Macbook Pro with the HP 2100TN

I’m interested in running the Macbook Pro using leopard with the HP 2100TN.
I’ve been using the Laserwriter 8 print driver via the Ethernet port using OS 9.2.2 with a Power G3.
What are my options?
Would I need to use OS 9.2.2
And if I need to use OS 9.2.2 to use the Laserwriter 8 print driver can I run OS 9.2.2 with Leopard, and if I can do that do I need to restart the system to access OS 9.2.2 or is it possible to launch OS 9.2.2 as you do with Virtual PC?

what operating system and MBP are you on, hit cmd+space bar and then type system information and then hit enter. on the left side panel Hardware should be highlighted and you can copy and paste the info there. you can leave out the serial number however it doesn't really matter.
EDIT:
HP claims compatibility with 10.7 so you're probably good to go with whatever you have under that. when you get your printer, simply run software update after you've plugged it in. software update is located in the drop down menu when you click the  logo at the top left hand corner of your main display.

but run software update from the apple menu first when the printer is plugged into the computer and also turned on first. Apple may already supply you with the necessary updates for your system within software update.

When syncing the iPhone and iPad with iTunes on your computer that is logged in with the Apple ID you plan on using on all three, the Apple ID should be transferred to the iPhone and iPad for the iTunes & App Stores on each device. If not, you'll need to sign out of the existing Apple ID on the iPhone and iPad followed by signing in with the Apple ID you want to use on both.
Keep in mind that all 3rd party apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account or Apple ID that was used to download the apps. With an app installed on your iPad and iPhone that was downloaded with a different Apple ID from the one you will be using now, you will need to use that Apple ID and password to install app updates for those apps. Not possible to transfer apps purchased with one Apple ID to another or to merge Apple IDs.

To an extent yes. You can't control the master volume, but tou can turn the volume up and down, up to the maximum set manually on your computer.

I recently bought the new MacBook Pro with the new retina display, but since it does not have a dvd/cd drive, I was going to buy an external one. I think I will be able to use it to watch dvds, but can I also play the computergame The Sims 3 on it? If not is there anything else I can do?

You can try formatting the external drive on your eMac using Disk Utility and choosing a well-known format > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html. It's quite possible that your new iMac would be able to read it, but first, tell us which formats Disk Utility lists.
If you have those songs in iTunes, simply go to Music folder and copy the iTunes folder to the external drive. Then, connect it to the iMac and copy the iTunes folder to Music folder.
If they are not in iTunes, copy your songs to the external drive. Then, connect it to your new iMac, open iTunes and drag the songs into it

I'm guessing "ash" is the silver colored keyboard, the same color as the rest of the MBP? If so, that machine, with the optical drive slot on the front, is the older machine.

Do the air/pro herschel cases fit the macbook pro with the cd drive?

My boyfriend owns the macbook pro with the cd drive. I am trying to purchase him a herschel case (they are sold in the accessory section in the apple store, online as well as in store)
My only concern is that I know the air and the new pro are thinner, more sleek then the macbook pro with the cd drive and I'm just curious to know if the herschel cases that say "fits air/pro 13inch" actually fit the macbook with the cd drive.

yes their a difference. The retna model is slimmer and doesnt have an optical drive.

How Can i connect using Thunderbolt a Macbook Pro with the New iMac

I bought the new Macbook Pro with Thunderbolt and instead of buying a new external monitor, i am thinking that the new iMac with Thunderbolt is a great idea.
Is there a cable to connect the Macbook Pro and use as iMac as external monitor, using Thunderbolt.

I understood your question perfectly and the answer is absolutely yes. When you change the iMac into target display mode you underlying operating system continues to run all existing applications. For example in my case if I finished editing some video and am about to enter a lengthy render process or something which may draw lots of resources like hand real, I set it to start on the iMac and then switch it to target display mode to use it as a monitor with my MacBook air in the meantime.
Only one small caveat in your case though. Since the target display mode is a feature of OSX (eg the OS interprets the special key stroke and changes the iMac into target display mode) you should make sure Lion server supports the target display mode feature. I don't see a reason why it wouldn't but that's the only thing currently crossing my mind. Keep in mind the compatibilities between ports as noted in my blog. If any of your machines have mini display port and you intend to connect the new iMac in target display mode you will run into issues. In that special scenario, I recommend buying a refurb iMac from 2010 which urtilize the displayport allowing you to use it as a display for all your macs -- those with thunderbolt as well as those with displayport. If you have thunderbolts then definitely go with the thunderbolt iMac.

Does the MacBook Pro with the retina display need to be protected from smoke?

