Macbook pro trade in?

I just bought my MacBook Pro in January and was wondering if i could trade in this one for the new MacBook Pro?

Well, I've always managed to be satisfied with what I had until it was old enough that it needed to be replaced (except for the cats.) We've always kept the cats until they died before replacing them with new cats.
But I'm a gadget hound. I love new gadgets, so it's always tempting to buy the next new thing, but I usually resist. I got an early 2011 MBP 13" to add to my current collection and an iPad 3. But I always have someone who gets the older models. Either I give them to my wife or to charity.
I have a 2006 Mac Pro I'd like to replace but it still works. It can't run Mountain Lion but that's no big deal to me. I think I'll hang on to it until it just dies. If I ever do replace it I will probably get a top-end iMac unless Apple does come out with a really new Mac Pro next year (hinted by Tim Cook.)

  • Is there anyway to either trade in your old Macbook Pro for a new version, or get a new power cord when the old one has been damaged?

Well i was just wondering.. since i do have a older version of the Macbook Pro.. and the fact that the power cord has been damaged

You can always get a price on what an Apple affiliate would give you for your old MacBook Pro by going to http://www.apple.com/recycling/gift-card/faq.html and reading the instruction for the reuse program. Or you can sell your old one on eBay (that's what I did - you'll get more for it). Apple doesn't do a simple trade-in.
Your cheapest route is just to buy a new adapter. If you don't know which adapter to get, call Apple and they can tell you, or visit your local Apple Store. They're about $80.
    Good luck,

  • Can I trade my old MacBook Pro to MacBook Air OR iPad?

Hello, I bought a MacBook Pro 13 inch last year around August, if I want to buy a MacBook Air 13 inch OR iPad, is there have any trade-in plan exist? Or I can sell the old one to Apple Store to trade some money? Thanks.

Apple Store > Recycle and Reuse Program > PowerOn
I have been hoodwinked.  PowerOn has gained a perfectly fine power adapter and accessories, but refuses to fairly trade with compensation.
PowerOn stated the adapter was damage/defective, but oddly wanted to keep it and not mail it back.  It sounds like they found a reason to decrease the offered price for my laptop, but keep the power adapter and accessories. Very Crooked; especially when I know I have been using those items over the past 6 years with no problems.
I understand that the reuse program is at will and subject to PowerOn's appraisal; however, I was informed that the only option I had was for PowerOn to keep a portion of my trade-in with no compensation or there would be no agreement at all.  This is a deal at gunpoint. I would NOT recommend giving  PowerOn your business. It is hard to believe Apple, who has great service, endorses a crooked company like PowerOn.
You may be better off at your local pawn shop, where I would at least expect to be hustled.

  • Can I trade Macbook Pro's and all it's contents with another one?

Does anyone know how to trade MacBook pros?  My wife and I want to swap macbooks it that possible to swap all their contents?

It's possible but not quick, you will need to make a complete backup of each Mac, then erase them both, then restore the backups to the machine you want them to be on.
Unless you have 10.7 or newer you will also need the original discs that came with the machine(s)
You will also need 2 external drives to house the backups until restored.

  • Hi i have a macbook and I want to see if I can trade it in for a MacBook pro or a MacBook air

hi i have a macbook and i want to see if i can trade it in for a macbook pro or a macbook mini

Apple does not have any trade in program for computers.  You can sell yours privately and buy what you wish.  Or you can try one of the recycle or online buy-back services (e.g. www.gazelle.com, amazon recycle, bestbuy recycle, etc).

  • Trade in macbook pro

i see on the Apple recycle scheme where you may trade your old computers in for money
however when i am saying what compuetr i have i only see options for older macbooks
i am wondering do Apple buy back the 2011 models of their computers , because they do sell them in their 'refurbished' store
    thank you

On the page for the Apple recycling program, the newest macbook pros they will buy are the  Early 2011 models.  At least in the U.S. store.  I just checked.
I looked at that once.  Not good prices.
I should tell you the story about how I sold an iBook (not the app, the MacBook predecessor) on eBay a couple of years ago.  I thought I'd get $200.  Way over.  People just love Apple products (and admittedly, the iBook was cool).  I wanted to buy a Newton, new in box, that I saw just as a collectors piece.  Sold for over $1000.  That was over the top.

