MacBook Pro w/ Retina Screen Problem

I have had my MacBook Pro w/ Retina for a little over 2 months now and there is this small little spot on the screen that is very noticable. It looks like a bunch of broken pixels or just a bright spot. I have noticed that it has gotten a little bit bigger since I baught the computer and I was wondering if anyone else if having this issue? If they know what it is? And possible if they know if applecare will cover it. It is really only noticeable when white is on the screen but paying this much for this beautiful display I would like it flawless. PLEASE HELP!

There is a big thread on retina display issue, read me
Not sure if your having the same issues, but I would expect anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to repair, they might be reluctant to replace as the 14 day return/refund time has passed, but it should be repaired for free under warranty "AppleCare"

  • Macbook pro with retina cursor problem?

I've been using this macbook pro with retina display for 2 weeks now and I noticed that sometimes the cursor can't click buttons on different windows. The weird thing is, i need to move the curser a few mm above the actual button i want to press and then click for it to respond but it doesn't respond when it's pointing on the actual button as though it can't see that the cursor is already there. It's quite hard to explain but I hope you guys got it. How do I fix this? is there a prblem with calibration or something? Is it a software problem or a hardware problem? I hope you guys help me. Thanks!

  • Early MacBook Pro (Week 8) screen problems

    Hi Everyone,
My MacBook is working great except for the hissing/whine from the screen - I know it is related to the screen because when I change the brightness to low the whine goes away - the screen also flickers when the brightness is down low. This MacBook is one of the earlier models from production (Week 8). I've been putting up with the whine because I use this Mac for work. I am wondering how long it takes to get your Mac back after sending it for service. Many thanks. I'll be calling Apple Service tonight.

I've had the same problem with a hissing/high pitch sound since I got my MacBook. It usually only happens with it is coming out of sleep or a low power state; which makes me wonder if the screen systems are drawing too much power. When I adjust the screen brightness to a lower level, the hiss goes away. I haven't had any other screen problems. However, sometimes the ambientlight sensor has a hard time remembering my custom keybaord backlight settings. Just some minor problems, but eventually I would like to see these issues resolved.

The same thing has happened to me several times too
I purchased mine in late Feb. or early March. For me, it first starts freezing then the pixels move around when I try to move the cursor or click anything until they take over the whole screen and I have to shut it down completely.
I originally thought it was heat-related and installed the smc fan control program to monitor temperatures & force the fans to run at a higher speed. This helped for about a month or so, although it did happen once more the other day when I had forgotten to raise the fan speeds when working on a project.
I think the GeForce 8600M GT graphics card is the culprit, causing the overheating and there's been graphics channel errors in my console each time.
We might have the same issue, but if not I don't want to hijack your thread so here's mine w/ the details...

Still no permanent fix that I know of, but fan control so far is an okay temporary one.
    Good luck

  • I just got a new Macbook Pro with Retina Screen.  Im new to Mac Computers.  I understand that there is Microsoft Office that runs on the Mac. Where do I find it? I didn't see it in the app store.  Thanks

  • Would be an Macbook Pro with Retina screen with 128gb ssd enough?

    Heya there!
I'm gonna begin with college in 2 months in The Netherlands.
I am gonna do Programming such as: Php, html, jquery, mysql and much more. (It must be to have microsoft office on my laptop, and I guess also adobe PS, Illustrator, dreamweaver and much more..)
I'm thinking of buying a macbook pro with 8gb and 128 gb ssd, but im consired if 128 gb is enough...
Should I get a macbook pro with 256gb ssd and 8 gb ram for € 1.407,23, or a macbook pro with 8 gb ram and 128 gb ssd for: € 1.314,06..
I will also get a 70 euro giftcard, what should I buy which would be good for me to take with to the college?
    Greets,
    Tayfun

I suggest that you contact the department at the school where you will be studying and pose that question to them.  Understand that at the present time, there are no third party storage options available allowing you to increase storage.  If you exceed the storage of the MBP, you will be forced to rely on an external HDD.
    Ciao.

