MacBook Pro won't turn on after crash. Charging LED blinking rapidly

Hi. I hope you can help me.
I have a macbook Pro 13", from september 2012, which crashed earlier today:
I was charging my iphone through USBport on my macbook (not an Apple USB-iPhone power-cable) .
My MacBook was charging through the magsafe charger (about 30% power i think).
I took the phone out to make a call, when that was done, I reconnected the phone to my mac for further charging.
My MacBook crashed instantly. I took out the USB cable, tried to turn on my mac, but nothing happened. There was no light in the magsafe LED.
The crashing has happened before, when I've been charging my phone through USB connections, but I've always been able to turn my mac back on.
This time nothing happened when I pushed the power button. It had comepletely shorted out.
BTW. Earlier today I received a "storage almost full" warning on my mac, and I was actually in the middle of cleaning that up (deleting downloads and trash files).
Typical and just my luck!
Now, a few hours later, I tried restoring SMC (shift+ctrl+alt+power), and now the charger LED is blinking rapidly (but faintly) orange.
Do you have any ideas on how to fix this? All applestores nearby are closed today, I live in Denmark.
Thank you so much in advance!
Kind regards Emilie

Try the SMC reset again:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295
Then try a NVRAM reset:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063
Then try a safe boot:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262
If no success, then you will have to take it in for service.
Ciao.

  • My MacBook Pro won't turn on after the new update.

I left my MacBook Pro out and open for it to update and install the new software. When it finished, I connected my iPhone 5s with the laptop via the USB cable. And it completely shut down. And it won't turn on, restart, nor charge.

    Did you try this?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Macbook pro doesn't turn on after full charge?

Hi, I bought used macbook pro yesterday from ebay. The macbook arrived clean in a secure box, i turned it on and it worked stright from there. I used it on battery for like 4 hours and then i shut it down and put it on  charge and went to work. When i came back and i saw the battery was fully charged. i unplugged the macbook pro and tried to power it on. The macbook pro didn't respond, no light, no chime, no hard disk noise and no white screen!!
It just made me so much worried and started looking over the net. I found out some reset options and tried but invain. After all this i was so much  stressed that i tried to contact the seller. The seller said he had it for about two years and never had any problem like that.
However I tried to power it up in morning and it just powered up and worked flawlessly. My question is what could have went wrong there?? I'm just worried if that problem is gonna come back again and again. I never had this sort of problem on my Vaio laptop. Is there anything that i dont understand about macbook or be cautious about??
However I must confess, I used 60W megsafe charger but only when my laptop was switched off and I was aware not to run it on 60W charger.
    Thanks,
    Adnan

Its coming today, but i am just wondering if this is normal for macbook pro not to turn on randomly?

  • MacBook Pro won't turn on after closing lid & fully charged. Help!

I have a MacBook Pro from June 2008, I have been using it all day, this evening it was fully charged and I left it on with the screen open - by the time I came back the screen was black ( I assumed it had gone to sleep) I closed the lid to take it upstairs to discover that when I opened it the power light was not on. When I press the power button nothing happens, but if I hold the power button for around 5 seconds the light stays on, the laptop sounds like it is trying to start up but then dies. I have tried the smc reset, but it has not worked. Also tried taking the battery out and trying this with just power adapter. Does anyone have any clues to what is wrong? Or do I just take it into the apple store?
Thanks, really could do with some help!!

    Hey Pascale,
I am not sure if you have fixed this but I had the same problem and found some advice from another website...
    http://www.adeepbite.com/lion-seems-having-insomnia-it-doesnt-sleep-easily/
All I had to do was turn off my "internet sharing"  (System preferences -> Sharing -> Internet Sharing (uncheck) )
and presto, no more closing lid problems.
If your internet sharing wasn't the issue then I don' t know what is.
    Cheers

  • MacBook Pro won't turn on after it goes to sleep

Everytime I fold it and it goes to sleep and re-open it, it doesn't turn on. I have to hold the power button and turn it on and off for about 15 minutes before it finally comes on. The battery is 100% charged and I got my MacBook Pro only a couple of months ago. The only other problem is ther everytime I restarted my computer, every desktop background automaticly reverts back to the first one. If anyone can tell me whats wrong please help.

