Macbook pro turns off and reboots randomly

Hi I need help My 2010 unibody Macbook Pro is driving me nutz !!! Does anyone have any idea WHAT would cause my 2010 Macbook Pro to shut off and reboot randomly all by itself ? I took it to a computer storre for repair they placed the RAM and charged me 126.00 yet its still happening not as frequently but it's not fixed. Grateful for any help you can give.

Hello sweetbrandigirl2004,
Based on your post it seems your computer is shutting down at random. That does sound troublesome. After your computer shuts down, do you see any messages or errors displayed? The following article offers some troubleshooting steps you may want to explore:

  • MacBook Pro Turned Off and Won't Reboot

I had been playing a video game for about an hour. Afterwards, I strated surfing the net and in about 15 seconds, the computer just turned off. I noticed it was rediculously hot, so I inplugged it, removed the battery, and let it sit until it cooled off.
After I reinstalled the battery, I held the power button and nothing really happened. The front LED turned on, but no other activity whatesoever took place; not a sound. So, I held the power button and the indicator turned off.
It's almost like the thing is completely dead. I would appreciate any help, because I am a student, and I really can't afford to have it fixed.

    As an update:
I listened more carefully, and it seems like the hard drive is spinning up; however, the computer does not make what sounds like the optical drive ejecting, nor is there any sound or picture.
The activity is actually barely audible.
    Thanks again.

  • MacBook Pro turned off on its own and now won't turn back on.

MacBook Pro turned off on its own and now won't turn back on.  Battery had 41% just before this happened and green indicator on power cord is showing, so it seems like it's charging.  What should I do?

The led on the power adapter should be amber if it is charging.  Green just indicates that it is supplying power to the MBP.
    Try a SMC reset:

  • Macbook Pro shut off and won't turn on or charge?

I purchased my Macbook Pro August 1st 2012 at Best Buy and in April it shut off for no reason and it wouldn't charge. Apple replaced the battery cable and my Macbook worked for a couple of weeks, then in May same thing happened and Apple replaced the MLB, a couple days later the same thing happens and Apple replaces the Magsafe board with cable. Then a few days later specific keys on the keyboard stop working and Apple replaces the topcase with keyboard. Now 120 days later my Macbook Pro shuts off and won't charge for the 4th time. My Macbook is now out of warranty but I don't think I should pay since this is the 4th time my MacBook Pro shuts off for no reason and won't charge. Yes I already tried reseting the smc, still didn't work. What could be causing this and is there anyway Apple will cover this since is the 4th time it shuts off for no reason?

Call Apple Customer relation and explain your situation. Have your receipts for the work that was already preformed on it and ask them to replace it with a new unit.

  • Mac book pro, Turns off and goes under protection especially with an External monitor on.

    Mac book pro,
Turns off and goes under protection, sometimes without any specific motivation, but most of the time when an External monitor is pluged-in.
I use it when I work with final cut pro, and this problem it's becoming huge and changing my workplans....
It can turns off also 10 times in two hours.
In many forums I read that the CPU temp could be the problem, but I've checked it and It's always around 62°-68°....
In some others they say that the new RAM could be the problem too.
Is anybody able to help me? (Underneath you can check the Panic Report and my mac informations)
    Thank you so much.
    Antonio

However mine skips this completely and just turns off. WHY? does this mean the battery is bad?
Resetting the PRAM (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/26871.html) fixed the problem in my case. then i did the calibrate the battery again this time it went to sleep not shut down i did this 3 more times why?
the 3 forced shut downs without entering SafeSleep. with logs indicating improper shutdown, will that cause severe corruption to the os and do i have to reinstall the os now?2.66 ghz 2010

macbook pro turns off when i unpliug

You either need to plug in your charger and if that isn't working if your machine is less than a year old take it in to your nearst Apple Store and let them deal with it. Or if you are out of warrantee you will need to get a new battery for your Mac

This is a current sensor on the power bus. This seems consistent with your symptoms.
A faulty sensor on the logic board means  the board has to be replaced,  take in for repair:

  • Macbook pro turns off when i charge it

My Macbook pro (2013 500mb 13') works fine but occasionally it will just turn off randomly when I'm using it. I have noticed recently that it happens particularly when I plug it in to charge. I am fully able to turn it straight back on after it turns off and it works normally again. It probably happens twice a day, I have it updated to the most recent updates and I have tried resetting the SMC and PRAM but nothing seems to work.

    Resetting SMC may help.

  • Macbook Pro turns off when I put my iPhone by the left speaker

I have a Retina Macbook Pro from 2012 and an iPhone 5c.  When I put my iPhone in a certain spot just under the left speaker of the computer, the computer will go into sleep mode without any buttons being pressed.  Is this something I should be concerned about, because it seems really odd.

Magnets inside the iPhone can trigger sleep. That is normal.
Keep iPhone away from the MBP.
When you close the lid, magnets placed inside the lid triggers the sleep.
