Macbook Pro water damaged, have I lost my purchased apps?
A drink got spilt onto my Macbook Pro the other night, for enough time to soak into the keyboard and I'm guessing damaging the internal harddrive. Unfortunately nothing was backed up but the good news is I have accidental damage insurance. Is there any way I can retrieve the internal harddrive before sending it for repair/replacement and more importantly, will I be able to retrieve anything I purchased on my Apple account on the replaced Macbook? I had recently bought Final Cut Pro X on my old Mac, costing me £200 and hadn't got round to using it properly so will be absolutely gutted if I've lost that.
Any advise would be really appreciated! I can't seem to book an appointment at the Apple Store as there's never an available one!

This is a full court shot attempt, but here's what I did when my laptop got rained on (granted this is an older secondary MBP so if it failed I had my other one).
Unplug everything.
Remove the logic board.
alcohol (90% +) and a toothbrush
Brush away! focusing on the coroded parts. get the corrosion out.
Clean the goop off the bottom of the case.
There is a SMALL chance that it will work, but that damage looks pretty bad. Was it running while it was wet? More than likely the water get into or underneith the chip set, which is more difficult to clean without knowledge and the right tools. Rossman group seems do a good job at fixing these kinds of things...
However, depending on how old your laptop is it might be more of a better investment in getting a new Macbook (mbair maybe?) then trying to fix it if the toothbrush thing doesn't work. Certainly replacing the logic board itself would fix it but it wouldn't be worth it. -

Can I purchase Mountain Lion and make a flash drive bootable? I do not want to install it on my Macbook Pro. As soon as you hear the startup tone, press and hold Command-S on the keyboard. Keep holding down those keys until you see a black screen with white lettering. This is called “booting into Single User Mode.” As the Mac boots in this mode, the screen reports each step of the process. The line should end in root#. Right after the root# prompt, enter the following: /sbin/fsck -fy
If repairing the disk in single user mode fails, it means one of two things. Either your hard drive itself is failing (a hardware failure), or the directory damage on your hard drive is beyond the capability of the built-in repair procedures in OS X. -

i am sorry i not good speak englishProvided you are using the correct charger for your Mac (13" have a 65 watt charger, 15" and 17", an 85 watt charger), it has enough capacity to power the computer for normal tasks, and the leftover power can charge the battery at the same time. If you are doing something very intensive, there may not be leftover power, but the Mac will take power from the battery if needed. Once the battery is fully charged, the pilot light in the charger plug will change from orange to green and no further charge will be applied to the battery.
You can use your Mac plugged to the charger with no damage to the battery or the computer. -
I purchased an iphone and MacBook Pro. I have downloaded findmyiphone on my phone, and it will now locate both my phone and computer if they were to get lost. I do not know how to put the same program on my computer, so I can find my iphone if it were to get lost. Does anyone know how to activate this on the MacBook Pro?
You activate it on a Mac in System Preferences/iCloud. You manage it from www.icloud.com in the Safari browser that came on the Mac.

I am experiencing some major problems with my MacBook Pro. I have had some issues with it turning on/off at random times, but today, when starting, I get the grey start-up screen and a recovery bar. After filling in approx 1/4 of the way, the machine dies. After starting it in recovery mode, it will not allow me to download OS X Mavericks- it says the disk is locked. Any ideas? I do not have a back-up and do not want to erase everything before I have explored my options. Help?

What really cheeses me off here is that Apple isn't allowing users enough customization. With each update of iTunes (and the OS and iOS) we're forced to give up something that worked well for the way we want to use the app and make do with fewer (and lamer) options. If Apple keeps this up, they're going to start losing customers fast. I mean if this isn't fixed soon, I'm pretty sure I'm going to give up on iTunes, and then I'll probably go ahead and get a Galaxy when I need to replace my iPhone.
What I don't understand about how they won't let users delete the list of available podcasts now is why? How is this making it a better program? I can understand that not all users are capable enough to right-click on a feed and select "Show all available episodes", so I can see why they want the complete list to be the default (and, surprise, it already was). But to not give users the option to delete that list? It's inconsiderate because it makes navigating feeds with a large back catalogue really frustrating. I'm flabbergasted that no one at Apple considered all the podcast feeds that keep hundreds of episodes available when they removed this feature. It smacks of rank incompetence.
What improvement were they trying to make here anyway? There was nothing wrong to my mind about how podcasts were managed in previous versions. Whatever improvement they were trying to make here, they should have realized that many users would at least want the option to keep things the way they were.
And reverting to a previous version is no solution. I can't sync my iPhone with the new iOS without this update, and (while I do have some issues--specifically how you can't play podcasts in the Music app anymore) I do like the new iOS. -
Please help! Itunes fails to open on my macbook pro. I have removed itunes and reinstalled it and it still will not work!
Try removing the Genius database. In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

My Wife and I have separate accounts on the same Macbook Pro. I have moved the iTunes library to a shared area and we can both access it, however, my Wife (secondary user)can't import cd's. Is there something we are missing and is there a way to do this?