  • Macbook pro won't turn on. Flashing charger light. Please

I have had my macbook pro for less than a month and it will not turn on. When i plug in the charger it does one of 3 things; A) the little light on the charger won't turn on. B) it comes on orange and then after a period of a couple of minutes slowly fades out and then back on as green followed by flashing green. or C) It simply won't come on. The computer will not turn on during any of these instances. And when I check the battery by pressing the button on the side none of the 5 lights turn on.
I have tried it with the charger for my other macbook and still doesn't work. And both the chargers work on that computer. So i know it is an issue with the macbook itself.
The sleeper light never turns on at all either. I hope the battery didn't burn out.
Is there anybody out there who could please help me?
    Shed some light on this...

Since you've had this for such a short time, I would take it to the Apple store and let them deal with it.
    Do a back up first!

  • Macbook Pro won't turn on after trying to boot from USB

    Hi guys,
My MBP wasn't getting past the grey logon screen with the Apple logo and the spinning loading gif.
I used Liondisk Maker to boot my copy OSX from a USB and his option when i turned it on again, which eventually loaded to the optional disks, so I clicked on the USB, after a minute or so nothing had happened and my screen just went blank, and the computer turned off.
Now it won't even turn on. It is plugged into the AC aswell.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

It is now turning on but none of the commands for any boot menus will work?

  • MACBOOK PRO WON´T TURN ON AFTER 2 DAYS OFF

    good afternoon
Generally not turn off my mbp. I leave the mesm only on stand by. Well, I was traveling 2 days ago and I left it off. Having returned from the trip even more did not call, does not show battery level indicators. After a few tries the light kindled MagSafe mpb and called again. He worked for a few minutes and hung up again. The magsafe light is also hung up and did not care anymore. I tried resetting the SMC, PRAM AND YET still not connecting. He is a MBP late 2011.
Desisperado I do not know what else to do for the same call. There seems battery as already called the same without battery and only when he called with the same magsafe also hung alone.
    HELP ME PLEASE!

    Dominic,
    thanks for replying
but I left the charger plugged in the last 24 hours and even then he does not call anymore. The led on the magsafe does not own any light on more features. It just stopped working again: (
I do not know anymore what to do

  • Macbook Pro won't turn on after clicking the power button.

I left my laptop on sleep mode yesterday night but when I tried to use it this morning the screen stayed black. I than turned it off and when I clicked the power button to turn it on again, only the fan turns on but the screen stays black. This occurred last time and the apple tech clicked some buttons and it turned on.

  • MacBook Pro won't turn on after installing system updates

So my little "system update" reminder kept bouncing at me last night so I wnt ahead and told it to install updates and went to sleep only to find, my beloved MBP will not turn on this morning.
If I hold the power button, it surely SOUNDS as if it wants to turn on, but the second I let go...nothing, zip, nada.
    Any suggestions?

Not the right time to update and go to sleep. What updates? How much free space was on the hard drive?
Try inserting the OS installer disk in the optical drive and powering up holding down the c key.

  • Macbook Pro won't turn on and no charge?f

Hey, I bought my mbp around September of 2009. Last night I put it to sleep, and when I woke up it wouldn't turn on. The battery indicator shows only 1 green light and flashes for a couple of seconds. When I plug in my charger, there is no light, as well. What should I do?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Ezam
It's interesting that you say that it's a new battery charger, do you still have the old one and have you tried that?
It sounds like a problem I had with one of the Laptops where I work. We were experiencing problems with the charger so we bought a new one, didn't think anything of it and the Apple Store didn't ask any questions - why would they.
After a few weeks the Laptop seemed to be losing it's charge, so we called in our support contract, turned out that the Adapters are very slightly different and the one we had although it worked was not quite the right one for the Laptop we had (This was one of the older style chargers with the jack type connection).
Not sure if this rule still applies with the MagSafe but might be worth looking into, sounds like the chargers not getting the power there. The 1 battery light you're experiencing is the sign that the Battery doesn't even have enough juice to light one light.
The service Battery warning seems to be a common one coming up at the moment with Snow Leopard but it shouldn't stop the machine from turning on, especially as you can run the MacBook without a battery in (not advisable mind).

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.
If this doesn't work then you will need to erase the drive and install Snow Leopard from scratch:
    Erase and Install Snow Leopard
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. When completed quit DU and complete the Snow Leopard installation.

Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Reinstalling Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
If you are not using Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks then use the following procedure:
Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