  • Will Apple give me anything to trade-in a water-damaged (still functional but hurting) MacBook Pro [Purchased new Dec. 2010]?

Will Apple give me anything to trade-in a water-damaged (still functional but hurting) MacBook Pro [Purchased new Dec. 2010]?
    Any feedback/advice is greatly appreciated!
    Thank you

The techs at Apple do have some lattitude in what they can offer. And it won't hurt to ask, and if they did help you out, it would be your one and only "save" for the rest of your life probably. Since you bought yours back in 2010, I doubt they would do anything. If it were a brand new unit, they may have some sympathy. But in your case, I'd say probably not.

  • HT1752 Can I trade in a vintage MacBook Pro?

I want a newer MacBook Pro. I have a vintage (2007) and it's 15 or 17 inch, I'm not sure. What is Apple's policy? Can I trade it in? If so, what is the discount I get, if any? Thank you!

  • I have a macbook mid 2007 should i up trade it in for a newer macbook pro

I have a macbook refurbished mid 2007 should i update it for a newer version or a macbook pro?

I have the late 2007 model also, and I am pulling my hair bcause I cannot run anything newer than the Snow Leopard OS, which leaves me with no cloud connectivity, and I cannot run the new iLife... which leaves my iPhone and iPad out of sync (calendars, etc!), and I cannot use my Pages, Numbers, etc on my laptop.
If you just need a machine that is not quite so old and sluggish, you should absolutely invest in more RAM, perhaps a bigger or an additional external hard drive, depending on use.
If you have any other iDevice that uses the newest iOS, do yourself a favor, and if possible, get that new laptop.

  • Looking to buy new MacBook Pro for editing with Premiere/After Effects, but wondering about trade-off between Processor Speed and Graphics Card

I'm a professional video editor (using Premiere and After Effects) looking to buy a new MacBook Pro and am deciding between two models. The slightly older model has a 2.8GHZ i7 (3rd generation) Quad Core processor with a 1GB SDRAM of NVIDIA GE FORCE GT 650M Graphics Card. Then newer model has a 2.3GHZ i7 (4th generation) Quad Core preocessor with 2GB SDRAM of NVIDIA GE FORCE 750M/Intel Iris Pro Graphics Card.
Which makes the most difference (processor speed vs. graphics card) with editing with Premiere and After Effects?
Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    1. Your MBP will be somewhat slower than your iMac, as reflected in the general speed; desktop Macs have more RAM and storage.
You recon? If he get's the 17", he would have up to 8x more RAM, 4 x more GPU,, and  a bit faster CPU;.
    2. Be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of extra RAM. Loading up the slot will make juggling multiple applications easier, like Photoshop, VLC, and Safari. However, more than 4gigs of RAM will make loading your MBP on startup twice as slow - at least a minute, probably longer. That's why a MBP user with extra RAM should sleep their machine nearly always when not in use, rather than powering off.
I did not know this, I just upgraded from 4gb to 8gb the other day. Have not noticed it being slower, but I don't often shut it down. It's nice to not even have to bother with ifreemem.
    3. Additional storage and RAM will maximize the basic capabilities of your MBP, but you won't be able to make a 2.3ghz machine any faster than it already is.

    4. I still feel that your iMac will be faster than your prospective MBP. The only way to dramatically increase the speed would be the installation of a SSD drive (like the lauded OWC series). But they're not cheap.
I don't want to rain on your parade, but want you to get a more realistic idea of your performance.
I chose a macbook pro, 17" of cause. I use it for gaming. Yes a iMac is better for gaming. But, it's nice to be able to move around. Set up a man cave in the lounge 1 week, or in the bedroom, the next. But you fork out a lot more dosh for that luxury. And yes, not as much power as Poikkeus has said.
