My computer is showing it is connected to the internet via wifi but my page won't load and gives me a message that Safari cannot connect to the internet. When I run the diagnostics it tells me my connection is fine.

hi, how do i stop my macbook pro not to automatically connect to a wifi connection that is not my preferred network? i want to automatically connect my macbook to my preferred network everytime i turn on my laptop. thank you.
System Preferences > Network > WiFi
To give a network the highest priority, drag the name of the network to the top of the list. This is the network your computer will attempt to join first.

How come my macbook Pro doesn't automatically connect to my wifi when it is saved under known networks and i have the box checked under network settings?
Random35,
does your wi-fi router filter access by MAC address? If it does, then have you added your MacBook Pro’s MAC address to your router’s whitelist of acceptable MAC addresses? -
My macbook pro isn't automatically connecting to wifi when I open it. I have to manually enter the password every time although I always click "remember password". PLease advise
Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked
Keep login keychain unlocked
is not checked, check it.
Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access. -

I just upgraded from my 2008 MacBook to a new Macbook Pro. How do I get my time capsule to work on my new MacBook? I did data migration, but the time capsule did not pick it up. Any ideas?
If you migrated all the info from time machine to your new MBP. The TM will usually ask to connect to the old backups.. sorry I am not sure is this what you want to do.. Personally I think you start a fresh backup.
BTW Time Capsule does not do anything.. it is a dumb hard disk in a box.. it is TM that does everything.
Look at B5 and B6 here about connecting to your backup.

The HD was recently changed on my MacBook Pro and I lost my iTunes library (Time Capsule died also!) but all my songs are still on my iPhone4. How can I copy them back to my laptop? Tks
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991 -
I lose my Internet connection, unplug my Time Capsule for a while, plug it back in, then in a few minutes my Internet is connected again. Can someone tell me what to do? Thanks
I was being jovial..
SL is snow leopard.. If you are on 10.6.8 you are on SL. Your initial post says 10.5.6 but I assumed you had upgraded to Lion or worse Mountain Lion.
Don't whatever you do update.. that is out of the frying pan into the fire.
You might need to give more network info..
What is the TC plugged into for broadband.. are you on cable, adsl, other.. is the TC in router mode.
I find with SL, the later versions of TC firmware much worse than earlier ones.. So I do recommend you check your TC and if you are on 7.6.1 then downgrade to 7.5.2 .. you do this by holding the option key when you select update firmware.. it will show you downgrade options as well as upgrade.. only this is not possible with newest Gen 4 TC which are stuck on 7.6.x firmware.
How do you connect to the TC is the other question.. and with what?? Is this issue computer only or iphone ipad etc. ie is your network wireless or ethernet (or both) does the issue affect both? -
MacBook Pro won't start. Beeps 3 times.
My MacBook pro won't turn on and beeps 3 times...pause..then another 3 beeps. The light in the front blinks with the beeps. I've opened it up and taken the RAM out and put them back in, but nothing. I have an appointment at an Apple store tomorrow, but I'm just curious as to what's wrong. I'm hoping it won't cost me a ton of money. Any ideas??!

MacBook Pro won't automatically switch between internal speakers and display audio
I have a MacBook Pro that connects to a LED Cinema display. It used to automatically switch between internal speakers and display audio when plugged in to the display but won't anymore. I have to manually change it in System Preferences --> Sound. Does anyone know how to make it do that again?
thanks,
BenI just want to add, I have the same problem, and just want to help raise awareness of it.
1st, the problem only started recently (have been using the Thunderbolt display since it was released), I did not have this problem, and noticed it beginning only in the last month. (since January)
2nd, My particular setup, includes a hard drive attached to the firewire port on the back of the Thunderbolt Display (so, I am wondering if anyone else experienced this problem with a firewire drive being connected).
My full setup:
Macbook Air (2011)
Thunderbolt display
Western Digital drive (attached to firewire of display)
3rd, If I go into settings, what I will see is the "Display Audio" is selected (but no sound coming out),
If I then select "Internal Speakers," a buffered "history" of all the sounds I did not hear is then played (pretty funny actually) - for example, if I sent mail, adjusted the volume, and started playing a song.... it immediately plays all those sounds when selecting "Internal Speakers"
4th, If i then select "Display Audio" - it does nothing
5th, what I have to do, to resolve this is: eject all my hard drives, disconnect the thunderbolt cable, then reconnect the thunderbolt cable, and everything works as normal. -
Macbook Pro won't stay connected to my pc based netowrk
I am new to mac. I have a PC network and if I reboot my macbook pro (early 2011) it will connect fine to all the computers but after a certain amount of time it will disconnect from them and won't be able to see the computers. My mac is still able to connect to the internet just fine without any issues. Any suggestions?
iTunes would open, and it would say error 9, or error 1611, I do apologize for missing that bit, looking up the error, it seems usb related, but all my other USB devices and mp3s work fine on my USB hubs, no matter which I use for the ipod, it does it.
Edit: forgot to mention that it ONLY saw it in recovery mode, and everytime I would try to restore it would give those same errors, had to restore it on my fiances PC this morning. -
I'm new to macs as of last night. Which would explain why perhaps this is an easy task, but I have difficulty with it. Here's my situation; my wireless network is password protected. When I initially connected to it it prompted me to put in a password, I did, and then I was connected. Every time I turn my computer back on or wake it up, I have to go up, click on wifi, click on "Tardis1" and click connect. It doesn't ask me to put in the password again, however it doesn't connect automatically like it should. It also gives me this message every time I manually link it, "Mac connected as wep but not wepa/wepa2 personal" or something along those lines. Any help would be great, thanks!
Hello, andyBall_uk. I figured out the problem, and I'm going to reply to it on here in case anybody else has the same issue they can see this solution. I already had an iOS device before, which saved a "keychain" of the old login info for the router. This was back when the router did have WEP security. Since then, it has been reconfigured for WPA2 however my old keychain was trying to join it as WEP.
To solve this, I went to System Preferences>Network>Advanced
From here, I noticed the
[ + ] [ - ] Drag Networks into the order you prefer
Highlighting my router and hitting the [ - ] sign removed the keychain that would previously only connect as WEP. This now allowed my computer to automatically connect to the router every time I opened it or turned it on. -
Macbook pro doesn't automatically connect to my wireless network
I have set up my network preferences with my wireless networka the top of the list. This used to ensure I automatically connected, but now I have to manually connect everytime I wake my computer.
