MacBook Pro to Panasonic Plasma HDMI

Hello: I want to connect video out to my Panasonic ... how do I do this?
Thanks

If you want video and audio you'll need something like this adapter and an HDMI cable
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?cid=104&cp_id=10428&cs_id=1042802&pid=5969&seq=1&format=2
If you just want video then you need a displayport to DVI adapter and a DVI to HDMI cable

How to connect macbook pro to panasonic hd tv with hdmi cable

    Hi m,
It depends which MPB you have and the inputs on the TV. The following assumes your TV has an HDMI input which will work with a computer.
This is if your MBP is from April 2010 or newer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241
First connect the adapter to the MBP and the HDMI cable from the adapter to the TV, then go to System Preferences > Sound > Output > select HDMI.
Or if your MBP is older than that and you have a Mini DisplayPort, you can use something like this: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/CBLMDPHDMID/
If it's older than that, for video you need a DVI or mini DVI to HDMI or whatever input your TV has. For audio, you need a 3.5mm stereo mini plug to RCA or optical (Toslink), depending on what audio input your TV has.

    If your Macbook has a Mini Display port and you want to connect it to an HDMI input on your TV you can use the Apple adapter available here;

  • Macbook Pro to TV via HDMI - image way off center

Early 2008 15-inch Macbook Pro to TV via HDMI worked at first, now image is way off center on TV (like only showing a sliver of the computer image at the edge of the TV screen). Philips says it's an issue with the computer settings, not the TV. Any suggestions?

    Hello clamb1993,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
You can use the following article to troubleshoot your HDMI out connection:

  • Connecting a Samsung 5500 32" Smart TV to Macbook Pro using a Belkin HDMI to MiniDisplay Port.

I have a new Samsung 5500 32" Smart TV, and I'm trying to connect it to my Macbook Pro using a Belkin HDMI to MiniDisplay Port. The computer will not recognize the TV as a display (the arrangement tab will not show up) and the TV will not show the computer as a source. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry correction. That is a Mini DP port to HDMI that I am trying but I get no indication Mac is seeing TV. Please help.....

  • Close MacBook Pro while using MDP- HDMI adaptor ?

I have the Moshi MDP-HDMI adaptor. It works very well and transports audio well too.
I just want to know if it is possible to close the lid of the MacBook Pro while using MDP->HDMI adaptor ? (as in stopping it from going into sleep mode) So that it can be stowed neatly under the display unit when watching movies/presentations etc. rather than the lid having to be open a couple of inches...

That can be done but there are conditions that must be met. For example, the MBP needs to be plugged into its power adapter. And then an external keyboard and mouse are needed. See here:

Can't have sound on my TV when I connect it on my MacBook Pro 2011, with the HDMI adaptor.
On SOUND preferences, I don't have the option for chosing HDMI on the OUTPUT sound.

Do you have another HDMI port that you can switch to on the TV? Is the tv source on the matching HDMI port with the volume up? After checking those try the following:

  • Macbook pro to Panasonic Viera GT30 TV?

I have a brand new 15 inch Macbook pro with a high res antiglare screen. I connected it to my brand new Panasonic Viera GT30 plasma TV via an HDMI cable and a Moshi minidisplay port to HDMI adapter. The computer is in mirror mode and the resultion automatically goes to 1080p. The desktop does appear on the television, however the problem is that the picture that appers ont the TV does not fit the whole screen. the top and bottom is cut off slightly and the right and left have blak bars on them. Why is this? Is there anyway to fix this?
Every video i watch of people hooking up their new macs to their tv's shows the desktop or video they r playing filling the whole tv screen. I would like to do the same. Thx!

  • Hooking up MacBook to 50" Panasonic Plasma?

I am using the Apple mini-dvi to vga adapter along with a 6' vga cable to hook up my macbook to my 50" panasonic plasma (full specs: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Specifications-of-Panasonic-50-Plasma-HDTV-TH-50P Z700U/sem/rpsm/oid/175537/rpem/ccd/productDetailSpecification.do#tabs)
My problem is that only half (maybe even less) of the listed resolutions for the external display (TV) seem to work. None of them take up the entire screen, and none of them look good. Image is shifted, fuzzy, cropped on top and bottom. OS X does not list 1920x1080 as a supported resolution for the TV.
Can anyone shed some light on this situation for me? I don't really know what i'm doing here!

    Hi Mike,
If I am not mistaken apple stated that macbook support up to 23" external lcd using 1440 x 900 resolution.
Some user managed to go over 23" and slightly higher resolution. But if the screen doesn't run on its native resolution it will become fuzzy as you described earlier.
Try mini dvi to dvi and get one of the dvi to hdmi adapter like this http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=3570, and you might get some luck.
    Good Luck.
Do consult your panasonic or circuit city guy before you decided to give mini dvi to dvi with adapter a shot.

  • Having Problems connecting MacBook Pro to Panasonic TV

    Hello Forum!
This is my first post on here. I am a long time mac lover and have recently been trying to connect my MacBook Pro to my 42inch Panasonic Viera TV (TX-P42X10B)
I am using a DVI to VGA adapter and then a VGA to HDMI cable.
Now my MacBook detects the 'Panasonic-TV' but the TV screen stays black.
Now I have turned them both off and on at the same time and turned the resolution down as suggested on the my computers help - 'If the TV screen is black, select a lower resolution in Displays preferences.' But the screen stays black.
I am selected the correct port on the TV by the way!!
Thanks for reading and please help!!

However, I still don't get a view of anything on the desktop except for the standard Apple swirl.
Can you drag windows to the other display?
In the "Arrangement" tab of "Displays" system preference, you can drag the display pictures to match the actual arrangement, drag the menu bar to the other display, or enable mirroring.

  • Macbook Pro conected to Plasma TV causes mouseover problem

I just bought a Samsung PS42A466 plasma TV and hooked it up to my Macbook Pro (early 2009 model) via a Minidisplay Port to DVI adapter - DVI to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable to TV.
I duplicate the desktop in order to get Quicktime to displey the video in fullscreen on the TV.
Sometimes, after a while something strange happens:
It seems the computer stops registering mouseover. For example when i move the cursor, the video controls in fullscreen dont appear. when i exit fullscreen my dock doesnt appear when i move the cursor to the bottom of the screen (i have autohide dock on). No other type of mouse over seems to work either.
I have tried dissconnecting the cable to the TV, this does not help. After a restart of my mac, everything is back to normal.
This has never happened before i connected my mac and my new tv.
I regularly connect my mac to a second display at work, also a samsung btw.
Does anyone have the same problem? I would appreciate some help.
    Thanks
    /Martin

    Hi.
Try adjusting the screen aspect ratio on the tv. This may sort it fir you.

  • Trying to watch macbook pro on Panasonic   HD Plazma

I am trying to watch my Macbook Pro on my Panasonic Plazma.  It has a PC select in the menu.  I have hooked it up using a HDMI to what looks like a mini firewire connection.
The picture is all static with an occasional flash of my computer screen.  Help!

I Would have thought PC Select was for a VGA or DVI connector.
For HDMI I would expect one of the available HDMI input sources.
If selecting the HDMI port you plugged into does not work, try resetting the PRAM and then try resetting the SMC (google will help in finding reset instructions)

  • Watch Hulu from Macbook Pro to Panasonic HD TV

    Hi,
I want to show my parents the show "Who Do You Think You Are" and it is on IMDB for free (hulu).  They would prefer to watch it on the television.  I have a 'mid-2010' Macbook Pro 13 inch and a late 2009 Panasonic HD flatscreen television 31 inch.  Is there a way to connect my laptop to the tv without having an HDMI cable?