So my new college roommate loves to watch is high-definition movies on my MacBook Pro with retina display. The problem is that he likes to smoke indoors and he blows huge clouds of smoke on my computer while he's using it. Since the newest MacBook Pro has air intakes along the bottom sides of the computer, what are the chances that there is something building up on the inside of my computer? I wonder if the designers at Apple took into consideration that people may subject the computer to conditions such as this.

You should - if you've been to a smokers house - you'll notice that some parts of their walls have yellowish stain from smoking - those same stains can accumulate inside your Macbook internals.
I've opened enough desktop computers from smoker's house and the fans aren't working because of all the soot from cigarette smoke and it's also sticky inside - if they can do that much damage in a desktop computer - imagine what it can do to the internals of your Macbook when prolonged exposure to cigarette smoke in tight quarters..

You have created an Extended Desktop. The up-down-left-right arrangement is done in the Arrange pane in
System Preferences > Displays > Arrange
The second screen is added to one edge of the first screen. The mouse moves freely off the edge of one screen and onto the other screen. You can drag and drop files or windows from one screen to the other.

Connecting to a TV is no different than connecting to any other external display. It's possible that there's a problem with the mini dvi port on the macbook r that you have bad adapters. Question : My father recently bought me a new Headset. It's a great Headset with good quality(I GUESS) and a microphone which is what I need.(SORRY IF THIS OFFENDED YOU) Anyway, I was disappointed when I noticed there was a microphone input/wire, there wasn't any microphone jack for it on the computer/laptop. It would be a waste of money if I would have to switch inputs/outputs. Is there a possible way to use the headphones and the microphone simultaneously? Please help, I've been wanting a Headset with a microphone and I finally received one and this occured. Please help. I don't want to purchase any external thing for the microphone jack, if I do, Apple should re-design the MacBook Pro, sorry, though. I don't think the Apple earphones or Ear pods came along with this computer/laptop, so, why only one jack for the headphones? Anyway, sorry for any offensive feedback or sayings. Thank you, though.

Use a usb port and usb adapter. There is no mic in on Mackbook Pros. Return the headset for a uisb headset with mic.

Will resetting my Macbook Pro with the disk delete all the applications I have installed?

As a graduation gift, my parents bought me the Macbook Pro, but they forgot the Admin password they had set on it...So I did a little but of searching around and the Installation disk solution came up. I have the disk, but I was wondering if I did follow through with it, will it erase all the applications I have installed like Microsoft Word, PPT, and Excel?

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.

Suddenly disk space has decreased rapidly

The cause of this problem was due to an incompatibility between NODE32 V 4.0.5x and my MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3).
I solved it with a new version of NODE32 (ESET Cyber Security) V 5.0.108.0.
To delete the huge log files that had accumoled during the repeated crash of the previous version of NODE32, I used alternately OnyX and Trash.It!, Especially the second it was very useful.

HT5815 Updated to 10.8.5 and now I cannot control my macbook pro with the track pad. Any solutions?

Like any other time, the App Store said there was a new update and asked if I wanted to update now. I did. Unfortunately, the update, after rebooting, has rendered the system unusable. I can no longer control the system with the track pad. The arrow is moving itself around the screen and the Launchpad periodically opens itself and gets locked in that mode. I've rebooted, launched in safe mode, and zapped PRAM. Nothing has changed. I experienced the same thing in safe mode, no change. Anyone else having these problems? Not sure what to do next.

There are several possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps until it's resolved.
1. Follow the instructions in this support article, and also this one, if applicable.
2. Open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check for unknown or forgotten input devices. Disconnect any USB input devices that you aren't using.
3. Boot in safe mode and test, preferably without launching any third-party applications. If you don't have the problem in safe mode, but it comes back when you reboot as usual, stop here and post your results. If you can't boot in safe mode, do the same. If you booted in safe mode and there was no change, go on to the next step.
4. Reset the System Management Controller.
5. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
6. A swollen battery in a MacBook Pro or Air can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced without delay.
7. Some people have reported that they fixed a malfunctioning trackpad by pressing down on all four corners at once. I can't confirm, but it does no harm to try.
8. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built-in trackpad of a MacBook to behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
9. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
10. If none of the above applies, or if you have another reason to think that your computer is being remotely controlled, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi (or your Wi-Fi access point), disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop at once, you should suspect an intrusion.
11. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine and/or external trackpad tested.

Can iCloud find a Macbook Pro with the Serial number?

My Macbook pro was stolen about a year ago but I was wondering since iCloud came out if the theft downloads it does it register the serial number and all that information? I still have my box and all its information. Would that be a possible way to locate it?
