Macbook Pro won't stop syncing unplugged ipod 5

I plugged my iphone 5 into my new macbook pro (with retina display) via usb port to sync it and back up itunes and all was well, all my music is now on my iphone and my macbook. No follow up issues. However, when i plug in my ipod 5, things started to go wrong. Backing it up wouldn't work at all and i couldn't sync ANY of my other apps with it and so after about 45 minutes, i gave up. I ejected my ipod and i thought everything was ok until every time i tried to shut down my macbook, i would get a notification asking if i was still willing to shut down my laptop even though itunes was still trying to back up with my ipod. I was confused and went to look at itunes and tried clicking 'Quit Back up' which didn't work as my laptop completely disregarded me.
Then, I thought, maybe if i click sync ipod, it will realise that there is nothing plugged in and then it will quit. Not the case. When i clicked sync it actually started syncing my ipod but my ipod wasnt aware of it. On itunes on my macbook, it was mainly blank, not showing any of the backup options like it usually does while syncing and what not. This has been going on for nearly a week.
Because backing up and syncing take up a lot of battery, my laptop has been reaching low battery in about 45mins-1hour of use. Itunes is refusing to let me quit and shut down my laptop even though i click to stop sync when it asks me. Itunes is constantly running in the background draining my battery life. I have now just plugged in the same ipod but my itunes has failed to recognise it. This is also stopping me from updating my software with the newest update.
I don't know what i'm meant to do because i feel powerless and as a first time mac user, who, by the way, does nothing but surf the net and do schoolwork on it, i am very shocked by how quickly this has happened as i have only had this macbook pro for under 4 months.
Hope this gets answered asap as this has been going on for about a week. Thank you

The first thing I'd do is boot to your install DVD (Cmd-C) or recovery partition (Cmd-R in case you're running Lion or Mountain Lion). Start Disk Utility and repair the disk and its permissions. With any luck, that will get your system running properly again. If not, we'll walk you through resetting the SMC and NVRAM.

There's info here on setting up separate libraries and user accounts. You won't have to reload (or re-import) all the music, just copy it.
The reason I suggest separate accounts on the Mac is because if you have the two libraries under the same user account, iTunes will also open the last library that was open in that account, and you'll always have to be mindful of which library that is. If you open iTunes and find it's not your library, you'll have quit, relaunch holding the option key and select the other library.
No, you won't have to log in and out of the Mac. (If I'm understanding your question here.) Multiple accounts can be logged in at the same time. And with fast user switching, you can toggle between user accounts.
I'll admit that maintaining the two libraries gets a little tricky, because if you share all the same music, you'll have to add it to one and update the other. (That won't happen automatically.) But I think Home Sharing makes this much easier to do.
    Hope that helps!

my macbook pro won't stop making noise! It sounds like the fan but I'm not sure. Any ideas? It's really worrying me because I haven't had it for up tp 2months and last week everytime I switch it on it makes sooo much noise. And I treat like an egg so I don't understand whats going on.

    Hey,
My friend had a very similar issue to yours. The issue came down to the pins of the MagSafe not meeting with the MacBook perfectly causing the lights and the transfer of power to be wacko. I'm not sure if this is issue that your experiencing, but its worth checking out the pins and the MagSafe area on your MacBook for debris.
Troubleshooting Magsafe power adapters with stuck pins
If that is all clear, then I would suggest you call AppleCare or take it in to an Apple Store to have it checked out.

  • ITunes and MacBook Pro won't recognize 2 gen iPod

I'm trying to sync my 2nd gen iPod to my MacBook Pro.  It won't come up in the Finder or on iTunes.  I've done the suggestions I found online but still can't connect.  I've never had a problem before.  Any other suggestions?

Make sure you're running the most current version of itunes. Update if you have not done so, then:
Follow the steps here to remove & reinstall the AMDS to see if itunes will see your phone:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747
You won't be able to do anything until itunes recognizes your phone. Once that is done, restore the phone as a "new" device in itunes. This should remove the software used to jailbreak the phone.

  • MacBook Pro won't stop thinking

my computer will start, and my home screen will come up, but the parachute won't stop spinning (thinking).  my Internet indicator won't come on most of the time, maybe every fourth time I start it.  can I manually restore it?

  • My MacBook Pro won't stop announcing the time in Japanese.

It was funny at first but now I want it to stop.

    Hey TravisBickle,
Thanks for the question. Let’s check your Date & Time preferences, and disable the “Announce the time” option:
OS X Mavericks: Set date and time options
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14090
    1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Date & Time.
    2. Do any of the following:
    - Click Date & Time, then choose to set date and time automatically or manually.
    - Click Time Zone, then select your city.
    - Click Clock, then make sure that “Show date and time in menu bar” is selected.
If you want to hear the time announced, select “Announce the time,” then choose from the pop-up menu how frequently you want the time announced. If you like, customize the voice.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • MacBook Pro won't stop rebooting. Options to get past the gray screen?

I made an adjustment to sharing on HD and ever since then the MacBook is rebooting again and again. Any suggestions?

Thank you for the response. I have tried starting in safe mode and it is not taking. The cycle continues to reboot after about a minute or two. Once when I tried starting in force OS X mode holding down "X" when starting I did get the scrolling text but then the prompt asked to exit or enter a command. Not knowing what command to enter, I typed exit. This did not resolve the problem obviously. I am supposed to get a call from an Apple person later this morning. I am hoping he/she can help.
I am not sure I know how to get to Disc Utilities if I can't get past the grey screen. Any suggestions? Should I boot off of my system discs?
    Thanks again for your response.

  • Macbook Pro won't stop indexing!

Hey yall ive had my MBP for right around 15 months and lately it was beachballing alot so i installed Onyx. Then it started freezing and BB'ing even more with Firefox. So i completly uninstalled Onyx and firefox. That solved the problem for the most part. Then it kept on BB'ing some more when using safari. So i did the repair permissions thing and now my MBP has been indexing for like 2 days and hasnt made in progress. I just want my computer back to where it was quick and did BB every five minutes. What do i need to do?

I am in almost the same situation.
The only differences are that I had gone in and tried to repair my volume. I did this once and it seemed to solve the problem. Then the symptoms came back and I did it again, but the second time it couldn't repair. So I reformated and reinstalled Lion, brought my system back with a time machine transfer. However the symptoms are back again now.
I also did NOT uninstall Onyx or Firefox.
    Someone please help us both.

Try deleting the photo cache from your computer and then re-try the photo sync - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314

  • MacBook Pro won't sync with other devices

My MacBook pro won't sync with other devices in the house.  My iPad and iPhone sync OK but MacBook won't for some reason.  Can you help?

Sign into your account in iTunes - from that page you should be able to deauthorise ALL 5 authorised computers - supposedly you can do this once a year.
Thereafter any devices you no longer have will be deauthorised, and you can reauthorise those you still have or are new.

Sorry, not sure how to screenshot on my computer, but this is what is says word for word:-
The Ipad could not b synced because the computer is not longer authorised for purchased items that are on this ipad.
To authorise this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store, choose Store>Authorise this computer.
I have done all of that but not luck.  That's when I tried deauthorising all computer which it did ok.  I then authorised my Macbook pro again, it said I had one computer now authorised.  I tried to delete apps via Itunes then sync to my iPad, but the above message keeps popping up & it wont do what I want.
