MacBook Pro - VGA Problem ?

Hey there,
I own an Apple MacBook Pro 13" i5 which i bought last year. Mountain Lion is running on it and everything works just fine.
Today i wanted to show a presentation to my class.
I connected the very old VGA Beamer via the VGA - Thunderbolt adapter and nothing happened.
The MacBook recognized the Beamer in the Monitor Settings but that was all that happened.
The Beamer just showed a Blue screen and said "looking for VGA-Signal" ... nothing else happened
Any Ideas ?
Thanks a lot

How did you install Windows? Did you use Bootcamp Assistant or did you use a virtual machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox.
If you used Bootcamp Assistant, did you download and install the Windows Support software (drivers) in accordance with the Bootcamp instructions?

  • How to output Macbook Pro VGA to LCD TV in full screen mode?

I Have a Macbook Pro 2007 with DVI to VGA output. I have connected it to my Toshiba LCD TV and am able to get a screen image on the TV without any difficulty. The problem is that the TV display is not full screen. I can't find any way to increase the size of the picture on the TV. Is this a limitation of the output or the TV display?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Macbook17Pro,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You may need to set the resolution on your Mac's display settings to match the resolution of your tv.

  • Macbook Pro - VGA monitor compatibility?

    Hi there,
I just bought a new MacBook Pro i5 to return to the Apple fold after many years of being forced to wander the Windows desert (with Linux oasis stops along the way) and I'm having a problem with external displays.  I bought a Thunderbolt-VGA adapter and have an older VGA LCD monitor (NEC Multisync 1850e) that I'd like to use for an extended desktop.  I also can borrow my wife's 21" Dell LCD display for testing.  Here's what happens with BOTH monitors and both video cables regardless of the combination. I hook either one of them up to the Thunderbolt port via the adapter and both monitors go into powersave mode, as if they are not connected to anything.  The Mac does NOT detect either of them, no matter what I do, reboot the Mac with the monitors connected, or connect the monitors after startup, no additional displays ever appear in the Display utility.  And of course, both monitors work fine on both Windows machines that we have in the house.  I have been unable to find a list of Thunderbolt compatible displays and wonder if these monitors are just too old for some reason (~5 yrs), but then SVGA is SVGA as a video format n'est pas?  And yes, I have the latest software updates on 10.7.2 which included a Thunderbolt SW update that didn't help.
Any suggestions besides going to the Apple store and getting another Thunderbolt-VGA adapter which I'm going to do now?
    TIA,
    dr.odd

Is this a REAL Apple TB/Mini Displayport adapter?
I tried one of the aftermarket adapters, $7.00 cheaper, and it didn't work, Nothing/Nada.
Took it back and bought the Apple adapters, yes both VGA & DVI, and they both worked first time.
If you have REAL Apple adapter/s try going into Display properties and Detect Displays. Sorry I'm not at my Mac right now so I can't give youy detailed instructions but just start clicking on all options.
Funny part is MBPs, IMHO, don't handle external monitors well. When I connected my old work CRT monitor it detected it but could not get the resolution correct, at first. then there is no way to turn off the internal display without closing the lid, putting it into Clam Shell mode, but to do that you need to have a external keyboard, a mouse and the AC power connected.
    Good Luck

  • Macbook Pro Retina problem connecting to HP 23xi

    Hello Community,
I've been experiencing a problem, I bought a 13' Macbook Pro Retina. Not quite a cheap machine.
But when I connect through HDMI to my HP 23xi , the screen gets blurry and cut (which I was able to fix in the setting). I tried messing with the configurations, but it simply won't get better.
I presume it's because it is retina, of course. But I bought this monitor, a quite nice monitor a month ago, and I do not want to sell it nor throw it away.
I bought this Mac to do web design , but this is not the outcome I was expecting at all.
I've seen the other post about the RGB fix, altough I haven't tried it because it isn't very pratical, my problem is not the color, but rather the pixelated resolution that appears on the display.
    What should I do?
    My Kindest Regards,
    Luisvf7
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Looking at the specs for the MacBook,
    Thunderbolt digital video output
    Native Mini DisplayPort output
DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter (sold separately)
VGA output using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter (sold separately)
Dual-link DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter (sold separately)
    HDMI video output
Support for 1080p resolution at up to 60Hz
Support for 3840-by-2160 resolution at 30Hz
Support for 4096-by-2160 resolution at 24Hz
I would consider using a Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter for Thunderbolt digital video.
You will not achieve the 2560 x 1600 display resolution that your MacBook Pro is capable of on your HP display as the display is not capable of that. Specs for the display

  • Retina Display MacBook Pro eye problem and strain

    Hi, the name is Ben
Recently, I boought a retina display and have since been having noticeable eye problem.
(strain, fatigue, oversensativity to computer monitor/screen ligthing)
My question was, has anyone been experiencing the same.
I use my computer pretty much all day, since my work/studies are all based on it.
Still, after 2 weeks of using retina display macbook pro, I have rapidely seen my eyes
starting to hurt, being oversensitive to computer monitor (not that I can't use any, but am
very sensitive to any lighting and need particular moderation in usage)
Now true, there ARE many good habits I did not know of before,(see some examples below)
that I am trying to adopt but still (reducing only in part the problem), I must say I am rather worried,
since I have never had any similar problem in 5 yearsof using my previous 13", macbook, mid 2007.
Any commments, or suggestion  (constructive of course) would be welcome.
(few examples of of good habits  I have tried so far)
    as regularly standing (/30 min),
look at something far away for 20 second (/20 min), blinking regularly, closing eyes for a moment,
adjusting lighting in work environnement, buying an antiglare film or device (nushield) , adjusting screen position,
not working to close to screen, using bigger fonts

an hour on my MBP by itself (someone else's office, a hotel room, an airplane, my lazy sofa) and my eyes lose the ability to focus --and I'm toast.
    Ok, I'll explain why.
First off your iPad and iPhone screen is smaller, thus doesn't reflect as much as a larger display will.
Your other displays are in a static environment where you have reduced the glare or it's been reduced just by chance.
When you take the glossy screen laptop to another location without adequate environmental features to reduce glare imposed (no overhead lights, closed windows, low light etc.) on the screen, thus your getting eyestrain from the glare.
It's caused by the slightly out of focus reflections verses the screen image, your eyes are automatically refocusing between the two images.
Your solution in this matter is to apply a anti-glare film to the laptops glossy screen, unfortunately it's going to cost money and be replaced often as it gets dirty, dries out and peels at edges etc.
Ideally a anti-glare matte screen would be the choice in the first place. I use my Mac for 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and don't have the eyestrain problem anymore.

  • Adobe CS3 and MacBook Pro: any problems?

i am about to purchase a new 15" macbook pro and adobe cs3.
has anyone experienced problems or issues with cs3 running on their macbook pro?
    thanks!

    Hi,
I have purchased CS3 and I have a G5 Tower and a MBP dual 2 core (bought it 2 months ago)
Let me tell you that I am very unpleased with CS3 on both machines.
On the G5 it is 10 times slower than CS1 for some reason it takes a lot of processing power and RAM wich the G5 does poorly.
On the MBP it processes fine but I only have 1 Gig of RAM and I feel that I don't have enough. Plus it doesn't help that a laptop HD is slower at opening files so it really makes it look like it runs slow...I should of bought the 24in imac instead due to the fact that it doesn't cost 900$ to buy a extra 2 Gigs of RAM
    and the HD is faster

    Hi luisvf7,
So it seems you are having issues with your MacBook Pro not displaying properly on your external display. It does sound like a frustrating situation. Let’s see if we can get you up and running.
I would suggest that you use the steps in this article to troubleshoot the problem -

  • MacBook Pro Bluetooth problems

Anyone have any problems with BlueTooth mice and the MacBook Pro?
I've got a 2010 17" MacBook Pro running 10.7.1 (but the problem pre-dates Lion). The mouse is "jerky" meaning that when I move the mouse it doesn't follow immediately sometimes, and immediate fine control is near impossible. I've tried two different Magic Mice, swapped the batteries, etc. I've run all software updates.
The only thing I can figure is that it's the Bluetooth connection. And as best I can figure it's unique to this model machine as I didn't have these problems with the previous model.