  • Dead Pixel paranoid! How do I protect MacBook Pro 15 retina screen?

    Hello all,
First Mac ever!  I just paid over $3,100 for the MBPrd and additional apple care.  After doing some research I have heard that dead pixels are a major problem!  Also that apple just blames it on "DUST" when you close the lid!
As a new Mac customer I find it hard to believe that I just paid that much for a performance marvel that is so easily effected by.. Dust, the most common household / office particle.
So, what is the best way to protect the screen?  B/C I can tell you right now if down the road I have to argue with some "Genius" about dust ruining the display on my super expensive laptop, I'd rather just return the thing tomorrow.  It blows my mind that the screen doesn't have better warranty coverage even under the additional apple care!
    Any advise is appreciated.

You should have an HDMI port on your Retina display model?
All you need is a standard HDMI to HDMI cable to connect to your television (assuming that it has an HDMI port). I actually have run an HDMI cable through my stereo receiver and just selected it via the receiver since I've a shortage of HDMI ports on my television.
You could also connect via Thunderbolt to HDMI with the proper cable, if you wished.

  • Macbook Pro Retina Screen Problems

In July 2012, I got a Macbook Pro with Retina display with a one year Apple Care plan.
Within the past few months, shortly after my Apple Care ended, I have had a host of problems with the display. Occasionally during use, the entire scren will kind of blank or static out, and just show a ton of gray stripes and eventually flicker back to normal. Also, there are two tiny divits or chips in the screen. The thing is, there was never anything done to prompt these. One day I just opened it, and the first one was there, and a few months later the second one.
Because these are problems I have read about frequently (not to mention the image burning after I close certain programs that has been going on since I got the computer), even though my Apple Care expired, will Apple still repair or replace this, or am I totally out of luck?
Any help given would be really appreciated!

  • Screen burn-in/ghosting on MacBook Pro with Retina Display

I have had my 15 inch MacBook Pro with retina display for a little over a year now I and I have started to notice that when I am on a mostly white webpage for a few minutes, and then switch to a darker page, there is an obvious screen burn-in/ghosting.  Is this something that can be fixed?  It's not accidentaly damage, it's a manufacturing problem.
My warranty recently expired.  Will I have to pay for repair costs even though this is Apple's fault and not mine? If so, how much could I expect to pay? Is there any way to extend my warranty? How much does that cost?

Just got my second MBPR 13, and it cames again with the not welcome and clear "feature" of IR
When I try to check for the display model with he command
    ioreg -lw0 | grep "EDID" | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6
    I got this output
    @.`0 6
    Color LCD
Later I checked it in the colorSync utility
    Manufacturer: 00000610
    Model: 0000A020
    Manufacture Date:CD238700
Not sure if its Samsung or LG, but honestly I dont care, I just want a not faulty display in my new expensive laptop.
Now Im thinking to return it again and Im really paste after waiting for almost a month to receive this second and also defective laptop (I bought it in the online store, 1TB, 16RAM, I7).
Should I return it again? Im thinking that even if the 14 days expires, since I have the waranty, they fix it anytime within the 3 years apple care waranty.
    Should I play the lotery?

  • Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display, screen issue since most recent update.

I had the software update downloaded on my Macbook Pro with Retina display for awhile, and finally got around to installing it. Once I installed it my screen had a little twitch where my screen would look normal but the top of the screen the finder bar, with the wifi icon, battery icon, spotlight icon would also appear on the bottom of the screen yet everything above it appeared normal. I reinstalled os x lion and it was fixed but their are now little black horizontal lines all across my screen, the resolution is fine enough to use but I'm wondering why these lines appear. The lines sometimes go away, also sometimes when I open my laptop my screen has a ultraviolet greenish, purple tint to it that goes away after awhile of sitting. I've determined that my screen is an LG screen and I know they have issues. I was wondering if anyone had the same issues to this and possibly a fix? The laptop was purchased July/2012.

Hello, did you solve your problem? I have now something like you with my Macbook Pro Retina :-/
