Macbook Pro to Macbook Pro Video Mirroring

Hey all,
Is there a way while downloading video off of video camera onto a MBP to connect it another MBP so that both screens can be watched at the same time?
I'm a football coach and on the way home from away games we'll download the video of the game onto one of our MBP, well half the team is looking over our shoulder on a school bus (a little cramped!) and it would be nice if we could use another MBP to mirror what is being downloaded and watched on one MBP so more players could see it.
Thanks in advance!

If they both have Mac OS X Leopard, you can use the built in screen sharing.

  • Eizo monitor and Video Mirror Function with Macbook Pro

I have just purchased an eizo monitor and it won't let me open the 'colouredge program that comes with it until I disable video mirror function   How do i do that on a Macbook pro?

    For example:
According to this: http://www.cable-modem.net/broadbandarticles/comcastspeed.html T1 service providers offer 1.544 Mbps download and upload speeds and Comcast has long offered high-speed broadband connections with 6 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload speeds; but with the advent of DOCSIS 3.0 technology, Comcast cable modems can now access the Internet at wideband speeds as high as 50 Mbps at affordable prices.
You can see, download speed is not a big advantage of a T1 line.

DVD drives read the bottom of the disk, not the top. Smooth out the paper & try again.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
AirPlay Mirroring is supported on your Mac, but it needs OS X Mountain Lion (10.8). See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404
    You have two possibilities:
    1. Make a backup, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion to upgrade to this OS X. Then, you will find the AirPlay Mirroring icon at the top right of the display, on the menu bar, or on System Preferences > Displays.
    2. Keep OS X Lion and use AirParrot > http://www.airparrot.com
Both options work properly, but I recommend AirPlay Mirroring as it doesn't need a third-party program

  • ? on upgrading to MacBook Pro from MacBook

I need more screen real estate and love the metal look of the MacBook Pro, any comments from anyone who has upgraded, good or bad.
Specifically, have you had any connectivity issues on the MBP?

I first bought the black Macbook for the mobility and I loved it and still do. But I do a lot of work with Photoshop and video and thought it would be better to have a larger display and I wanted more USB and firewire ports. Also, I wanted the lighted keyboard. I too love the look of the Macbook Pro. So I bought the 17" and I have to say it's my favorite computer.
I haven't had any problems with it. The display is much better than my Powerbook G4. You will not be disappointed. I haven't experienced any connectivity problems.

  • MacBook air versus MacBook Pro

Which is better for video editing: MacBook air or MacBook pro? Which is more durable? What is the difference?

both will do the job for your.
the macbook air having a better resolution than the 13 Inch Macbook Pro.
the macbook air is lighter but not by much if comparing to a 13 Inch Macbook Pro.
the macbook pro however, comes with an optical drive and the macbook air does not.
the macbook pro's memory is upgradeable and the macbook air's memory is fixed.
the best solution for you, go to the apple store or best buy and compare them side by side.
i own 2 macbook pros - a 13 inch and 15 inch - upgraded the RAM to 16GB in both of them and took the hard drive off and installed SSDs in them.  Now I have a very fast Macbook Pro.

  • Mac Pro vs MacBook Pro?

Hello everyone. I have a question about the mac pro vs the macbook pro. Since the new laptops were released, they seem to put up a pretty good fight against the mac pro. I have an early 2008 8 core w/ 8gb ram, nvidia 8800gt and ati. 3tb hdd, dual superdrive. i use it for normal use but also editing in final cut pro in 1080i avchd video and audio. i was thinking that in a year i was going to upgrade it to whatever new mac pro comes out because in a year it will be 4 years old, and much newer technology will be available. But now that the new MBPs are out, i am considering selling it and getting the 17 inch. The big hard drive, thunderbolt, great gpu, hyperthreading processor with turbo boost to double the number of virtual cores seems pretty compelling. on top of that, my current 2007 mbp broke and i am out of a laptop. The thing i love about laptops is the portability.
So what does everyone think. Is the 17inch powerful enough to handle what i do on my mac pro, and in your opinion should i switch?
    thanks

The old MBP already handles pretty good, I've been using my MBP "2.66 / 8GB Ram" for heavy Final cut studio, editing lengthy HD footage, grading with Color, animation using Motion and this machine has never crashed on me not even once.
With the new generation of MBPs I think that things can be done even faster and thunderbolt technology is surly a welcome option for FCP user as it's gonna accelerate the whole editing experience.
some new benchmarks are showing the top of the line MBP to be even faster than actual MPs!
I do have a quad MacPro, but soon after I got the 27" Cinema display for my MBP I'm almost not using my MP anymore, so me too I'm considering selling it.
All this however does not mean MPs are doomed, the expandability it offers is phenomenal and portables won't match that.
in your case, if portability is more important than expandability then get the MBP, my advise is to get the 15" + an Apple cinema display, with such a configuration you have the best of both words.

  • MacBook Pro or MacBook Air for college

    Hi guys!
So this is the typical college question from a mac lover, do I get the air or the pro?  Currently my major is undeclared, but I'm looking into engineering.  At the moment I don't do a lot of work with video and photography, but I am hoping to get more into that stuff although it wouldn't be like getting a major or a minor in it.  More like just fiddling around.  I usually watch a lot of DVDs and I have a fairly large music library.  I'm hoping to just use netflix and get rid of some old music next year but chances are that won't happen.
Currently I have just the regular old MacBook circa 2010.  I like it, although it is soooooo slow now like it literally takes 10 minutes to open up safari for the first time after shutting it down, not the mention the screen has started to go awry (which is all my fault, don't step on your macs because it does not end well).  I justt need an upgrade for next year.
I like that the air is light and has a super good battery, however I don't know if I like how slow it is.  I like the pro because its faster, comes in a 15" and is just all around more powerful, however I don't like the battery life quite so much and I don't know if the size would be the much of a big deal.  If anyone wants to suggest the 11" air, I'm just bonn stop you right here because that is not happening.
I'm kinda leaning toward the air, but every time I go to purchase it something inside me asks if that what I really want.
Alright so what are everybody's thought! Thank you!

I recommend you a Macbook Pro (preferably maxed out in the specs). I'm studying Mechanical Engineering and so far it has worked marvels for me. The Macbook pro is a little heavier than the MBA, however i feel that what you should really look for is performance and not merely things like weight (specially if its so little difference). As for the battery, I don't know in your college, but in my we have ALL around the campus TONS of power outlets, so that shouldn't matter. So yeah.. between MacBook Pro and MacBook aire definitively Macbook Pro

  • MacBook Pro vs MacBook Air for online college?

I'm starting grad school in another month or so (MA in Education and a k-8 teaching credential). The entire program will be ONLINE with WGU (Western Governors University). I'd love to buy and use just a MacBook Air, but I wonder whether it will be sufficient for an online program? My other option is a MacBook Pro.
    Any thoughts?

    define sufficient
If you plan on much/ larger video editing then get the Pro.
I own both, and love both,... prefer the Air a bit more for portability, however that is purely subjective.
The NEW macbook Pro and Air are extremely close in form factor
The newest macbook Pro is essentially a larger macbook Air with Retina display and options for speed in increasing prices up to an independent graphics and quad core processor.
both Air and new Pro now have PCIe SSD and permanent RAM.
The Air is the lightweight portable form factor, fast to boot and shut down, but with longer battery life than any of the macbook pro in 13"
Now the new macbook Pro and macbook Air are extremely close in form factor and nature.
    both have 802ac wifi
both have permanent RAM, no superdrive
both are slim profiles and SSD
The only real differences now are (in the most expensive Pros) faster processors and quadcore processors and top end model autonomous graphics, also HDMI output on the new macbook Pros!. ....and of course the retina display
both are now "very good for travel"
DETAILED bench tests between the new AIR and the new PRO here:
    http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013/11/how-to-choose-13-inch-macbook-air-vs-13-i nch-retina-macbook-pro/2/
Other than features the form factor of the Air and Pro are VERY close now,....so now its merely a matter of features and price more than anything.
You need an external HD regardless of what you get for backups etc.   Drop into an Apple store and handle both and make your choice based on features, such as Retina or non-retina, .... both at a distance now look like the same computer.
The Pro weighs more, ....but nowhere near what it used to just a month ago on the older macbook Pros
The NEW macbook Pro is a different creature entirely than the older macbook Pro, .....the new Pro is thicker than the Air, but id frankly call the NEWEST Pro a "macbook Air with Retina display" , or
Maybe a “macbook Air PRO with Retina display”
Instead of Air vs. Pro now,.....its really a smooth transition from Air to pro without comparing say, 2 different creatures, now its like contrasting a horse from a race horse (rough analogy)
Either one in 8gig of RAM (preferably)... the 4gig upgrade costs very little,  the I7 you will notice only 15% faster on heavy applications over the I5, and NOTHING on most APPS.....I5 has longer battery life.
As you see below, the non-Retina 13" AIR is 82% of the Macbook with Retina display in resolution
there is no magical number of pixels per inch that automatically equates to Retina quality.

what you WONT READ on Apple.com etc. is that the larger SSD  are much faster due to SSD density

  • MacBook Air vs MacBook Pro?  HELP

I know everybody asks this, but there are as many answers for one as there are for the other.
My wife is a clinical nursing instructor and is in desparate need of a new laptop.  The only thing she really does on a computer is browse the internet and grade papers.  Literally, if she used anything other than Safari, Pages/Word, Skype, and iTunes, I would be shocked.  I could see her getting into editting family photos, videos, etc but only with the basic Apple apps for that - nothing like Adobe products.
With this little demand, it seems as though the Air would be the choice.  However, the portability isn't a need because she won't be taking the laptop to the hospital with her and if she really needs that, we have an iPad.
I would like the laptop to last as long as possible (the $1200 price tag) is somewhat painful.  But I switched to Mac in grad school and once you go Mac, you never go back.  I couldn't bear the thought of buying a Windows - esp Windows 8 - laptop.  My thought though is that the Pro would last longer bc it has beefier hardware that would stand up to software upgrades and heavier, more demanding software that is bound to come in the next few years.  But as I said before, with the software she'll actually be using, will it ever get to a point where it would really tax the processor and memory of the Air?
These are the questions I struggle with.  I think she would like the Air better because of the weight, mass, etc but the logical part of my brain says the Pro.
    HELP.  Please.

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air forums. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.
