MacBook Pro will not update to Keynote 3.0.1

After learning of the update to Keynte, I immediately went to software updater and found it there with an update to Pages and Garage Band. When I downloaded the updates, Garageband and Pages updated without a snafu, however there was a red asterik next to the Keynotes update. I also got the following warning:
A networking error has occurred: Error NSURLError -1005(-1005). Make sure you are connected to the internet.
I read on another forum that another user could not download the update to his MacBook Pro.
The update loaded to my G-5 tower without a hitch.
Thanks in advance.

Can it be assumed that you tried (possibly, without
success) to download the updater a second time?
Brie Fly,
I tried it a second time when it was the stand alone app in the software updater and it worked. Thanks!
Big presentation on Tuesday to some of the Marines at Camp Pendleton. That was my impetus to upgrade to the MacBook Pro. To be honest, this is the first problem I've had with it. I love the machine otherwise.

What can I do if my MacBook pro will not update past OS X 10.5.8
When I check for software updates, it says there are no updates and it is up to date.

OS X 10.5.8 is the last update for that version. If you need to go to a OS X 10.6 then you are going to have to purchased a DVD for the upgrade.

  • MacBook Pro will not update to 10.5.5

Software update will not install 10.5.5 on my 15" MacBook Pro. The software downloads but after it restarts the installation (bar) just sits and does not progress. I have never faced this with updates before. I have let it run for 1/2 hr and it doesn't progress. Any hints as to what is going on?
To get out of this I have to power down and reboot into 10.5.4

Resolved problem. The software updater obviously created a corrupt download file. When I went to the download web site and manually downloaded the update I was able to perform the update.
Apple needs to modify the software updater to give an option to re-download a file(the update). Rerunning the updater does not download the files again.

  • MacBook Pro will not update to 10.8.3

    Hi,
I have tried uploading the update from the app store and the combo update but none of them work. When I try to update it from the store it restarts my computer but tells me it can't be loaded after. When I update it from the combo (website) it tells me there is an invalid checksum error. Help would be much appreciated!!

You have a bad download, hence, the checksum error. Give this a try:
    Re-download the combo updater.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
After this is completed download and install OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.3 (Combo).

  • My Macbook Pro - will not update the software update - it freezes

when prompted to update the software - currently I am on ver 10.5.5 - it asks to restart the computer and install - I continue then the screen freezes and the installation bar has hardly moved - I have no way of shutting the computer down - I have to take out the battery to get it to start again - Can someone help

Rather than update through Software Update (which in your case will run the incremental 10.5.6 updater) download the 10.5.6 combo updater from Apple web site and use that. Repair Permissions before and after.

I interrupted a software update and my macbook pro will not boot. I have tried to reboot using the startup disc, I have tried to verify the disc, and repair the disc. It tells me I need to erase and reformat the hard drive then reinstall the operating system. I do not have a back up of all my applications, my garageband music and other things. I also do not have time capsule set up on this machine, but I do have a 2 TB time capsule.
Is there anyway to back up this corrupted drive so I can restore my applications later?

There's an old saying.  If you don't have a backup disc, then there must be nothing important to backup.  That's just lesson #1.  Lesson #2 is to never interrupt a software update.  Not a good thing.
OK, I'm sure you know this.  It just upsets me to read your story, knowing you have a lot of important stuff on your hard drive, and didn't use time machine.
You're pretty much in a bad place.  My only hope for you is to boot to your Installation Disc, then using disk utility see if you can save the internal hard drive (by fixing what can be fixed).  You might be able to see your user folder and some of your apps.  I wouldn't even consider copying the library, because who knows what's been corrupted in there.
    Good luck.

  • After updating from Lion 10.7.4 to 10.7.5, my MacBook Pro will not reboot.  Why?  What can I do about it?

After upating from Lion 10.7.4 to 10.7.5, my MacBook Pro will not reboot.  Why?  What can I do about it?

I ended up having to visit an Apple Store.  They claimed that the update must have aggravated an already corrupted hard disk drive.  The solution was to wipe my hard disk (fortunately I had recently backed up on Time Machine).  The "Genius" also claimed this was the first time he had come across the problem.  Although he was clearly able to diagnose it straightaway, and the next person he saw had exactly the same problem with his Mac, and I saw an awful lot of customers queuing up with their Macs and iMacs looking very suspiciously like they all had the same problem!  So clearly Apple know what the problem is but as usual treat customers as if they're idiots in order to cover up the problem.  But at least the problem is now solved (although having to take at trip out and wait in a queue at an Apple store, and then restoring from backups is a painstaking inconvenience I could well have done without).  All I can suggest is that you might as well take it in.  None of the "solutions" on the Forum are remotely on the ball, and all Apple "Geniuses" have clearly been told what the problem is and how to fix it.  Good luck!

OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X

Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet

  • My final cut pro will not update on my iMac, it will update on my Macbook.

my final cut pro will not update on my iMac, it will update on my Macbook. I have OS X Yosemite on both systems, my macbook has final cut pro x version 10.1.4 and my iMac shows no updates available and is on version  10.1.1. I have tried looking in iTunes for the same update that is installed on my macbook under the same iTunes account, but it doesn't show any updates. I tried deleting from my iMac and it won't delete so I can reinstall it. any suggestions?

You need to be logged into the Mac App Store with the same Apple ID in order to see your updates. You speak about iTunes: maybe you meant that just as an expression to refer to your Apple ID, but just in case you didn't: you do NOT use iTunes to download mac software. You use the App Store application, available under the Apple menu.
