to purchase an Android phone. Being a Windows Mobile & Phone user since 2006 I've seen those strategic mistakes Microsoft has made when the 1st and the 2nd generation of Windows Phones were released (the price of developer account etc. etc.). It's very hard to mend those things afterwards but I sincerely hope it won't be impossible.
I'm blessed that I live in FInland because Nokia has always been considered as a Finnish mobile brand and therefore there are all those (well, almost all) necessary apps available for Windows Phone. IMO the best Nokia app has been Here Transit. I really don't need Here Drive+ because they don't bother to include speed cams and line assistance to their app. Just take a look at Navigation Europe and there you have the best possible navigation app for Windows Phone. Waze is also great and it's free. Hmm, I guess that sentence will be censored because I recommended something
I've been quite pleased with the latest Windows Phones. They haven't crashed like my Dell Venue Pro did (first Windows Phone ever) or like my Android phone, tablet and TV box. But in order to increase the market share  of Windows Phones there are two ways:
    1) good (amount of) apps, great hardware and/or
    2) double booting phone where it's possible to choose whether to boot to Android or to Windows Phone. I'd love to have that kinda phone with the goods described in 1)

  • MacBook Pro Core i7 + Windows 7 Bootcamp issues

I recently bought a brand new MacBook Pro Core i7 2.66Ghz with 8GB Ram and 500GB 7200rpm HD and Hi-Res display.
When I received it, I updated all Mac OS X software via software update.
I then created a 70GB Bootcamp partition to install a new full copy of Window 7 Ultimate.
I started with the 64bit version of Win 7, but as has been noted here there are some issues with the driver packages and even after managing to get the 64bit version of the Bootcamp 3.1 driver package update to install in Windows (having first installed Bootcamp 3.0 drivers), the wireless driver would not install or work, nor would the NVidia driver, so I had a very odd display aspect and low res support. There may well have been other drivers not working either, but these two really stood out.
Despite the Bootcamp 3.1 driver package apparently being installed (as reported by "About Bootcamp", the 3.1 package was still being offered to me in Apple Software Update. I tried to install again, and again it still showed as being available to install. Obviously some issue's here.
So I decided to try the Windows 7 32bit edition instead, as I don't necessarily need the 64bit version to run the Windows apps I need.
I deleted the Bootcamp partition and started again. I ended up in the exact same situation with Windows 7 32bit as I had done with Windows 7 64bit - wireless device without a driver, NVidia drivers not installed. This time I had used the Bootcamp 32bit driver packages.
In the end I've opted to just install it via VMware as a pure virtual machine. This works fine, but for what I do in Windows, I prefer to have a Bootcamp setup.
Is there a general issue with the new MacBook Pro's and Windows 7 despite Apple releasing updated driver packages? Do these new driver packages handle the dual GPU setup properly?
I have read a number of "How to's..." for installing Windows 7 on the a MacBook Pro, but none have been successful for me. Am I wasting my time for now and need to wait for Apple to update Bootcamp for the 2010 MacBook Pro's, or am I just missing something in the way I'm doing this? I can't believe it shouldn't be this hard?

Running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my brand new 15" MBP right now.
The only problem I'm having is the USB controller issue that is reported in the following thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2411685&start=30&tstart=0
I ran the Boot Camp assistant, made the partition, rebooted with my 7 DVD, formatted the partition, performed a clean installation, & then installed the drivers from the OSX DVD when Windows booted the first time.
Replaced the NVIDIA drivers with the latest Verde release. 258.96notebook_winvista_win7_64bit_internationalwhql.exe
Everything seems to be running just fine at this point.

If you see a red light in the audio output port, then the internal switch is stuck.  Insert the earphone plug a few times and see if you can trip the switch.  If that fails, insert a cocktail stirrer and the like and jiggle it around inside.  If that fails, take it to an Apple store and have the technicians at the genius bar do it for you.
    Ciao.

  • Please help:  I've just switched from Windows

    Dear Board,
I've just switched from Windows (purchased a Mac Pro for audio work) and I keep trying to right click the mouse for extra features like...(save, save as, open in new window, close) and none of these options seem to be available except as key commands.
Can someone instruct me on how to do this, if it is possible?
    Thanks,

Mac Pro 2.66/3 gigs ram   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi, B3.
    1. If you have a two-button mouse, then Mac OS X should recognize the right-click to display the contextual menu for an object. However, some third-party mice, e.g. Microsoft Intellimouse, etc. may require you download and install the Mac drivers for such.
    2. What mouse are you using?
    3. If right-click isn't working, you press and hold the Control key, then click with mouse button 1 (left mouse button by default). Then release the Control key.
    4. There are fewer contextual menu choices in Mac OS X than in Windows, but I'd also not run out and download all sorts of third-party contextual menu items willy-nilly as these can be problematic.
    5. Since you just switched from Windows:• When looking for new applications, I recommend searching MacUpdate or Version Tracker. The user-submitted reviews accompanying the listings can be helpful in sorting the wheat from the chaff.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can install the new hard disk yourself if you want to. You just need a 2'5" SATA II hard drive, which is compatible with your MacBook Pro. You can buy one at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ You can filter hard drives by computer, so press a "Click to view all...", choose your computer in the sidebar and it will give you the compatible hard drives.
There are different brands for the MacBook Pro. The most recommended are HGST and Seagate, which have good reputation. A 7200 rpm hard drive will give you extra performance
