MacBook Pro to Viewsonic 22-inch VX2250WM-LED monitor "Sparkly Pixels"
When I initially unpacked and set up my Viewsonic monitor, I connected it using a minidisplay to DVI adapter. There were "sparkly pixels" turning off and on rapidly across the screen in random places--not colors, just white. I thought maybe it was electronic interference and moved things around on the desk, moved the computer further away, but still the sparkly bits persisted.
I then turned off the monitor, waited, turned it on again, same problem.
I then disconnected the DVI cable and instead used my VGA to minidisplayport adapter and plugged into the VGA port on the monitor. Sparkly bits gone. Can anyone tell me what they were? I could repeat this and attach a video if that helped.
Interesting: After using the VGA cable, I thought I'd try the DVI cable again. And those off/on pixels were gone. So I don't know what that was about but if you have a similar situation, try what I did...

Will A 27 Inch Samsung LED Monitor work on my Macbook pro?
I have a Mid 2009 Macbook Pro and I am not sure what ports it has. I see 2 ports apart from the USB (2 ports), Power and LAN. I am planning to buy a 27 inch Samsung LED monitor for the laptop. Here are the Macbook specs:
Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 Ghz
Memory - 8 GB
Graphic - NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
VRAM - 256 MB
I have read that even if I buy a monitor with speakers, I won't be able to get sound from them. What are my options if I buy a monitor with or without speakers? Will I need to connect to speakers using USB? The monitor has an HDMI port... in that case what cable will I need to connect the monitor to my MBP?
Thanx in advance for all your help.Well you are in luck (I think) because the 2009 models actually output sound via HDMI with minidisplay port.**
you'll need to get this Mini DP
http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/Moshi_Mini_DisplayPort_to_HDMI_Adapt er?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
and an hdmi cord, and then just plug and play!

** to see if your model is compatible with outputting audio from minidisplay port.
in the comments from MM in Orlando, it says:
The best solution, instead of trying to figure out the date your mac was born and the cut-off, etc...
1. Click on the Apple Icon in the top left corner of the screen.
2. Click "About this Mac."
3. Click "More Info."
4. Click on "Audio (Built In)." *** If you see "HDMI Output or HDMI/DisplayPort Output
- Then you are GOLDEN!!!! If not, you are like me and extremely frustrated
if you're out of luck like me, you can also try to get a miniToslink to Toslink cord, that is if your new samsung led supports it. I run mine into a 5.1 reciever so it doesn't matter if my monitor has one or not. -
Macbook Pro retina display 13 inch 2014 model stopped charging. Charger LED also not on while plugged in. The battery fully drained off so the system can not be started but the system can detect the charger when earlier it was switched on before draining off the charge. Charger type magsafe 60W.
Once you have examined the power inlet on the computer for dirt, and made certain that the pins on the end of the MagSafe cord are free to move in and out to make contact, there is very little you can do yourself.
You will need to visit your Apple Store (FREE with appointment) or your Apple-Authorized Service Provider (policy varies). They work on these all the time and have good expertise and lots of spare parts to try to determine the problem. -

your 13-inch Mid 2009 MacBook Pro requires 1066 MHz RAM, but you have 1333 MHz RAM installed. Try replacing the 1333 MHz RAM with 1066 MHz RAM — Macs can be picky about the RAM which they find acceptable. -

How do I get more memory for my Macbook Pro spring 2010 13-inch with 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Apple says no memory currently available for that model. I have 4 GB memory and 3.99 used. Help!

Also what do you mean that actual memory is 16GB but with Apple it's 8?
When I go to the "About this Mac" it says Memory 4G 1067 MHz DDR3, then when I go to System Report it says
Memory Slot
Bank 0/ DIMM0 2G DDR3 1067 MHZ OK
Bank 1/ DIMM0 2G DDR3 1067 MHZ OK
Sorry I'm clueless. Just don't want to buy something that messes up my machine more than it already is.
The Crucial site appears to have recommended the correct spec 4gB RAM stick for your model. Please note that you will need to remove the existing sticks of RAM to install new, so you will need 2x4gB to get to 8gB.
When your model of computer was designed/built, it was tested with readily available 2x4gB (8gB). After release RAM retailers have tested it with higher amounts, and Apple didn't update their quoted specs. -
What are the things required to upgrade internal hard drive For Macbook Pro mid 2012 13 inch?
Hi,
I want to upgrade my internal drive but I don't know how to do that. I have already purchased a WD 1TB internal hard drive. However, I contacted apple support and they said if I try to upgrade the hdd myself, then the warranty of the macbook would be void. I am from India . I currently have a Macbook Pro mid 2012,13 inch.
Also, do i need to download a setup of Yosemite before changing the hdd?
Please guide me
Thanks and Regards
Abhineet AroraYou know what the impact will be on the warranty terms. If you want to install it yourself, look at this video:
http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/macbookpro_13_unibody_mid12_hd/
It is not very difficult. You will need a #00 Phillips and a #6 Torx drivers.

I am going to university this fall for engineering and I was wondering which macbook pro (13 or 15 inch) would be better. Is the larger screen worth the extra weight ? I will be doing some computer programming and I feel like reading code on a smaller screen could be a bit of a pain. Also, what is the best option in terms of backup? I don't anticipate having a lot of video but I will have some pictures, music files as well as regular documents and spreadsheets. I'd also like to get an idea of how good the battery life is. Thanks in advance:)
The 13" will do the trick for what you describe as your needs, Be sure to consider how you will backup your data -- need an external drive?
Also be sure to check with your college or division of study to see what they recommend. If they are hostile to Macs, you may be on your own for finding support. But in most major cities, that will not be too hard. -
My macbook pro 2.33 17 inch takes 9 minutes to start and does not start with lion
my macbook pro 2.33 17 inch takes 9 minutes to start on Snow Leopard and does not go beyond the apple log start up with lion.
When I am using Snow Leopard after it has finished the starting process; everything works well..it is just the 9.10 minutes it takes to
boot that I don't understand + I want to upgrade to lion, but it get stock in the apple logo and the little while just keeps on spinning eternally.
I feel I am in purgatory...:-)

Apple removed some Retina MacBooks Pro and started selling other ones with slightly better hardware last week. If you have this MacBook, you can continue using it because, although Apple has upgraded the hardware, changes aren't big compared to your MacBook Pro model
