Macbook Pro will not go to sleep at some moment!

This happens frequently, I try to put my Macbook Pro to sleep and it just wakes up again after a couple of seconds. Every time it does, the fan blows heavily for a couple of seconds. The computer runs as it should, only problem is, it runs while it should be asleep sometimes as well.
This is what terminal tells me if this occurs if I type syslog |grep -i "Wake reason ="
Fri Jan 14 16:24:48 MacBook-van-*-* kernel[0] <Debug>: Wake reason = EHC1
This is wat syslog tells me:

Not one (USB) port is used, Bluetooth is turned of, I do not let computers wake me up over the network, wireless is turned on, but it doesn't make a difference (I have tried)...
Some more info about my mac is:
Boot-ROM-versie: MBP61.0057.B0C
Modelname: MacBook Pro
Model: MacBookPro6,2
It is a complete mystery to me why this machine is doing this, it has been doing it for a while now and I'm starting to get desperate because I can not miss it for a week for reperation...

Maybe this helps:
I found out that if the wake reason is the USB hub itself ("Hub at 0xfd000000") then a virutal usb device can be the cause. I fixed it myself by uninstalling virtual webcams. More exactly, i had the Google+ Hangout plugin installed, which installed 2 more virual webcams.
Try uninstalling everything related to that. For the Google stuff there is an uninstaller in Library/Application Support/Google/GoogleVoiceAndVideoUninstaller.app.
After that, the problem was gone for me.

  • My macbook pro will not go to sleep

Macbook pro will not sleep by any means except when it is on battery and if I plug the power back in it will stay sleep for a while and wake up on its own. I have spoken with express lane and verified the HD and the premissions, etc. and it worked for a when and the problem returned.

My MBP does this on occasion as well.
It also used to make a terrible processor noise, but I just got the logic board replaced through apple care. So far it has not had the sleep problems since i got it back, but it has only been a week, so who knows.
also make sure you have updated the firmware, if you have one of the early models it may be outdated (like mine).
I never did figure out a permanent solution, but it seems like it happened a lot less after the firmware update.
Good luck, I'll let you know if mine is in the clear with the new logic board

  • 2012 MacBook pro will not power up sleep light on then off

Please help my mid 2012 MacBook pro will not turn on. When I press the power button the light on front comes on and the cd rom drive attempts to start then it shuts back off. I have tried holding down the power button and pressing the button combo to reset the controller.  Thanks for any help.

You may have to take the MBP to the Apple store as soon as possible.
    Best.

  • Macbook pro will not wake from sleep without shut down?

My macbook pro 2007 will not wake from sleep without holding down start button and then restarting? Is this a serious problem?

You can Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
You can run the Disk Utility> Repair Disk from Recovery ( command R on start)
if that does not sort it I would reinstall OS X

  • MacBook Pro will not wake from sleep

My new 13" MacBook Pro will occasionally refuse to wake from sleep. Touching the keyboard or moving the mouse will turn on the keyboard background lights but the computer will not wake. This occurs without any peripherals attached.  I have reset the PRAM and the SMC ... no help.
The only option for recovery is the hard power down with the power button and restart. Anyone else seeing this?

Yes and I hate it. I am having pretty much the same problem, and have tried the same solutions, also Iupgraded to Lion and there still has been no relief. My computer just runs slower.

  • 2007 macbook pro will not go to sleep...

Whether i close the lid or use the command it will not go to sleep. If i close the lid the little white light in front goes on bright and stays. If i use the command the white light goes on dim & stays that way. I've tried resetting the SMU (?) by removing the battery and holding the power button down for 5 sec, but no luck.
    Anyone have any other suggestions?

    OK.

  • When i shut my display, my MacBook Pro will not go to sleep!!!!

Hi everyone, i have been having a problem recently with my MacBook Pro, and as the title suggests i am having a problem with putting my computer to sleep. For some reason when i shut the display to put the computer to sleep, the computer never actually goes to sleep. The light on the open button turns on but it doesn't turn to the normal gradual pulse. The screen actually turns off but the hard drive never stops running. Many times i don't realize this has happened until hours later when i actually come back to my computer and it is just in that same state. When i come back to the computer it is also very hot. When i try and open the display to get back on my computer, however, nothing happens at all. its almost like it just freezes while trying to sleep. The only thing i can do at this point to get it out of this state is to hold the the power button in and restart the computer. I should note that this problem occurs probably every 1:15 times i put my computer to sleep. Any help concerning this problem would be most appreciated. Thanks again!!!

Whether I choose sleep manually or close it, it takes at least 30 seconds before it actually goes to sleep. Anyone have ideas as to why this happens or how to fix it? yes my power saving preferences are set

I have a similar issue with my MBP, it's been on-going for a while but I just never had time to stop and deal with it.
This week I had a new logic board put in, low and behold it's still doing it (I get a kernel panic after resume).
Trying to track it down myself now. AHT and everything says the hardware is fine, fresh install (erase with 0 on disk) and all updates, no 3rd party software.

    OS: 10.6.8
Since OS ??? I have the problem, that working with the account I normally use, may MacBook Pro will not go to sleep mode.
It is strange, but only this account is affected.
If I use another account, MacBook Pro goes to sleep mode as expected.

  • HT4628 My macbook pro will not automatically reconnect to the wifi after a sleep. This has started after having upgraded to mountain Lion (10.8).

    Hi
After I have installed Mountain Lion (10.8) - my macbook pro will not connect automatically to my preferred wifi network. It used to do that on the previous versions. It seems that the mac does not recognize the preferred network, as it asks me to choose a network after evey sleep/restart. I have modified the network preference to have my preferred netwrok at the top of the list. I have tried with/without checking the "ask me before joining a new network". It still behaved the same.
    Thanks
    Eitan

Try making a new network connection and renewing the DCHP lease as detailed here:
